Utrasonic signas are emitted y a transducer instaed on te pipe and received y a second transducer. Tese signas are emitted aternatey in te fow direction and against it. As te medium in wic te signas propagate is fowing, te transit time of te utrasonic signas in te fow direction is sorter tan against te fow direction. Te transit time difference, t, is measured and aows te fowmeter to determine te average fow veocity aong te propagation pat of te utrasonic signas.
