The napkins fit in the basket snuggly and only 1 inch of napkins sticks out of the top to prevent the napkins from drooping over. The basket has a filled base and an X design running through the middle of the long sides. Kit colors will vary. For an additional cost, students may choose to make more than 1 bracelet in class. Twist & Turn Bread Basket Susan Dirsa $ L X 6 W X 3 H 3-4 hrs. All levels Woven on a drilled wood base with #3 round reed and dyed accents. After twining you will twist & turn the reed to create the design. Finish off with a braid at the top. Pick Two Mini Baskets $ W X 5 L X 3-5 H w/handle 4 hours Intermediate Pick two basket designs to complete in this 4-hour class. These small baskets serve as great hostess gifts, candy baskets, party favors and more. Learn a variety of flat oval and round reed techniques, along with rim border variations. Select from baskets in photo back to front 2 X4 Racetrack Spiral, Reverse Spiral Round Reed Basket, 3 Mini Round Spiral Basket. Front row: 4 Mini Elbow/Heart basket, Mini Round Twill Basket, and Open Weave Garlic Baskets. Select colors from wine, blue, green, yellow, and purple. Learn shaping techniques for increasing and decreasing the rim opening moving from a square base to round rim. A cherry one-piece rim and handle, accented by bone knobs complete the basket. All wood is pre-finished. A tool kit is provided. Child s Lunch Basket Billy Owens $65 5 x 8 x 6 deep excluding handle The Child s Lunch is made from White Oak trees I cut, select, and prepare by hand one piece of wood/split at a time using a homemade tool my Dad made and used called a Split Knife. It will have a Woven Oak Herringbone bottom and a Solid Oak handle. It will be woven on a mold and everyone should finish in class. For the best weaving experience, choose basket classes which are at your current weaving level. Unsure of your weaving level? Choose a class for all levels or use the following to help you decide: Beginner You may have woven a few baskets but need practice with basic weaving techniques and shaping. Advanced Beginner You have a basic understanding of twining, start/stop weaving, and lashing. Intermediate You can easily begin a basket. You want to learn and/or practice a new technique. Advanced You are an accomplished weaver looking for new techniques and materials.

4 Friday 8:00-5:00 Sassy Shelf Storage Peggy Adelman $ W X 13 L X 7.75 H 8 hours All Levels This basket is intended to fit on a closet shelf and help organize your storage. The base is a woven filled base. This basket has sharp squared corners. Running down the center of the basket is a row of Cherokee wheels in a contrasting color. The short sides of the basket include ceramic handles on the rim. Kit colors can vary. Friday 8:00-5:00 Licorice Peggy Adelman $ L X 8 W X 6 H 8 hours All levels This is a market basket that uses an 8 X 12 D handle. The base is filled so creating chicken feet will be taught. The rim is quad twining with 2 different colors and natural round reed. The Cherokee wheels are created with 2 pieces of round reed that are two different colors. Kit colors can vary. 5 Friday 8:00-5:00 Flat Bottomed Egg Basket Anne Bowers $ H X 15 Dia. X 8 W This uniquely shaped egg-style basket is a must-do for rib aficionados! Students will combine a rectangular hoop with a round hoop and dyed, preformed ribs. Skills include weaving an ear, sighting, whittling and inserting ribs and making a neat decrease to complete basket. All students may not complete basket in class, but they will be able to complete on their own. Bring sharpened knife to class. Friday 8:00-12:00 Light Weaving Susan Dirsa $ diameter base X 14 H Woven on a metal lamp base with 14 of weaving area. Woven in 3 rod wale with or without step ups, or choose 3 rod arrows. You choose your design with lots of color choices and natural reed. Class includes lamp base and weaving materials. Lampshade not included. Friday 1:00-5:00 Rusty Funnel Birdhouse Susan Dirsa $ H X 6 diameter 3- Woven with flat, flat-oval and round reed. The base is started by twining with round and then change it up to flat oval and small seagrass creating an opening in the front. Finish it up by adding a perch and a rusty funnel roof. Friday 8:00-5:00 Sunset Cathead $ Diameter In a traditional square woven cathead base, start with dyed spokes, learn hand and finger placement with attention to detail, color placement and design. Emphasis on shaping the Sunset cathead to a 9 diameter with flat oval Continuous Twill weavers and Spirals of Three-Rod Wale and Reverse Three-Rod Wale in three colors: cocoa, aqua, sunset orange; with other color combinations available. Create a large Arrow as the focal point with horizontal bands of color, the horizon just below the rim.

6 Friday 8:00-5:00 Spiral Lidded Storage Basket $ Diameter X 6.5 H 6 hours Intermediate A 5 round wood base is one of three wood components in this 7 diameter basket. Store coffee filters, use as cookie or candy jar, pet treats, stash toilet paper roll; or keep treasures hidden with a beautiful wood lid and knob handle. Techniques include: Start/Stop flat oval weavers dyed Four-Rod Wale horizontal bands of color that border the round reed and seagrass Three- Rod Wale Spiral providing added texture. A 6 round wood hoop serves as the inner rim for an accurate fit in lid placement. Pictured in wine accent with several color choices available. Friday 8:00-5:00 Butterflies to Flowers Ruth Garcia $ Dia. x 4.25 H Students will learn techniques and shaping while weaving their small paper cathead. The instructor will provide a variety of painted and pre-cut paper. After the basket is woven, paper will be applied in an easy decoupage method to create a hand-painted look. There are many patterns to choose from. A tool kit is provided. Friday 8:00-5:00 Oak Back Pack Billy Owens $ L x 10 W x 13 deep 8 hours All levels The Oak Back Pack is made from White Oak trees I cut, select, and prepare by hand one piece of wood/split at a time using a homemade tool my Dad made and used called a Split Knife. It will have a Woven Oak Herringbone bottom and will be double lashed and finished off with a fine quality leather harness. It will be woven on a mold and everyone should finish in class. Friday 9:00-4:00 Gambler s Money Pouch Joyce B. Smith $ L x 5.25 W x.75 6 hours All Levels The Gambler s Money Pouch is woven with Western Red Cedar Bark over a class mold (optional). Embellishments such as Birch Bark, Sweet grass and waxed linen will be included. Techniques for weaving with cedar bark will be stressed. Tools needed: scissors, packing tool.

7 Tyler s Twill Peggy Adelman $ L X 8.5 W X 7 H 8 hours Advanced Beginner The base is woven in a 2 by 2 twill pattern. From the twilled base you will form the cat head bottom. The basket comes up and flairs out slightly. The sides are also woven as a twill. The handles are insert swing handles. Creating the cathead and shaping will be stressed. Kit colors can vary. Saturday 9:00-4:00 6 Polygon with Space Dyed Cane Denise Bendelewski $ diameter X 3 H 6 hours All Levels Eight sided Nantucket made on class mold using space dyed cane and solid dyed staves, maple slip rim and base. Learn to weave with dyed cane and to taper staves. Color choices available. and Sunday 8:00-12:00 Butternut Squash Basket Anne Bowers $ X9 12 hours Advanced Second in Anne s Vegetable Series, this colorful rendition of a ribbed Oriole Basket is full of luscious colors, reminding one of a butternut squash. Students will learn how to weave a god s eye; sight, whittle and insert primary and secondary ribs; use color and texture and shape. Weavers include many sizes and shapes of dyed reed, baling twine, philodendron sheath, weavers thread, and cane. Basket may not be completed in class. Advanced weavers only. Bring sharpened knife to class. Red Egg Basket Anne Bowers $80 12 W X 10 L 8 hours Advanced This fancy Egg Basket will be woven in red with accents of cane and includes dyed ribs. Basket features a braided handle, use of cane within the god s eyes as well as some of the weavers. Emphasis in class is on learning how to make entire basket from the beginning and will include how to sight, whittle and insert both primary and secondary ribs and weave so that the basket sets well. A full 8 hours. Not all weavers will be finished with basket at end of class time, but they will know how to completely finish basket. Bring sharpened knife to class. Advanced weavers only.

8 Saturday 9:00-4:00 French Cross Susan Dirsa $50 11" square base, 13" diameter, 14"H 6 hours All levels This is a big basket perfect for storing anything from quilts, toys or even supplies for weaving. The unique base is woven with dyed accents building it out from the center creating a base that is filled in from the start. The sides are woven with stop and start weaving, 3 rod wale and a section of French Randing with a cane overlay. The storage basket is finished up with leather side handles. There will be some color choices. Take Me to Market Basket $ W X 14 L X 7 H; 14 w/handle Start this sturdy rectangle woven filled-in base with an 8 x 14 D handle. Techniques include: Start/Stop flat oval weavers, dyed round reed techniques, two variations of Triple-Triple Three-Rod Wale, and solid horizontal bands of Four-Rod Wale. Finish with a Cable Stitch Border and Double Braid Handle Wrap; several wrap choices offered. Add the braided handle grip overlay for an additional touch of color and comfort. A Touch of Texture $ L X 8.5 W X 7 H; 14 w/handle Techniques in a combination of flat oval reed, dyed round reed, and seagrass for an added touch of texture. With a 6 x10 wooden racetrack base, Start and Stop flat oval weavers, triple Three-Rod Wale in a combination of dyed round reed with seagrass, bands of dyed Four-Rod Wale, and Continuous Weave alternating seagrass and navy round reed; other colors available. Finish with Pati s teardrop handle, Triple Braid Handle Wrap dyed handle grip overlay; and several handle wrap choices. Silly Twill Ruth Garcia $ in Dia. X 8.5 H w/handle The basket starts with a cherry base where dyed reed staves will be inserted. Students will weave on a class mold, and learn a fun twill with a lot of Nantucket techniques. The basket is finished with a dyed lasher, cherry handle accented with bone knobs. The wood is pre-finished. A tool kit is provided.

9 and Sunday 8:00-12:00 Sea La Vie Rami McKinney $ W x 9 L x 13 H 12 hours All Levels Learn how to weave a rib basket from the beginning. First we will decorate the handle hoop & make a God s eye. The first set of ribs will already be cut so learning how to shape a rib basket will begin right away. After 6 or 7 rows of dyed reed we will switch to #1 seagrass to finish. You may not finish in class but you will know how to finish. Large Williamsburg Billy Owens $ Square X 9 Deep, w/o handle; 14 Dia. Round top 8 hours All levels The Large Williamsburg is made from White Oak trees I cut, select and prepare by hand one piece of wood/split at a time using a homemade tool my Dad made and used called a Split Knife. It will have a Woven oak Herringbone bottom and a solid oak handle. It will be woven on a mold and everyone should finish in class. This basket has a square woven bottom and a round top. Shaker Bureau Basket Joyce B. Smith $ L x 4.5 W x 2.6 H 8 hours All levels The Shaker Bureau Basket is a Shaker reproduction of one of the baskets in the knife series. It is woven over a class mold with Black Ash splint. Working with black ash splint will be stressed. Tools: scissors, packing tool.

Cherry base and slip on rim with eco ivory knob. Learn to taper cane for a small basket. Sunday 8:00-12:00 Tea Time Tray (choice of oval or round) Susan Dirsa $30 Round 14 X 2.5 or Oval 22 X 15 X hours All Levels Choice of one oval or round tray, woven on drilled wood base with bead accents. The baskets are woven in threerod wale and finished with a 5 strand braid rim. Sunday 8:00-12:00 Peek-a-Blue $ Diameter X 5.5 H 4 hours Intermediate This eye catching design begins with a 4 round wood base, Three-rod Wale to secure spokes, and flat oval Start/Stop weavers. Learn Four-Rod Wale with an easy Step-up to create the dyed and natural Vertical/Horizontal design. Dyed reed Double Lashing Braided Rim Border adds that finishing touch of color.
