It is always a full evening of fellowship, great food, patriotic expressions and an opportunity for our chapter to join with so many other people of the community in giving thanks for the great liberties and privileges afforded us in our nation. The Heralds count it an honor to be asked again to share their music and assist in the very worthy cause of honoring the glorious symbol of our country. Long May She Wave! It s certainly NOT too early to be planning your participation in the upcoming LABOR DAY JAMBOREE (Sept and the Fall Convention to be held in Ocala in October. 6 Last Tuesday the Heralds of Harmony had the distinct privilege of singing at a surprise going-away party for Colonel Lawrence Martin, who, for the past two years, has served as Commander of the 6th Air Mobility Wing at MacDill Air Force Base. Colonel Martin and his family (wife Julia and sons Jeff and JJ) were honored in a formal gathering at the Tampa Yacht and Country Club in South Tampa. Besides many co-workers, associates and friends, Commander Martin was lauded by another very special guest at the festivities, Tampa Mayor, Pam Iorio. The mayor proclaimed June 22 as Colonel Lawrence Martin Day in all of Tampa and ended her glowing remarks by presenting the Commander with the key to the city. The Heralds were indeed honored to be present and pay musical tribute to the nation Colonel Lawrence serves and to serenade him and his family. Brad serves as communications coordinator for the chorus and often is found carrying out Master of Ceremonies duties for the chapter s various performances. He s been out of town for a couple of weeks, so it s about time that he s back doing what he s supposed to for HoH. After all, it s why they pay him the big bucks!
