2 OPENING COMMENTS: The abbreviated meeting and workshop at Waldo s and Jeans last month was very productive. The Wood Carvers Club will be participating in the 2013 Ramble, probably on Sunday. Fairchild had no concerns on them sharing our space. Those attending will be joining the Guild. Veteran Demo was done on Wednesday August 28 th. The weather was bad that morning, it took us an extra hour to get there. Six were scheduled in the morning but only two showed up. The two scheduled in the afternoon cancelled. Had positive feedback from the consular on the persons that showed in the morning. The first meeting for the ramble was on Thursday September 12 th. Helen, Jay and I attended and will be placing us in a new location. We will be sharing the Large Tent next to the lake with the Furniture design folks. Dave Biznet contacted Fairchild on some wood samples that we have. At our last meeting, we agreed to donate them to Fairchild. I do not know how Biznet will be getting the samples to Fairchild. I recommended that we bring them with us to the Ramble. Williee Armellini has started updating the site and has made some changes. A vote was taken and approved to provide Williee with a check for $ for a URL (36 months) and Hosting a site (1 yr.). The hands on Pen turning Demo for the Open House of Ministries youths will be at Waldos on Oct 5 th. The instructors will be Joe Dion, Ralph Callander, Jack Sawyer, Dave Piper and Tristan Holland. Dave Freundlich will start off with a safety talk. Five youths and a Supervisor will be attending. Jim Wheeler started sending a copy of the newsletter monthly to the AAW. Ralph volunteered to find an inexpensive boot lock for the guild trailer. Waldo provided a list of the items to be purchased for the workshops which include sandpaper, CA glue, etc. The members approved a check for $ Dave OLD / NEW BUSINESS: Don Van de Hei reviewed the open issue with the Black Sapote that Fruit & Spice asked us to take. The two scenarios that Don will take to Chris at F&S are: 1) Black Sapote Potpourri (donated by Dave Piper) to the Fruit & Spice shop. 2) Fruit & Spice demo and sales by the Guild on November 15 & 16 Fish Fry. Dave has applications for the AAW. There are DVDs available in library. ATTENDANCE: 23 GUESTS: 2 Sue Gribbins, Eoin Madden who joined the Guild. TREASURER S REPORT: Next Month. BRING BACK & 50/50: - Don Van de Hei won the beautiful hollow form made by Williee Armellini. Gift Certificates to Craft Supply were won by George Colman and Ralph Callander - The 50/50 raffle was won by Helen Fitzgerald. $64 was collected, $32 to Helen, $32 to the Guild. SEPTEMBER WORKSHOP/MEETING: Was held at Jean and Waldos with a hands on making a Vacuum Chuck Mold by Joe Dion and Jack Sawyer. Here are the last questions from the AAW to answer and see if there are items that need to be improved in your shop My plan if I develop an allergic reaction to a wood species is. I consistently use properly sized tools for each project. Large tools for larger pieces, small tools for small projects: never sometimes always.
