1 EGS General Meeting, Saturday, January 27, 10:00 AM in the Maple Room at Park Avenue Community Center, Escondido. Members & guests are asked to participate in the program: This Is Who I Am! All of us have eight great-grandparents who have directly or indirectly made "me who I am". Each of us will make a quick family tree for both our dad's side & our mom's side. For each of our 8 great-grandparents (if you don't know one of your g-grandparents, then substitute a grandparent of that line) you may choose to tell Their names & when they lived Main places where they lived & occupation Something important or significant associated with that great-grandparent (Example: Steve Moseley's g-grandfather, Henry Champion Moseley took a 58- day journey by sea, & across Panama, to San Francisco in 1852.) Bring your notes to the January 27th meeting - Steve will provide you with a large piece of paper & a marker. You will have the first 15 minutes to make you family chart. Then each person will "Show & Tell". * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Have you wondered about finding you ancestors? Have you seen those commercials from Ancestry? Don't know how to begin? Following the program on January 27th, we will help you. Bring your own laptop that is WiFi capable. Mark Your Calendar!!! Newsletter exchange with the Immigrant Genealogical Society (IGS) contained the following item as written in the Montgomery Chapter of the Ohio Gen. Society. For the first time, the National Archives have launched online videos of its most popular genealogy how to workshops. These videos cover hot topics in genealogical research such as census, immigration and military records. These workshops are led by National Archives experts and are available on the National Archives You Tube channel: The following URL takes you directly to veteran parts of the National Archives online website. The site has some documents from all the wars in which the United States has been engaged. This part of the site, unlike other parts, is fairly easy to navigate: military/veterans/online.html The Newsletter All members of the Society receive the bi-monthly Newsletter. Submissions are encouraged. We print queries from members for free; non-members are charged $5.00. Queries are limited to 50 words and must be printed clearly. We are not responsible for the accuracy of material published, but will gladly print corrections. Material for proposed publication including queries, corrections, or any questions regarding the newsletter should be addressed to the editor at: egsnewsletter@gmail.com The Escondido Genealogical Society, Inc. is a non-profit organization with an IRS number, all gifts or donations of money are tax deductible. The Society would appreciate gifts or donations of family genealogies or histories, County histories (of any State), and books or manuscripts of a genealogical nature.
