Even though Thanksgiving has come and gone, we at BQU have so many things to be thankful for: The sharing and giving of our members through our charity quilts. The generosity of all of our volunteers. The fun we have together (Quilto was a rousing success!) The joy of the friendships we ve formed. The love of quilting shared with so many others. Speaking of friendship, fun, and sharing, the Fall retreat was a huge success. So many quilters and projects and gifts, and so much laughter! The Martelli demonstration and sales proved to be a very popular event, and the plethora of door prizes was nothing less than amazing. I think I speak for us all when I thank Burke QU meetings will take place at: Sangster Elementary School 7420 Reservation Drive Springfield, VA nd and 4th Wednesdays, 7pm Except as noted in Upcoming Events/ Website Renee and Terri so very much for all of the hard work that went into bringing us such a wonderful weekend. More friendship, fun and sharing will be had at the holiday social on December 14th. Jessica and her committee have been hard at work planning a very special evening for us. I hope you ve RSVP d. Read more about that later in the newsletter, and plan to come join us. I wish you all a wonderful holiday season filled with love and laughter - and maybe a little quilting! Piecefully, Barb

5 Page 5 Back to School Night in January January 25th will be a chance to learn something new in the quilting world from our members. We usually have about 6 tables to visit in 15- minute intervals. I'm looking for members who would like to share their particular trick or revisit a cool method. I thank Jean Taylor who will be compiling a list of ideas at her table (she welcomes good ideas from you too), and Barb Sherwood who will be showing how to piece circles in fabric. So please, if you have something to share, contact me so I can add your name to the list. Thanks! Linda Cooper Seen on a sweatshirt "I turn thread and fabric into quilts. What s your superpower?
6 Page 6 BQU Bees & Other Jobs Since we are still without a beekeeper, I will put on that hat for a moment. I d like to get a list of all of our bees - their names and meeting times - and ask if any of you who have evening meetings have room for one more quilting friend. We have someone looking for an evening bee. Please have someone from each bee respond to me at bsherwood@cox.net. Thanks! Barb The other available positions are: VP/Programs Asst - should be willing to take the VP/ Admin slot next year Big QU Fall Event 2017 (Big QU will find the speaker) Contact Barb Sherwood at bsherwood@cox.net to volunteer.
