3 Technica specification FLUXUS F721TE Function Measurement principe The transducers are mounted on the pipe which is competey fied with the fuid. The utrasonic signas are emitted aternatey by a transducer and received by the other. The physica quantities are determined from the transit times of the utrasonic signas. Path of the utrasonic signa in the fowing fuid As the fuid where the utrasound propagates is fowing, the transit time of the utrasonic signa in fow direction is shorter than the one against the fow direction. The transit time difference t is measured and aows the fowmeter to determine the average fow veocity aong the propagation path of the utrasonic signas. A fow profie correction is then performed in order to obtain the area averaged fow veocity, which is proportiona to the voumetric fow rate. The integrated microprocessors contro the entire measuring cyce. The received utrasonic signas are checked for measurement usabiity and evauated for their reiabiity. Noise signas are eiminated. The therma energy rate coefficients of some fuids are stored in the interna database of the transmitter. Further userdefined fuids are possibe. Max. permissibe error The max. permissibe error MPE of a compete heat meter is according to EN 1434 the arithmetic sum of the max. permissibe errors of the subassembies: cacuator, temperature sensor pair and fow sensor. 5 Technica specification FLUXUS F721TE Number of sound paths The number of sound paths is the number of transits of the utrasonic signa through the fuid in the pipe. Depending on the number of sound paths, the foowing methods of instaation exist: refect arrangement The number of sound paths is even. The transducers are mounted on the same side of the pipe. Correct positioning of the transducers is easier. diagona arrangement The number of sound paths is odd. The transducers are mounted on opposite sides of the pipe. direct mode Diagona arrangement with 1 sound path. This shoud be used in the case of a high signa attenuation by the fuid, pipe or coatings. The preferred method of instaation depends on the appication. Whie increasing the number of sound paths increases the accuracy of the measurement, signa attenuation increases as we. The optimum number of sound paths for the parameters of the appication wi be determined automaticay by the transmitter. As the transducers can be mounted with the transducer mounting fixture in refect arrangement or diagona arrangement, the number of sound paths can be adjusted optimay for the appication.
