1 Linda Addicott Watermarks Newsletter for the Central MM Watercolorists August 2015 Important: August Paint In, Aug. 11, is CANCELLED. The participation in June and July was very small. At this printing there are only 2 openings left in the Frank Zeller Workshop in Oct. See Calendar for info. January 2014 August 2015 President s Message August! Summer bounties are peaking. Although rain has been a whisper in places like the Northwest and a roar in Iowa, we have been treated with a song. Clemens- Munsinger Gardens showed evidence of this as its blooms and garden designs provided a beautiful backdrop for Art in the Garden July 16. Fourteen CMW painters showed their works in our Little Treasures display. Three members sold paintings and many folks visited our tent and made lovely comments. Thank you Kerry Kupferschmidt for coordinating, Bonnie Schwictenberg and Anita Hendrickx for supplying screens and the awning respectively. Thanks to Pat Spence and Donna Smith for ONLINE Find Central Minnesota Watercolorists news and more at and on Facebook at Central MN Watercolorists
2 helping with set up and to Ralph Carpenter, Virginia Barker, Jan Loebel, John Carter for manning the booth. CMW extended the colorful ambience of the gardens to the walls of the Paramount Visual Arts Center. July 31 we hung 34 paintings for our exhibit, Luscious. The show will continue to September 9. And with that backdrop many of you will set up booths in the Granite Lounge and Paramount lobby for the annual show and sale held in step with the St Cloud Sizzling Summer Art Crawl August 14. Summer art is peaking. August 22 Carol Spohn will entertain and Nunc cursus magna quis teach a sold out watercolor batik workshop 9a to 4pm at Watab Town Hall. September 1 st our CentraCare Health Plaza exhibit will be hung. So many opportunities for you and the public to sample CMW watercolor art! There s more as we head into Fall! Keep an eye on the Event Calendar. You are invited to attend the Annual CMW Dinner Meeting and Silent Auction September 14 at Watab Town Hall 5:15pm to 8:30pm. We will discuss the year so far as well as upcoming events seeking your input. This is also an occasion to bring your silent auction donations. As a bonus this year, we have received an anonymous donation: a signed and numbered print by local artist Jerry Korte! We welcome Judy Grooters and Jo Schwalbowski to our membership. Kudos and congratulations to Kathy Braud in receiving her GRA grant and Sandra Driscoll for acceptance of her painting Tallship in the State Fair. Look at everything in the world as if you are seeing it for the first time, and paint everything as if you were seeing it for the last time. (Andrew Hamilton) Stef 2
3 The Banner Painting Here is Kalee, a painting by Linda Addicott. Linda loves to paint animals and subjects reminiscent of the past. Need a ride to meetings or events? Contact a board member and we will get you connected. Several members have offered to provide rides from different directions. 2. 6 Art in the Park at Munsinger Gardens, July 17 This was our first year of a Small Treasures show. The exhibits were really good and we learned that we could have used a lot more examples, especially as some sold it would be nice to have back ups to fill the spaces. The setting was great. The weather - a bit rainy. No paintings were damaged thanks to Anita Hendrickx s generous loan of her popup tent. Kerry Kupferschmidt and Mary Buhl Our fearless leader Sandra Driscoll and Linda Addicott This really was a lovely site. The gardens were at their July peak. We have asked for the same spot next year.
