Here it is a new Executive and a new season of Wood Working. Hope everyone survived the smoky summer days and are ready to enjoy another season of sharing and discussing our wood work projects, etc. and participating in our Demo days during the year. Now, on with the Newsletter Steve CALL TO ORDER: Les Eliason Les called the meeting to order at Les stated to us that he is new to this kind of public exposure, so bear with him, and help him get through this first year as President. WELCOME BACK: Les Les welcomed us all back from another smoky summer. NEW MEMBERS/GUESTS/ETC: Any new faces, or old faces, new again? Guests? Non so far. Steve had a phone call from a lady who was to attend the meeting tonight (didn t show.) (Later in the meeting, George showed up to join us.) VOLUNTEERS; Les stated to us that this Guild would not exist without the support of volunteers pitching-in to help it run So please consider volunteering when needed. WOODWORK HELP NEW TOOLS ETC: 1

2 Anne wanted to know the best way to slice a wooden, store-bought letter in half. She was told to use a band saw, carefully, rather than using a table saw. Mentor s list needs to be updated. (Don Ingram hasn t been a member for 2 years.) (done) NEW TOOLS: Dave G. has two new chisels Anne R. attempted to use a drill press as a vertical lathe Reverted to store-bought stuff. Sandi T. earlier this month sent out an requesting help for a fellow who needs a handle turned from his own wood (George later showed up at the meeting, and met with Stu Rockwood and he, Stu, is going to do the turning for him.) Warren J. Was voluntold to take over the 50/50 draw finances, etc. Thanks Warren. OLD BUSIINESS: School Board is still holding our $ for damage to their machinery. As we are not using any of their machinery, we should request it back into our bank account. AGAR LUCAS That we request the return of our $ damage deposit to our bank. (Sandi volunteered to initiate the contact and set the wheels in motion for our money s return.) BAR-B-QUE & DEMO DAYS: We had a very good Year End BBQ.. Fine weather, 30 odd people showed up, and had a great day Thanks to Anne R. for doing all the running around for supplies, etc. Canada Day (AITP): Never had we ever had a more windy, wet, and cold day for July 1 st. We had a tent over the Demo tables, but the Sales Table was drenched and some of the wood work was damaged by the water. (Jerry Gauthier to check on Stu s cutting board warpage.) RURAK AGAR That the Guild purchase another 10 x 20 tent for coverage of the venues at our demo/sales days. MEET-A-MACHINE: Question was raised as to whether we could position our Sales Table outside the Pow Wow Arbour, out where the other vendors are situated? (Have to talk to Jim, the organizer, about this move.) 2x4 CHALLENGE: Do we want to do another challenge? If so, when shall we hold it? (several suggestions were sent around the room, then;) ROCKWOOD JAMES That we hold another 2x4 Challenge and it is to be judged at the Year-End BBQ, by attendees. (Warren James is going to try and get the set of rules for challenge from his previous membership at the coast.) 2

5 DEMO: Judy Swayne Judy demonstrated to us the Kreg System All the tools, tables, attachments, etc. that are available in the Kreg line of tools. Showing Francis the basic tool kit.
