Please print out the registration, waiver, lunch choices, and shirt order forms and fill out legibly. 2. Registrations, class requests, or cancellations must be submitted in writing. 3. The registration fee is $75.00 and includes classroom space, Friday and Saturday buffet lunches, AND the Saturday evening dinner. 4. Select the classes you want each day in order of preference! Classes will be assigned based on your preferences and the date on which your registration is received. Select ONLY those classes you are willing to take. If all your preferences are filled, you will not be assigned to a class that day. We encourage you to select a minimum of 3 choices for each day. 5. Be sure to select classes consistent with your skill level. Beginner You have woven a few baskets. You need more practice with basic weaving techniques and shaping. Intermediate You can easily begin a basket. You want to learn and/or practice a new technique. Advanced You are an accomplished weaver looking for new techniques and materials. 6. Registration will be accepted starting May 1, 2012 and continue through June 30, A $20.00 late fee will be assessed after the registration deadline and will be accepted pending availability. Confirmations will be mailed early July. Your confirmation will include your class assignments, a bill for class fees, and payment directions. Material fees will be due by August 15, Classes will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday (some may end at 3:00 p.m.). Sunday classes are from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Thursday evening classes will start at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday evening classes with start after the dinner. 8. Registration cancellations received prior to June 30, 2012 will be refunded minus a $20.00 processing fee. Cancellations received after the registration deadline are non-refundable; however basket kits will be mailed upon request. A $35.00 fee will be assessed for all returned checks. 9. Include a self-addressed, stamped #10 business size envelope. This envelope will be used to mail your class assignments and payment instructions. 10. ODYSSEY REGISTRATION CHECK-IN Thursday evening, Sept. 13 from 6:30 8:00 P.M. is early registration check-in. Registration will also be held from 7 8 A.M. on Friday, Sept. 14.

8 BASKET EXCHANGE A basket exchange will be held during the banquet on Saturday evening. You may participate whether you are a beginner, intermediate, or advanced weaver. However, whatever your level or expertise, the basket you make to give in the exchange should be a basket you would be happy to receive in the exchange. Please bring your basket to the registration table when you check in. MARKET PLACE Market place will be held Friday, Sept. 14 from 7:30 8:30 P.M. Teachers and participants are encouraged to sell items. Don t forget to check the spot on the registration form if you wish to reserve a table. RAFFLE We have some exciting items to raffle again this year. Thanks for supporting this endeavor every year. Tickets will be sold Friday and Saturday until the banquet. The raffle items will be awarded during dinner on Saturday evening. MASSAGES Massages will be available sign up early at the registration table! Bring cash! SCHOLARSHIP Central Pennsylvania Weavers Guild will be awarding a scholarship of a full registration fee ($75) in memory of Carol MacNeil. Carol was a former CPBWG member who served in many capacities Guild President, Board Member, Odyssey Committee Member, and Dye Party Hostess. Carol passed away on Dec. 22, The award will be presented during the banquet. SATURDAY DINNER Saturday evening dinner will be the Eisenhower Deluxe Buffet held in the MacArthur/Patton room at 6:00 p.m. 8

9 Anne Bowers Kearneysville, West Virginia 2012 A WEAVING ODYSSEY TEACHER INFORMATION Anne is from the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia where she works in her studio designing and teaching baskets. She was a production basket maker for many years and she brings those skills into the classroom. Ribbed basketry is her specialty, and some of her baskets have taken on a sculptural perspective in recent years. She has taught at many state conventions and events and on both of the basket weaving cruises. Her goal is to make each class a positive learning experience for her students. Anne Coleman Danville, Kentucky Anne Coleman is a professional artist who has been creating, teaching, and designing three dimensional fiber art for almost thirty years. She is invited to teach her unusual designs at seminars and conventions throughout the U.S. and was a featured artist in Lynn Siler s last book. Anne combines many mediums with weaving and uses techniques developed from painting, pottery making, and tack and harness design to create a unique life s work. Pati English Seneca, South Carolina An avid basket collector of Native American and baskets from around the world, Pati enjoys sharing her love of baskets as a Resident Artist with the S.C. Arts Commission. Juried baskets of her original designs are included in museums, traveling exhibits, art shows and discovery centers in the southeast. She has earned ribbons at the N.C. Association Exhibits, fine craft, and purchase awards at juried art shows around the southeast. Her baskets were featured in Bits Magazine, South Carolina Farmer Magazine and Southern Living Magazine. Pati has enjoyed 25 years designing original patterns and teaching students of all ages at museums, state conventions, and guilds in SC, NC, FL, GA, KY, PA, TN and VA. She continues to enable this generation to carry on our tradition, to keep the art of basketry alive and ensure its place in the 21 st century. Pati s website is 9

10 Ruth Garcia Westerly, Rhode Island Ruth originally from the Midwest and now living in Rhode Island, has been weaving for over eighteen years. She loves the Nantucket tradition of basket weaving for its craftsmanship and durability, and has won several awards. They include the NCBA 2008 Viewer s Choice in General membership and has received Honorable Mention at the 82 nd Annual Member Exhibit of the South County Art Association. Her work has been accepted into juried exhibits at the Helme House Gallery and the Artists Cooperative Gallery of Westerly in Rhode Island. Recently, she received recognition at the 2011 Association of Michigan makers Convention Exhibit for Best Nantucket Style. Ruth has taught at many guild conventions, and enjoys designing and developing different techniques. Gail Hutchinson Milton, West Virginia Gail has been teaching and designing for almost 30 years. She has written over 100 patterns. When not weaving, Gail loves to zentangle, hang with family and watch the grandkids grow! Billy Owens Aurora, Missouri Billy is a second generation White Oak basket maker in the family business: Owens Oak s began almost 30 years ago in southern Missouri. All of the material used in their baskets is made from white oak timber grown in the Ozarks, which Billy selects, cuts and then hand splits with a homemade hand tool, a split knife, designed by his father, Dale Owens. He has taught at conventions and workshops in over 23 states. Billy enjoys sharing everything about white oak, from selecting the right tree to how the materials are prepared. His goal for his students is to have an enjoyable time and to leave with a finished white Oak basket which will last them a life time. 10

11 Angie Wagner Country Seat Kempton, Pennsylvania Angie Wagner was raised in a very rural section of Berks County, Pennsylvania. She continues to try to live as close to nature as possible. Inspired by the patterns and colors she sees every day, she works to create symmetry in contemporary forms from chaotic natural materials. She grows and harvests many of the accents used in her work, which led to the name Woven Branch Designs. She specializes in round reed and gourd art, but is always exploring new materials and techniques. Operating The Country Seat, Inc. with her parents Bill and Donna, keeps Angie immersed in the basketry world every day. Barbara Weber Arlington, Virginia Barbara learned basket weaving from her sister-in-law in Since retiring in 2005 from a thirty year career with the Federal government, she weaves as often as she can and enjoys classes to learn new techniques and work with new materials. Barbara teaches locally, as well as for regional groups and at state conventions, including Ohio, North Carolina, Michigan and Wisconsin. She has won awards for her work from the North Carolina ry association, the Association of Michigan makers, and the Handweavers Guild of America. 11
