To check your nternet speed, call your nternet company. PetChatz should be n a locaton where W-F sgnal strength s good or excellent. The sgnal strength wll dsplay on your PetChatz screen after connectng to your network. 2 TREAT CHUTE Browser Recommendatons PetChatz setup and use works best wth Google Chrome and Mozlla Frefox browsers. 3

4 Mount the Wall Bracket PetChatz cannot guarantee unt and pet safety f these nstallaton nstructons are not followed Identfy your PetChatz mountng locaton and dsconnect power to the electrcal outlet at the man fuse box. 6 If you re mountng onto a kennel door, please vew page 12 for nstallaton steps. Identfy the locaton of the wall stud (on the left or rght sde of electrcal outlet). Remove whte cover and set asde. o Lft sde latches upward smultaneously. o Slde cover toward you. o Release the latches. Unscrew the 3 mountng bracket screws from the front of the PetChatz unt and remove the mountng bracket. The mountng bracket screws are located on the upper left, lower left and lower rght sdes of your PetChatz unt. Set the screws asde. 7

The mountng bracket has 3 screw holes on the rght sde of outlet cutout and 3 screw holes on the left sde of the outlet (6 total). Usng a pencl, mark the screw placement so that the 3 wood screws wll be secured nto the wall stud and the 1 drywall screw wll be secured nto a drywall anchor. We recommend usng the center hole for the drywall anchor screw. All 3 holes should be used on the stud sde. Screw the drywall anchor n the marked locaton. Wth wall mount bracket n the proper poston, secure wth wood screws nto the mountng bracket holes over the wall stud. [NOTE: You may need to pre-drll plot holes nto the wall stud. In ths case, make sure that the plot holes are no more than half the sze (length and dameter) as the screws]. 9

Fgure A Fgure B Fnshng Up PLUG THE PETCHATZ UNIT INTO YOUR ELECTRICAL OUTLET Plug the USB power supply plug nto the back of your PetChatz unt. Note: Your PetChatz system ncludes a USB type B connector and port (see Fgure A). Insert the type B cord nto the type B port. Plug the USB power supply plug nto your wall s electrcal outlet. 9 Once the wood screws are n place, secure the drywall screw nto the drywall anchor. If the mountng bracket does not ft over the wall plate, please revew page 22. Fgure C ATTACH PETCHATZ UNIT TO YOUR MOUNTING BRACKET Usng the three (3) mountng bracket screws, re-attach the PetChatz unt to your mountng wall bracket usng a Phllps screwdrver. (as shown n Fgure B). TURN ON THE PETCHATZ UNIT Reconnect power to the electrcal outlet at the man fuse box. Turn on the power swtch on the bottom front rght sde of the unt (Fgure C). The PetChatz logo wll dsplay brefly on the screen. Note: It may take a few moments to power up. UNIT LIGHTS o Green lght to the left of Manual Treat Dspense button Power on LED. 10 o Amber lght to the rght of Manual Treat Dspense button Low Treat LED. 11

7 Kennel Door Installaton Connect to your wreless network PetChatz can be safely used n a kennel as well. 1 2 Attach the mountng bracket to the PetChatz unt usng the 3 mountng bracket screws. Place the PetChatz unt aganst the nsde surface of the kennel and thread 2 zp tes through the kennel wre and mountng bracket as shown. Ensure your wreless router s plugged n and connected to your nternet. Verfy wreless network s accessble (wreless router s plugged n and connected), and have network SSID (network name) and securty key (password) nformaton avalable We recommend threadng the zp te through the two outer openngs for greater stablty. Secure the zp tes. Plug the USB power supply plug nto an extenson cord. Secure the extenson cord plug head to the kennel so there s no tenson on the PetChatz USB power supply plug. The frst tme the PetChatz unt s powered on, the unt wll automatcally boot nto Confguraton Mode allowng for mmedate network confguraton. Confgure the wreless network connecton. You have two confguraton optons: A. Wreless-WPS Push Button B. Wreless-Web Interface 12 If your wreless router does not have a Wreless-WPS Push Button, we recommend usng the Wreless-Web Interface method of connecton. 13

8 Connect to Your Wreless Network Contnued Regster your PetChatz Go to A IF USING WIRELESS-WPS PUSH BUTTON CONFIGURATION: Press the manual treat button for one second to scroll through the confguraton optons. Select Wreless-WPS Push Button on the menu dsplayed on the PetChatz unt by pressng and holdng the manual treat button for 3 seconds. Wthn 60 seconds, press the WPS button on your wreless router. Follow the onlne nstructons for creatng a PetChatz account. Remember/Save your user name and password, as you wll need t when loggng nto the PetChatz App on your moble devce(s). Once you are logged nto your PetChatz account, you have the ablty to add new PetChatz unts, add pet profle nformaton, and connect to PetChatz unts. The dsplay on the PetChatz unt wll ndcate a successful connecton to your wreless network. If connecton fals, use the Wreless-Web Interface confguraton method. Addng a new PetChatz unt B IF USING THE WIRELESS-WEB INTERFACE CONFIGURATION: Press the manual treat button for one second to scroll through the confguraton optons. Select the Wreless-Web Interface on the menu dsplayed on the PetChatz unt by pressng and holdng the manual treat button for 3 seconds Enter a name for the PetChatz unt (Pet s name, locaton, etc.). Enter the 4-dgt sync code dsplayng on the screen of the PetChatz unt. Agree to the End User Lcense Agreement Press Accept to complete the parng process. The PetChatz unt wll enable a temporary wreless network named PetChatzSetup. Connect a wreless unt (ex. laptop or phone) to the PetChatzSetup w-f network. No securty nformaton s requred to access ths temporary network. Open a web browser on the connected wreless unt, go to and follow the on-screen nstructons. Addng a new Pet Profle Note: To access the confguraton menu after the confguraton s complete, press the manual treat button for 3 seconds and select Wreless Confguraton. Select My Pets from the PetChatz app menu optons. Select (+) button and enter the pet s nformaton, ncludng the pet name, breed, age, etc. Press Done to complete the profle addton. 15

9 Load PetChatz Treatz Remove cap on PetChatz Treatz cup (treat cup). If not preflled, fll the treat cup wth PetChatz Treatz. 16 Remove whte cover. PETCHATZ TREATZ HINTS: Over tme treats can start to brdge together and get stuck n the treat cup. We recommend that you gently shake treat cup once each day. Low treat level ndcator wll be trggered when there are less than 30 treats left n the cup. Only use full cups of PetChatz Treatz to ensure Low Treat Indcator functon. PetChatz Treatz have a unque shape and sze and are made wth a propretary recpe specfcally desgned for use n the PetChatz system. Usng any other treat may clog the system or cause other damage (and vod the One Year Lmted Warranty). Perodcally, two treats may be dspensed or none at all when the treat dspense button s depressed. Smply depress the treat dspense button agan to ensure a treat s dspensed. Place the treat hopper on top of the treat cup pressng frmly to ensure the cup s completely seated n the treat hopper. Replace the cover Holdng the treat hopper handle, turn the hopper upsde down (so that the treat cup s on top of the treat hopper) and place loaded treat hopper nto the PetChatz unt. Make sure the treat hopper s seated flush and coupled to the hopper couplng. Reset the low treat ndcator by selectng Treat Count Reset on the man menu, and pressng and holdng the manual treat button untl you hear an audble beep confrmng the treat count s reset. Algn the whte cover wth the wall-mounted PetChatz unt. o The square cutout should be postoned at the bottom of the unt. o The sde tabs should be algned wth the slots on the left and rght sdes of the wall-mounted PetChatz unt. Gently push the whte cover nto poston over the PetChatz unt. If properly nstalled, a clck should be heard for each sde (left and rght). 17

10 Load PetChatz Scentz Pads 1 2 3! We recommend consstent, calmng scents not normally found n the home. Remove whte cover. Place 4-6 drops of PetChatz Scentz Essental Ol Drops on the PetChatz Scentz pad. Insert scent pad untl you meet resstance. PETCHATZ SCENTZ HINTS: We recommend usng 4-6 drops of PetChatz Scentz Essental Ol Drops every 1 to 3 days. Replace the cover Algn the whte cover wth the wall-mounted PetChatz unt. 18 Replace the scent pad when t has become hardened or dscolored. Other scents may be used on the scent pad. 11 Chattng wth Your Pet To start a chat sesson: COMPUTER: go to and select chat wth your pet. MOBILE: Download and/or open the PetChatz applcaton on your moble devce. Press the camera button when you would lke to capture your pets shenangans n Slent Mode or Chat Mode. Press the rngtone button to play the rngtone agan f your pet does not ntally respond, or walks away durng the chat. Press the treat button each tme you want to gve your pet a treat. Sgn nto your PetChatz account. Select the PetChatz unt you would lke to call. The applcaton wll open and you wll be n Slent Mode. In Slent Mode, you can observe your pet wthout your pet knowng t. Press the chat button when you want to call your pet. The PetChatz rngtone wll sound and the scent fan wll turn on dspensng scent. Press the end button when you are fnshed chattng wth your pet to return to Slent Mode. Your pet wll hear an audble tone that confrms the call s done. Press the hang up button to end your call, or press the chat button to return to Chat Mode

12 Removng Outlet Wall Plates Some decoratve wall plates may need to be removed for the proper mountng of PetChatz. Removng wall plates requres some attenton to basc safety precautons. However, wth reasonable care a homeowner can easly complete the process. Step 1 TURN OFF THE POWER Go to the breaker box of the home and turn off the breaker supplyng power to the outlet. Whle ths may seem unnecessary, there s a dstnct possblty that you wll come n contact wth the outlet tself as you remove the wall plate, and you can experence severe shock n those cases. Snce breakers are often sparsely labeled or ncorrectly labeled, be sure to leave an applance such as a lamp or loud rado plugged nto the outlet and turned on so that you know when you have turned off the power. Step 2 DETERMINE IF TOOLS ARE NEEDED Remove the screws from the decoratve plate: Wall plates come n a varety of styles, the most common of whch are the one or two screw styles*. Determne f you need a Phllps or a flathead screwdrver, and remove the screws from the wall plate. General Hnts Manual Treat Dspense To dspense a treat drectly from the PetChatz unt, smply press the Manual Treat Dspense button located on the front of the unt (as shown n Fgure A). A treat wll be mmedately dspensed from the PetChatz unt and appear from the treat chute. Cleanng Your PetChatz Unt Weekly cleanng of the treat hopper and treat chute s recommended. Use a soft cloth and warm water. Usng detergents or chemcals s not recommended. Usng a damp cloth, wpe all surfaces of the treat hopper and nternal surface of the treat chute. You may need to use a damp cotton swab to remove treat fnes from crevces.
