2 MEETING MINUTES December 9, 2015 Call to Order: President Gordon Boyd called the meeting to order at 6:20pm and welcomed the 30 members and significant others as well as 1 guest who were present. Minutes: The minutes of the November membership meeting as ed to the club membership were approved. Treasurer s Report: Treasurer Jim Martin gave the Treasurer s Report through November 30 th which was approved as presented. Also mentioned is that there are 82 members to-date. National Corvette Museum: John Fort presented the NCM Ambassador s report in Don Paulson s absence. The Museum in Motion program has many fun road tours planned for You can review and/or sign-up for the various planned tours by going to the NCM website, $44 Million has been planned for the ongoing improvement of the Corvette manufacturing plant. For further details on the above and all NCM activities, please check out the NCM Ambassador s report posted in the club newsletter and on the club website. Old Business: On November 14 th, there was a charity run/dine and cruise that included a tour of the Food Bank facility where a check from the net proceeds from our annual show was presented. Donations from CFC has resulted in 100K meals to-date. The Good Shepherd Center/Lower Cape Fear Hospice was also visited. 45 members and guests attended the November 28 th annual Christmas Party held at the Porter s Neck Country Club this year. All enjoyed the hors d oeuvres, a 4 course dinner and a DJOn December 5 th, 20 Corvettes/38 members participated in the annual Mike Casey Toy Run where club members joined 4 other clubs to present the marines with toys for the children at the base. Everyone enjoyed a lunch at the Officer s Club where the presentations were made. A total of 94 Corvettes participated. New Business: Gordon recognized Tony Caracciolo for all the contributions that he has given the club this year. Tony was instrumental in securing a new show location and contacted all the suppliers needed to setup a successful show. Tony has always offered his assistance whenever the officers needed help. Gordon presented to Tony the CFC Spirit Award for Gordon announced the nominations for the 4 officer positions (President, VP, Secretary, Treasurer) as well as the Director s position of Membership Chairman as follows: Open positions: President Richard Fox Vice President Peter Ziehl Secretary Jerry DiGiovanni Treasurer Steve Primavera Membership Chairman Jim Martin Webmaster John Talatinian

3 Newsletter Peter Ziehl NCM Ambassador - Don Paulson No other nominations were presented therefore it was unanimous that this would be the new slate of Officers and Directors for Gordon recognized all the past year Officers and Directors and thanked them for all their help and work. He also thanked Don Paulson and John Fort for organizing a great trip out to the NCM which included a museum and plant tour, racing at the new Motorsport Park and a cruise through the Tail of the Dragon. He also thanked John Fort for having met our obligation in paying off the CFC pledge to the Motorsport park fund. Richard Fox recognized Gordon Boyd for all his hard work over a very difficult year. He also mentioned he is looking for a permanent home for the club. Also, there will be a planning meeting to be announced (tentative January 5 th ) where everyone will be invited to help plan for The January meeting location/date/time will be announced via . 5 President s Message Dear Cape Fear Corvettes Members, It won t be long before we begin a new year at Cape Fear Corvettes. This year was a difficult one for me and other fellow club members. We lost 2 of our members in the beginning of the year, Bobby Smith and Larry Lough. In August, we lost a major sponsor for our annual show. Somehow members pulled together during these tough times and we accomplished goals that were in doubt. In a short time, we managed to still have our annual show at a new venue and raise a significant donation to our charity, the local Food Bank. I am proud to say that through our club donations the last 4 year s, we have provided funds to feed over 100,000 meals to the homeless and less fortunate in our area. This is an accomplishment we should all be proud of. I know when my wife and I joined the club we were interested in meeting other Corvette owners and to make friends. We also liked that the club gave back to the community by putting on events to help needy organizations in our area. For several years, the club has provided Easter baskets for the Boys & Girls Home of Lake Waccamaw, brought toys to the marine families during our annual Toy Run, and donated funds from our annual show to assist in the purchase of food for the needy in our area. I hope the club will continue to schedule charity events throughout next year. The club was formed with 3 purposes: charity, promoting the Corvette name and GM brand, and driving our Corvettes to events and for pleasure to socialize with fellow club members. I want to thank personally all the officers and directors that served with me this last year. It has been a pleasure serving you this year as your President. I hope to step back and enjoy driving my Corvettes and making new friends. Let s have some fun together next year. Gordon

Learn more about all the events in 2016 at Corvette Plant to Utilize Solar Energy GM leads the auto industry in solar use in the US, and in an effort to continue their investment in clean, renewable energy, the company will break ground later this month on an 850-kilowatt array at Bowling Green Assembly. The new array will be the largest solar installation by any automaker in Kentucky and will generate 1.2 million kilowatt hours of energy annually, enough to produce about 850 Corvettes. The Corvette features the greatest efficiency of any sports car on the market, delivering an Environmental Protection Agency - estimated 29 mpg highway rating.
