For many weeks she has suffered countless set backs. The lastest update from her daughter includes great news. Mom has finally shaken the bacteria from her blood. The last positive culture was May 30th and all the cultures for this have been finalized. The doctors are confident this issue is gone. Now she has a new PICC line that is working well that was placed in her upper right chest area on June 7th. Whew! Now they can stop poking her arm and digging around many times a day. Praise the Lord! I fully believe it was He who made this bacteria go away. We were also on isolation again because of Next Month Shannon Brinkley In August another nationally known speaker will be here to show us her way of creatively making quilts even more special with appliqué. Shannon Brinkley is a quilt and fabric designer, author, national speaker and teacher based in Austin, TX. Shannon wrote the book Scrappy Bits Appliqué, where she teaches how to turn scraps of fabric into gorgeous, modern art quilts by collaging a variety of fabrics, vintage and new, with different colors, tones, and patterns to create really interesting and unique textures. Check out her website to learn more about her. shannon-brinkley-studio.myshopify.com this and on 5/31, we were allowed to come off isolation status. 3 What are you quilting? Eagle Ranch helps make life better for children and their families, positively impacting communities for the glory of God. Eagle Ranch boys and girls come from a variety of backgrounds and situations. They partner with their families to help them navigate through whatever crisis they may be facing. Jenny Grandfield We are searching for the makers of these two quilts. Volume 32 Issue 7 Page 3
4 Travel, collect and shop: June 21 - Sept. 5, 2017 Be the first to Bring in completed quilt for prize: June 21 - Oct. 31, 2017 One winner per store I'm a quilter, how can I participate in Row by Row Experience? It's easy! Simply visit any participating 2017 Row by Row quilt shop during the summer and ask for their free pattern for a row in a quilt. The 2017 theme is Row by Row On the Go, and each shop is working with the theme in their row. The shops are happy to give you the pattern at no cost, limit one per person, walk-in customers only. Linda Cooper has won prizes for the last two years for being the first person to pressent a finished quilt using eight rows to Betty Sue s Quilt shop. The shops are all over the U. S. and into Canada. How can I get the row patterns from quilt shops that are far away from me? You can't. The shops are offering the pattern only to customers who walk in the door. Please don't ask them to or mail their row patterns. Can I make copies of the patterns I collect? Absolutely not!! That's a big no-no! The patterns are copyright property of the designers. So, is this a shop hop? Kinda. But there are no fees and no cards to stamp. Are there prizes? Can I win something? Yes! With the Row by Row Experience you win a prize for sewing! Complete a quilt using at least 8 different rows from 8 different 2017 participating shops. Be the first to bring it into a shop and you win a stash of 25 fat quarters. (That's 6-1/4 yards of fabric!) Win a bonus prize for using that store's row in your quilt. What do you consider "complete" when it comes to my quilt. Quilted, bound, labeled. What pattern do I use for my quilt? You decide. Stack your rows, arrange around a center medallion, make them horizontal, vertical, upside down, on the front, on the back, whatever! You are the designer. Be creative and have fun, but be sure to use 8 different 2017 rows from 8 different 2017 Row by Row shops. Can I win in more than one shop? Sorry, Charlie. One prize per quilter. You can make several quilts and show them off in several shops, but you may only claim one prize. Your quilt will be photographed for Facebook and everyone will see it, so play fair! Make our world a better place with The 9th Row. Many of the quilt shops are participating in The 9th Row project. In making a donation to The Make a Wish Foundation, the shops received an exclusive pattern. Consider the purchase of The 9th Row kit and a portion of your sale will help out the local children s charity. Ask for it in your store! In 2015 Linda is the winner for Betty Sue's Quilt Shop Linda is the proud owner of a beautiful quilt kit along with her 25 fat quarters. The row designs come from Morganton Sewing Center, Atlanta Sewing Center, Red Hen, Sew Much Fun, Tiny Stitches, Little Quilts, City Square, Betty Sue's! In 2016 She used rows from: Intown Quilters, Betty Sue's, Thread Bear, Sew Much Fun, Atlanta Sewing Center Duluth, Common Thread, Red hen, Atlanta Sewing Center Marietta. Volume 32 Issue 7 Page 4

6 Guild Members Raffle Tickets Our guild is so blessed to offer the children of Eagle Ranch individual quilts made by our members. To provide this opportunity we need each of our Guild members to sell their required Raffle Tickets. This is separate from your time given at a venue when we sale tickets and share the purpose of Eagle Ranch with the community. Remember these tickets sales provide fabric for quilt and batting, long armers already donate their time with quilting and thread. They help fund our programs each month and keep membership dues low, so the more we sell all areas benefit. I will be available at the July meeting to provide our new members with their tickets. We currently have 109 HCQG members, we have 25 members that have turned in their tickets, 6 new members to pick up tickets, 34 members to pick up there tickets leaving 75 members to return tickets. So come see me at our meeting, I will have a name tag on that says Raffle Tickets, pick up or drop off. (109 members times $25.= $2725.) All tickets need to be returned by the October meeting, the drawing is held during the December Christmas meeting. We all know how busy our lives become once October appears and then Christmas is around the corner. So turn in your tickets early so I am not tracking you down! If you have any questions or would like to pick up your tickets early, please don t hesitate to call me. Donna Proctor Ticket Member Coordinator cell 2017 HCQG Executive Board Co-Presidents Becky Bicknell Roxan Brown Vice President Denise Ulrich Secretary Lydia Conner Treasurer Betty Heathman HCQG meetings are on the FIRST Monday of each month unless that day is a holiday (then the meeting is the second Monday of the month) Social Hour is at 9:30 a.m. and the meeting starts at 10:00 Project Day is held THIRD Monday of each month at the church at 10:00 a.m. bring anything you are working on as well as a dish to share (or just bring your own lunch if that works better for you). Volume 32 Issue 7 Page 6 Are you new to the Hall County Quilters Guild? Check out our website at for valuable information like how to make a name badge, our policies and procedures, how to make a quilt for Eagle Ranch and even photos of quilts that our members have made.
