Typcal applcatons nclude not only new constructon but also replacement swtchgear for nstallatons prevously equpped wth -nch (0. mm) wde ar-break devces. Ths lne of swtchgear has also been utlzed where, 0 A, MVA applcatons are commonplace, such as generator and control applcatons. Ratngs The -nch (0. mm) wde swtchgear lne s desgned for use wth Cutler- Hammer Type VCPW-ND Narrow Desgn vacuum crcut breakers rated., 0 BIL, MVA, 0 A maxmum, wth rated man bus of 0 or A. For nstallatons requrng A man breakers wth 0 A feeders, lneups can be bult wth standard -nch (. mm) wde man breaker cubcles and -nch (0. mm) wde feeders. Confguratons -Inch (0. mm) Wde Standard Model The -nch (0. mm) wde desgn s flexble. Avalable confguratons nclude breaker over breaker, one or two auxlary drawers over breaker, breaker over one or two auxlary drawers, or up to four auxlary drawers n one vertcal secton. The standard heght and depth are -nch (.0 mm) and -/-nch (. mm) respectvely. A breaker over auxlary, or auxlary over breaker combnaton can be suppled n reduced depth of -/-nch (0. mm). The depth of breaker over breaker combnaton can also be reduced to -/-nch (0. mm) f power cables for top breaker enter from the top and the cables for bottom breaker enter from the bottom. The man bus locaton and connectons n the standard -nch (.0 mm) hgh -nch (0. mm) wde desgn are 0% compatble wth standard -nch (.0 mm) hgh -nch (. mm) wde vertcal sectons. As a result, addtons to exstng Cutler-Hammer, MVA -nch (. mm) wde VCP-W nstallatons can be smply and rapdly performed wthout costly system modfcatons and transton sectons. Refer to Pages.- and.- for avalable confguratons, dmensons and weghts. -Inch (0. mm) Wde Low Profle Model In addton to the floor space savng offered by the standard -nch (0. mm) wde model, a further savng n the heght and depth of the swtchgear s also avalable. Where heght and depths are an ssue, such as an outdoor powerhouse or n a moble power contaner, the standard -nch (.0 mm) hgh unt can be reduced to an 0-nch hgh (.0 mm), -nch (. mm) deep low profle model. Man bus ratng avalable n the 0-nch (.0 mm) hgh x -nch (. mm) deep low profle model s lmted to 0 A maxmum. It s not compatble n sze or locaton wth standard -nch (0. mm) wde or -nch (. mm) wde, -nch (.0 mm) hgh VCP-W unts. The low profle model s desgned to house breaker over auxlary or auxlary over breaker, or auxlary over auxlary. In order to provde maxmum vertcal space for power cable termnatons, auxlary over breaker confguraton should be used for customer s top entrance cables, and breaker over auxlary confguraton should be used for customer s bottom entrance cables. Auxlary compartments are desgned to accommodate one or two auxlary drawers. That s, up to four auxlary drawers can be nstalled n an auxlary over auxlary confguraton. A set of two lne-to-lne or three lne-to-ground connected voltage transformers, or a sngle-phase control power transformer up to A can be nstalled n each auxlary drawer. Because of the reduced depth, control devces cannot be located on breaker compartment door. control devces should be located on the auxlary compartment doors. Refer to Pages.- for avalable confguratons, dmensons and weghts. For all -nch (0. mm) wde confguratons, multfuncton mcroprocessorbased relays and meters, such as Cutler-Hammer Dgtrp 000 and IQ meters are recommended for reduced panel space. 2 December 0 Sheet 00 Metal-Clad Swtchgear VacClad-W Medum Voltage Techncal Data Standard VCP-W Crcut Breakers.- Dscusson of changes n the Voltage Range Factor, K, or K-Factor n Crcut Breaker Ratng Structure In and edtons of ANSI C.0, under Table, preferred values for the rated voltage range factor, K, were set to.0 for all ndoor crcut breaker ratngs. Ths was done because nterruptng capabltes of today s vacuum crcut breakers are better represented by K =.0. Unlke old ar-magnetc and ol crcut breakers, today s vacuum breakers generally do not requre a reducton n nterruptng current, as the operatng voltage s rased to rated maxmum voltage, for example from. up to. The nterruptng capablty of vacuum crcut breakers s essentally constant over the entre range of operatng voltages, up to and ncludng ts rated maxmum voltage. The change was also made as a step towards harmonzng preferred ANSI ratngs wth the preferred ratngs of IEC standards. It was further recognzed that t s much smpler to select and apply crcut breakers rated on the bass of K =.0. The change n the K value, however, n no way affects the ratngs and capabltes of crcut breakers orgnally tested and rated on the bass of K > n the earler edtons of C.0. Exstng crcut breakers, wth ratngs based on K >.0, are stll perfectly vald, meet the latest edtons of the standards, and should be contnued to be appled as they have been n the past. The orgnal K >.0 ratngs are nether obsolete nor nferor to the new K =.0 ratngs; they are just dfferent. The new and edtons of ANSI standard C.0 stll nclude the earler K > ratngs as Table A and AA. The change from K >.0 to K =.0 should be mplemented by manufacturers as they develop and test new crcut breakers desgns. The change does not requre, recommend or suggest that manufactures re-rate and re-test exstng breakers to new standard. And accordngly, Eaton contnues to offer both crcut breakers rated on the tradtonal bass of K >.0 just as thousands of those breakers have been appled for varety of crcut swtchng applcatons world wde, and also as Eaton develops new breakers, they are rated and tested to the new K = ratngs. As a leader n vacuum nterrupton technology, Eaton contnues to provde a wde choce of modern vacuum crcut breakers so that user can select the most economcal crcut breaker that can satsfy hs crcut swtchng applcaton. Table.- ncludes capabltes of tradtonal crcut breakers rated on the bass of K >.0 as well as those rated on the bass of K =.0. Table.- ncludes newer crcut breaker desgns, rated on the bass of K =.0, and many of these also have other extra capabltes for those applcatons whose requrements go beyond what s usually experenced n normal dstrbuton crcut applcatons. 7 December 0 Sheet 00 Metal-Clad Swtchgear VacClad-W Medum Voltage Techncal Data Surge Protecton and Instrument Transformers.- Instrument Transformers Instrument transformers are used to protect personnel and secondary devces from hgh voltage, and permt use of reasonable nsulaton levels for relays, meters and nstruments. The secondares of standard nstrument transformers are rated at amperes and/or volts, 0 Hz. Voltage Transformers Selecton of the rato for voltage transformers s seldom a queston snce the prmary ratng should be equal to or hgher than the system lne-to-lne voltage. The number of potental transformers per set and ther connecton s determned by the type of system and the relayng and meterng requred. When two VTs are used, they are typcally connected L-L, and provde phase-to-phase voltages, (Vab, Vbc, Vca) for meterng and relayng. When three VTs are used, they are connected lne-to-ground, and provde phase-to-phase (Vab, Vbc, Vca), as well as phase-to-ground (Va, Vb, Vc) voltages for meterng and relayng. If meterng or relayng applcaton requres phase-to-ground voltages, use three VTs, each connected L-G. If not, use of two VTs connected L-L s suffcent. For ground detecton, three VTs connected n Lne-to-ground/brokendelta are used. A sngle VT, when used, can be connected lne-to-lne (t wll provde lne-to-lne output, for example Vab or Vbc or Vca), or lne-to-ground (t wll provde lne-to-ground output, for example Va or Vb or Vc). Generally, a sngle VT s used to derve voltage sgnal for synchronzng or Over Voltage/Under Voltage functon. Transformers The current transformer rato s generally selected so that the maxmum load current wll read about 0% full scale on a standard -ampere col ammeter. Therefore, the current transformer prmary ratng should be 0 0% of the maxmum load current. Maxmum system fault current can sometmes nfluence the current transformer rato selecton snce the connected secondary devces have publshed one-second ratngs. The zero-sequence current transformer s used for senstve ground fault relayng or self-balancng prmary current type machne dfferental protecton. The zero-sequence current transformer s avalable wth a nomnal rato of 0/ or 0/ and avalable openng sze for power cables of -/ nches (. mm). Specal zero-sequence transformers wth larger wndows are also avalable. The mnmum number of current transformers for crcut relayng and nstruments s three current transformers, one for each phase or -phase connected current transformers and one zero-sequence current transformer. Separate sets of current transformers are requred for dfferental relays. The mnmum pckup of a ground relay n the resdual of -phase connected current transformers s prmarly determned by the current transformer rato. The relay pckup can be reduced by addng one resdual connected auxlary current transformer. Ths connecton s very desrable on man ncomng and te crcuts of low resstance grounded crcuts. When utlzng the MP-000 Motor Protectve Relay, t s recommended that the rato of CT prmary ratng to the motor full load amperes (CTprm/Motor FLA) s selected to fall between 0. to.. Standard accuracy current transformers are normally more than adequate for most standard applcatons of mcroprocessor-based protectve relays and meters. See Table.- for CT accuracy nformaton. Table.-. Closng the breaker charges acceleratng sprngs. Protectve relays or the control swtch wll energze a shunt trp col to release the acceleratng sprngs and open the breaker. Ths requres a relable source of control power for the breaker to functon as a protectve devce. Typcal ac and dc control schematcs for type VCP-W crcut breakers are shown on Pages.- and.-. For ac control, a capactor trp devce s used wth each crcut breaker shunt trp to ensure that energy wll be avalable for trppng durng fault condtons. A control power transformer s requred on the source sde of each ncomng lne breaker. Closng bus te or bus sectonalzng breakers wll requre automatc transfer of control power. Ths control power transformer may also supply other ac auxlary power requrements for the swtchgear. For dc control, t would requre a dc control battery, battery charger and an ac auxlary power source for the battery charger. The battery provdes a very relable dc control source, snce t s solated from the ac power system by the battery charger.
