3 A Message from the President Hi again and here we are in September, I have to send out a big Thank You to Bob Alexander for filling in for me at last month s meeting, Thank You Bob. Lots of great feedback on the meeting! This month is filled with lots of interesting events. I mentioned in error last month that Billy Coonrod would be showing us the IFOLG display. That event will happen at this month s guild meeting. The final items were turned in at last month s meeting and Billy has been working to incorporate all items into the finished IFOLG display. This should be a great visual treat. The display will be taken to Columbus Ohio to the 50 th Anniversary IFOLG in the next few weeks by Billy. The IFOLG Show always has lots of very interesting items to see and be involved with; including displays, show and tell items, many very talented leathercraft persons to talk with, and lots of great competition pieces. An added bonus at the shows is the raffle at the end of the show. There are always some great items being raffled. If you have the opportunity this is a great show to attend with lots of historical influence. The officers got together over the last weekend and put together the Honorary Guild Member Posters. They will be at the guild meeting for everyone to see before being sent to Columbus for display at the IFOLG Show. Here in the DFW we also have some important items on our agenda. Members are asked to attend this meeting if possible, there are some items that all members need to be involved in deciding. In closing let me again encourage members to send in pictures of recent projects, articles that can be considered for the newsletter and just to let us know what you would like to see from the guild. Jerry Pursan just send us some pictures of his recent project, a guitar case. Hope you visit the Facebook page to view it. Look forward to seeing each of you at the meeting on September the 10 th at 1:00 pm. Cartie Leather Stamps by Clay Contact Information cdmiller@msn.com Phone Temple Texas 3

6 222 Blackburn St Rhinelander, WI USA Tel: Fax: Complimentary Guild Subscription Program The Leather Crafters & Saddlers Journal and the International Federation of Leather Guilds have come together to offer a special complimentary subscription program to all guilds to help bolster guild membership. The program is made of two parts as follows. Part 1 New members to your guild are eligible for one free ½ year (3 issues) subscription to the Leather Crafters & Saddlers Journal, compliments of the Journal. A guild officer is asked to be responsible for submitting the names and addresses of these new members on a regular basis to the Leather Crafters & Saddlers Journal, attention Brian (see mailing address or address above). Part 2 When a current member either subscribes for the first time or renews their subscription to the Journal, $6.00 for each year of the subscription will be paid to the respective guild from the Journal. A one-year subscription will produce a $6.00 payment and a two-year subscription will produce a $12.00 payment to the guild. The member needs to make the Journal aware that the guild is to receive credit for the new or renewed subscription. The Journal can provide preen coded flyers to the guild which, when used by the members, will ensure that proper credit will be given to the guild. If the guild is a member of the International Federation of Leather Guilds, the IFoLG will also receive $6.00 for each year of the paid subscription (for new subscriptions only). If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Brian Stelzel at the Leather Crafters & Saddlers Journal at Thank you for your interest in this program. Sincerely, Brian Stelzel Circulation Manager 6
