Y E L L O W R O S E C H A P T E R. C O M Words from your President: Between the 100 degree temps and the abrupt rain storms I was happy to find myself flying to the cooler Northland. Even better I was headed for a painting class on animals. It was in Door County Wisconsin which is vacation heaven. There are great places to eat, wonderful shopping of all sorts (galleries, clothing stores, kid stores, gifts of the area) with water on both sides of the peninsula. It was quite and peaceful in our little cabin. We had a wonderful time. Got completely worn out. Guess I need to take more classes to get my energy back. The theme of SDP conference is Party in the Heartland on May 13-18, 2019 in Wichita, Kansas. Get your reservations now! And next year will be HOOT's final convention in July from 14th-18th,2019. Of course we have upcoming Chapter classes to look forward to as well. Susan is sharing the Halloween Pumpkin on September 15th. Have my board all prepared when I realized I messed up my calendar. Ugh. I have to miss it. So paint pumpkins without me and have a great time. Nancy will take charge of the meeting at which there are two important items to consider: this years Christmas Party and Nominating committee for next year. Remember to bring your receipt from Painting Palooza in November so you can be reimbursed. National has been opening up boxes from the National Museum in Atlanta. How wonderful It is to see all the beautiful pieces unwrapped. The Society does need donations to help preserve and store these treasures. Please contact SDP with donations or questions (316) Donations are tax deductible. For every $50 donation they open up another box. Let's help get the boxes open! Keep your brushes moving, it's a very busy time of year. Linda Hospitality Nancy will bring morning snack
2 Vice President Programs 2 2 Wasn t that a wonderful program with Linda in July? Very interesting way to teach color theory, I know I learned a lot. Keep reminding yourself about all the things she you told while you are painting. You ll be surprised how easy it comes with practice. Practicing with paint swatches is a great tool. Susan will be teaching us a wonderful pumpkin design in September. Be sure to start your base coating early, there is quite a bit of it. It will make a wonderful Fall piece on your front door or in your living room. In November Jana will teach us a cute snowman. The pattern and color list is in this newsletter so you can get a hear start. We encourage Show and Share at each meeting and also projects that you think the membership might be interested in doing next year....have you done something in a different medium the members would like? Perhaps colored pencils, mixed media, oils, watercolor? An unusual surface? A new technique? A different way of doing an old technique? Using new products? Hopefully next year will be a great year of learning. Palooza is coming up and I know many will be taking different classes there. Let s keep painting and having fun. Reminder: September meeting has been changed to September 15 Same time Same place Chapter Service Project I still have plenty of bags that need to be painted. We are painting the bags for the Dallas VA hospital. The patients use these bags to carry their lunches, meds, books to read, and whatever they need for the long wait for their appointments. Please help paint these bags as they are greatly appreciated by the hospital. Contact Jana Reynolds if you would like to paint a few bags. Jsrmay54@sbcglobal.net Thank you all so much.

Please bring items you have. We might even find projects that the members would like to learn how to do. It is fun to have lots of pictures in the newsletter. I always seem to forget to take them.
