3 And nw 2014: Augmented Reality (AR) / Virtual Reality (VR) Experiments in VR arund the Oculus Rift The aim is nt t make a wnderful dem tday but t explain what we have started in mid-april (fr 6 Mnth) A reflexin abut use cases We spent time als t learn hw it wrks (develpment kit, languages, platfrms, etc.) First develpments The aim f this presentatin is t get back cmments, critics, ideas, etc. IVOA Madrid, May

A develpment kit (hardware + sftware + access t culus cmmunity) Versin 1: ur versin Versin 2: available frm July/August (HD + a camera t imprve the experience (less latency between the mvement and the display)) Different ways t build an «applicatin» 3D engines like Unity, directly with the culus libraries, IVOA Madrid, May

5 Hw we use it? In a first time, directly in C++ with the culus librairies but it was nt easy t develp quickly ur prttypes and we decided t use Unity/C# It is nt a «final chice», it will prbably evlved IVOA Madrid, May

8 Remarks The examples available t play with the Oculus Rift are mainly based n a scene with bjects (with a mvement, yu can turn arund, etc. ) fr which yu define the frms, the textures, etc. It is nice if yu want fr example t shw the slar system and it is nt t hard t due with an engine like Unity But it is n the same if yu want t visualise a simulatin if yu want t adapt an existing applicatin if yu want t navigate int a HEALPix survey Etc IVOA Madrid, May
