Presidents Message Hello Friends, Please make welcome our new members! Rebecca Gary and Paul Wimp. QUILT SHOW!!! With the preliminary report given at our meeting by Quilt Show Treasurer Beth Hunter it looks like we had a great show. I want to thank everyone that helped from the Committee, getting things from the Fairgrounds, setup, during the show, take down and taking them back Fairgrounds. Thank YOU!! It was wonderful to have you and your families and/or friends helping during the show. As you know it took all of us working together for it to be successful! Remember your Resolution Quilts is to be shown during our November meeting. I will be sending out the list of who committed to making and finishing their quilt. Also, make sure it is finished including label. I overlooked at Wednesday s meeting, to ask for a Chairperson for our Christmas party December 14th. I called Anne Aubrey and she has accepted to Chair the committee. Thank you so much Anne. Please be open to help when called upon. It will be good times for all. Remember this will be our monthly meeting. Since it is membership renewal time, please look at the roster to make sure your information is current; if it is not please etownstititches@gmail.com or call Beth Hunter at I will have some rosters printed at our next meeting, if you don t currently have one, to review. Guild Cancellation Policy If you sign up for workshops, classes or other activity you need to notify Patty Pruitt or Pat McMillen if you are cancelling. 4 Country Store My Fellow Stitchers Dawne Johnson Attention!!! Loucon Retreat! Kelly Pruitt Thank you for helping to make the 2016 Country Store such a success. Tentative figures are showing we took in about $2,500, so give yourself a pat on the back! You did a great job in helping us raise money by donating a ton (or so it seemed) of fabric, sewing notions, books, and other supplies. Our customers enjoyed loading up their baskets with your cast offs and settling in to peruse the hundreds of quilt magazines. One lady found the perfect (let s hope!) tan fabric to match a sofa needing repairs and another liked her Mystery Bag so much that she came back to buy a second one. Beginning quilters were excited to find bargains in their newly-found hobby and friends were showing fabrics they thought the other might like or could use in a particular project. Simple delights like those put smiles on our faces all day. Loucon Retreat - It's not long now until retreat time. If you plan on going but haven't signed up yet you need to at the October meeting. If you have only paid a deposit you need to pay the rest at the October meeting. We always have a wonderful time at retreat. Its a great time to get away and work on Christmas gifts. We always seem to learn something new. You really don't want to miss out. Cost for the entire weekend including meals is $ Sign ups close at the October meeting. With your efficient help, customers were taken care of quickly and the tables were kept as neatly as possible. I enjoyed working with all of you and hope we ll see you next year! 5 Meeting Minutes from September September 28, 2016 Social Time with Refreshments: 6:30 7:00 and meeting called to order at 7:00. Thank you to the Refreshment Committee: Anne Aubrey, Suzanne Shircliff, Mary Lois Hill, Dawne Johnson, Fran Hodges, and Mary Hikes Acknowledge Visitors & New Members (if any) Guest: Lesa Bennett, Paul Wimp, Rebeca Gray, Mickey McDowell, Shirley VanderMolen, and Millie Barker. Approval of Minutes: was presented in the Newsletter and are on the tables, discussion none motion by Sharon Whitfield, Seconded by Diane Zimmerman Treasurer s Report: Was in the Newsletter - discussion- filed for audit. November 30 th meeting Resolution Quilts shown, December 14 th Christmas Party. Secretary Barbara Jeffries Treasurer Margot VanLengen Receiving money for next year dues, $22.00 Quilt Show Darlene Chenault and Barbara Jeffries Darlene announced who won the Opportunity Quilt and Door Prizes. Dates for Quilt Show have already been set for 2017 and Thank you Beth. Beth Hunter Treasurer Went briefly over the finances of the Quilt Show as final report is still pending. Attendance was up, buying was down. Old Business Refreshment Committee Members are still encouraged to sign-up for refreshments. Need 4 for October and 6 for November. Quilts for Veterans Veteran s Nursing Home should open the beginning of next year. Please continue to make the lap quilts 36x48. Pat McMillian is collecting. We have reached our goal, now have 57. We are still accepting them. Resolution quilts shown in November. Reminder will be sent out to remind everyone what they signed up for. Ramona Peterson requested to show her quilt at this meeting so she could send it to family members out of town. This was voted on and the vote carried for her to show it at this meeting. Activity Survey Martha Brooks passed out to get ideas from members. New Business Homemakers Covered Bridge overnight Bus Trip October 18-19, $196. Per person. P.O.C. Fran Hodges, Extension Office. Wreaths Across America Requested funds - $150. Motion by Martha Claycomb, 2 nd Pat McMillian. Passed Announcements Quilted Ornaments Dayna Parrett request Stitchers to make and story about them. Patty Pruitt made motion we increase payment for Guild Work Shop to $75 and $125. Effective October 1, nd Amy Aldenderfer. Motion passed. Show and Tell Items that were shown were beautiful as always.
