Quilters are tapping their toes, wondering what the quilt shops have composed! Row by Row Experience 2018 June 21 -thru- September 4 Quilters are working with a whole new scale. Rows may still be 9 x 36 (same old song), but you will also find some 12 x 27, 6 x 54, or even 18 square. (Applause!) Rows may be vertical or horizontal. All this really changes the tempo and adds dynamics to the project! So grab your friends and your Blue Suede Shoes and we ll have some major fun! Collage Quilts Gain World-Wide Attention Word has spread about Laura Heine s collage quilts, and quilters everywhere are loving them! These art-quilts are known for their whimsical and care-free mood, so different from traditional piecing. Seven Sisters Quilt Shop hosts 3-Day Fiberworks Workshops for quilters wanting to learn the collage technique, but are anxious about beginning on their own. These workshops offer careful instructions to complete any of Laura Heine s Fiberworks patterns. Quilters are guided throughout the project and also receive helpful information on machine quilting and binding in an optional Art-Quilt style. 5 Julia s Journal May/June 2018 Sew...one day we got in a shipment of the SEW Illustrated books. Mom asked me if I wanted to try to make some of the 20% OFF May/June projects in it. I said YES!...and I started sewing. I have been wanting to try free motion quilting, (which I still have yet to do)... but these projects in Sew Illustrated By Minki Kim and Kristin Esser SEW Illustrated use a lot of free motion appliqué. I had to put on a whole new foot, (a free motion open toe foot) and then I lowered the feed dogs. Mom said fast with the pedal and slow with the hands...and it really worked! I made several projects and everyone said they looked great! I loved this method so much, I Everyday Specials!
