2 1.1 CHENTA Company Profle 1 1. IN 1960, Mr. Mao Cheng Chen, presdent of the company, and two other colleagues n the department of Mechancal Engneerng of the Tanan Engneerng College (predecessor of Cheng Kung Unversty) establshed a company called Chen Ta Machnery Works". It was named Chen Ta" n remembrance of, and also gvng acknowledgement to, ther alma mater, Cheng Kung Unversty (called Chen Ta n short) from where Mr. Chen and hs colleagues had receved ther specalzed mechancal educaton. 2. Chen Ta Machnery Works specalzed n machnng jobs such as grndng/re-buldng of the crankshafts of automoble and vessel engnes, cylnder overhaul, and desel engne adjustment. Back then, she was the best of her feld n southern Tawan. Due to the excellent technque and the cordal servce, the company name was soon well known and the busness became prosperous.. In 1971, to support a long-term operaton, the company needed ts own products, so the techncal cooperaton between CHENTA and Japan reducer manufacturer began. From then on, CHENTA started manufacturng under propretary, CHENTA GEAR REDUCERS. Now the company has about 100 employees, and ts products have been marketng to the world under the name of CHENTA. The major markets are n Tawan, Asa, and North Amerca. In Tawan, she remans at the top of the feld and also establshed branch offces n Amerca and n Shangha (n Chna). 4. Snce the begnnng of the company, our convcton s to Gather excellent human resource, and research and manufacture hgh qualty products. Our product polcy s targetng at Guaranteed Qualty, On Tme Delvery, Compettve Prces, nal Producton, and Internatonal Marketng. 5. Wth more than 50 years of experence n mechancal manufacturng and honest operaton, a fne culture has naturally grown nsde the corporaton. Ths sprt s the most precous resource of our company. 3 1.2 Helcal - Bevel Gear Reducers Advantages 1>Desgn Concepts: The combnaton of standardzaton and modularzaton allowed nterchangeablty wth nternatonal leadng brands, whle keepng structure rgdty and compactness. 2>Nose Level: Leveragng the advantage of hgh effcency of helcal gears and bevel gears, the reducers perform wth hgher stablty and produce less nose. 1 >s Selectons: The rato ranges between 8:1 ~ 215:1, provdng more accommodaton to rato requrements than worm gear speed reducers. 4>Loadng Capacty: Avalable wth power ranges from 1/4 up to 0, dependng on dfferent requrements and applcatons. 5>Tensle Strength: Pnon and gears are made wth 20CrMo alloy steel plus carburzaton treatment. 6>Space Effcency: Provdes 90 degree angle transmsson smlar to that of worm gear unts to mnmze space needed for nstallaton. 7>Installaton Flexblty: All models are desgned for varous mountng poston (M1~M6) specfed by customers. 8>Appearance Aesthetcs: The reducers are desgned wth modern exteror whle mantaned hgh rgdty. 5

4 1. Operaton Manual 1.Ths operaton manual s to help you nstall and operate speed reducer correctly. To avod damages to the speed reducers, proper nstallaton and operaton s very crucal. Ths manual also ncludes offcal recommendatons on mantenance for an extended lfespan of speed reducers..every CHENTA speed reducer passed strct nspecton and testng before beng properly packaged for shppng. Upon recept of the speed reducer, please check for any shortage or damage of parts durng transt. Please be sure to contact Chenta for dentfcaton of responsble carrer and made record of the ssue. We are commtted to excellence n qualty and devoted to solvng problems for our clents. I. Installaton 1. Flexble couplngs are preferred when nput shaft connects drectly to the motor; gear couplngs are preferred on the output shaft s connecton to the applcaton. 2. Install on a stable base wth good ar ventlaton; the accessblty of ol fllng / dranng should be consdered.. The nput shaft of the reducer and the motor shaft should be n algnment wthn the tolerance allowance. 4. After nstallaton, please turn the nput shaft manually frst to check for any lockng. 5. No-load runnng test should be performed frst; any abnormalty should be corrected pror to regular operaton. II. Lubrcaton 1. The frst ol change should be performed after 500 hrs of operaton; subsequent ol change s needed every 2,500 hrs of operaton. Nevertheless, a regular check on ol level and condtons are recommended. 2. Please fll only wth compatble specfcatons of ol and do not mx ol of dfferent specfcatons n a sngle unt.. The nteror of the reducer should be flushed and draned before fllng wth fresh ol. 4. Please shut the reducer mmedately for nspecton f the temperature rses above 80 C or any abnormal nose occurred. Restart only after the ssues dentfed and cleared. 5. Lubrcant recommendaton: MOBIL Gear 62, SHELL Omala 20, MOBIL Moblube HD80W-90, SHELL Sprax E.P Unless specfed otherwse by the customer, every CHENTA speed reducer s suppled wth approprate amount of lubrcaton accordng to dfferent nstallaton poston before shppng. If customer prefers to fll n the lubrcant ol post shpment, please follow the nstructon secton of ths catalog. III. Storage 1. If the speed reducer s not for mmedate nstallaton, please keep the unt away from humdty and heat sources. After extended perod of storage, please contact our servce personnel for nstructon on restorng the orgnal performance pror to nstallaton. 6

5 IV. Attachments the parts on reducer's shaft 1. Notce: Avod heavy mpact on shafts! It may cause bearng damages and undermnes bearng performances. If bearngs are to be replaced, we recommend heatng method, whch heats the bearng above 80, that would allow a clear ft on the shafts and reduce the damage to the bearng. For the tolerance of shaft s dameter, please refer to the specfcaton n catalog. 2. Whle nstallng the couplng, make sure to check the algnment of couplng and shaft of speed reducer properly to elmnate the damage on bearngs and reduce to vbraton frequency and abnormal wear.. To avod overload on the bearngs of output shaft, please refer to the (overhung loadng) n catalog. For exceedng axal load, please contact our servce engneer for consultaton. 4. The actual applcaton of followng factors such as nput and output speed, drecton of rotaton, nstallaton ste and over axal and radal loadng should be carefully examned. 1 V. Installaton & Operaton 1. The underlyng factors should be taken nto consderaton: * Ambent temperature below 40 * Locaton wth good ar ventlaton * Proper postons for ol plug and dran plug * Suffcent space for perodcal nspecton, mantenance, and replacement 2. It s necessary for the unt to be nstalled on a flat, stable and rgd base for accurate algnment to prevent damages to the reducer's housng.. The suggested tolerance of flatness on base: * For sze 77 or smaller: < 0.1mm/m * For sze 87 or bgger: < 0.2mm/m 4. To avod the lubrcant splash out durng the transportaton, breather plug wth red pn nserted nto ar breathng hole. Please remove the red pn before start-up. 5. Before nstallaton, please check the nput horsepower and rato to be the same as the punched name plate of reducer. VI. Cauton Cauton! The power should be turned off before removal or replacement of the reducer. 1. Ol level and qualty lubrcant s key pont of daly mantenance. Please refer to our suggeston to change the lubrcant perodcally accordng to operaton frequency ste stuaton. 2. Check the algnment of couplng, the tghtness of chan, and nuts and keep the reducer away from excessve dust and grease externally. 7

6 1.4 General Problems & Improvements The followng lsts are general problem stuatons. In case that other problems happen, please contact us drectly to get more nformaton. 1 CAUSE REASON IMPROVEMENT 1. Overload 1. Adjust to proper loadng 2. Lubrcant ol overfll or shortage 2.
