7 INSTALLATION 1. Find a suitable lcatin in the vehicle t munt the amplifier. 2. Make sure there is sufficient air flw arund the intended munting lcatin. 3. Blt the amplifier t the munting surface. 4. Cunect the pwer grund terminal t the nearest pint n the cl1assis f the car. Keep this grund wire less than ne meter (39") in length. Use 8 gauge wire. 5. Cunect the remte terminal t the remte utput f the head unit using 14 gauge wire. 6. Cunect an empty fuse hlder within 300 mm (12") f the battery and run 8 gauge r larger high quality cable frm this fuse t the amplifier lcatin. 7. Make sure there is n fuse in this fuse hlder. Then make the cnnectin t the "BATf" cnnectin n the amplifier. 8. If multiple amplifiers are being used, use cables (eacll with its wn fuse at the battery) r a #0 r #2 cable frm the fuse hlder at the battery t a distributin blck at r near the amplifier's lcatin. 9. Cnnect all line inputs and utputs using high-quality RCA-RCA cables. 10. Iusert fuse(s) at the batteryfusehlder(s). 11. Recheck all cnnectius befre pwering up. 12. Set all level cntrls t their least sensitive psitins and set all crssver cntrls, switcl1es, etc. t the desired frequency r psitin. 13. Once the system is pwered up, set the vlume cntrl n the head unit t abut the 2 'clck psitin, and then set all the amplifiers'level cntrls fr maximum utput level. 14. Further fine tuning f the varius cntrls may be necessary t btain the desired results....» PRE - Befre yu drill r cut any hles, investigate yur car's layut veiy carefully. Take care when yu wrk near the gas tank, fuel lines, hydraulic lines and electrical wiring. D nt perate the amplifier when it is unmunted. Attach all audi system cmpnents securelywithin the autmbile t prevent damage, especially in an accident. D nt munt this amplifier s that the wire cnnectins are unprtected r in a pinched cnditin, r likely t be damaged by nearby bjects. Be sure t select a lcatin inside yur vehicle which has adequate ventilatin. Befre making r breaking pwer cnnectins in yur system, discnnect the vehicle battery. Cnfirm that yur head unit r ther equipment is turned ff wbile cnnecting the input jacks and speaker terminals. If yu need t replace the pwer fuse, nly replace it with a fuse identical t that supplied with the system. 15 AMPLIFIER WILL NOT POWER UP. Check fr gd grund cnnectin. Check that remte DC terminal has at least 3v DC. Check that there is battery pwer n the + terminal. Check all fuses. Check that Prtectin LED is nt lit. If it is lit, shut ff amplifier briefly and then repwer it. HIGH HISS OR ENGINE NOISE (ALTERNATOR WHINE) IN SPEAKERS. Discnnect all RCA inputs t the amplifier(s) - ifhiss/nise disappears, then plug in the cmpnent driving the amplifier and unplug its inputs. Ifhiss/nise disappears, g n until the faulty/nisy cmpnent is fund. It is best t set the amplifier's input level as lw as pssible. The best subjective SIN rati is btainable this way. Try t drive as high a signal level frm the head unit as pssible. PROTECTION LED COMES ON WHEN THE AMPLIFIER IS POWERED UP. Check fr shrts n speaker leads. Check that the vlume cntrl n the head unit is turned dwn lw. Remve speaker leads, and reset the amplifier. If the Prtectin LED still cmes n, then the amplifier is faulty. AMPLIFIER(S) GETS VERY HOT. Check that the minimum speaker impedance fr that mdel is crrect. Check fr speaker shrts. Check that there is gd airflw arund the amplifier. In sme applicatins, an external cling fan may be required. DISTORTED SOUND Check that the Level cntrl(s) is set t match the signal level f the head unit. Check that all crssver frequencies have been prperly set. Check fr shrts n the speaker leads.
