Please welcome them into our Stitchers family. It is time to volunteer your time and talents in order to make our Quilt Show a success. The signup sheets and items needed are in full swing. Please step up and help, together it will be outstanding! I want to thank our officers 1 st Vice President Sharon Whitfield (finishing 2 year term), 2 nd Vice President Martha Brooks second term(1 year), Secretary Barbara Jeffries (finishing 2 year term) and Treasurer Betty Handcock (2 year term) for volunteering their time and talents to the club. I have enjoyed my first term as President (2 year term) because we have such a wonderful group and I am looking forward to the next two years. Thank you to ALL! Our program last meeting, Pam Heyna Trunk Show was very interesting. She was very bubbly and sincere in her presentation of her quilts. I hope everyone enjoyed it? Thank you Sharon Whitfield, for arranging the program for the guild. Just a reminder to be working on your UFO, it will be time to present before you know it (November). The Quilt Show meeting is June 19 th at 6:00 Project Room at the Extension Office, All welcome! Our next monthly meeting is June 28 th. 2 Workshops - Martha Brooks All classes are held at the Extension office, 201 Peterson Drive, in Elizabethtown. Classes are Friday evening and all day Saturday - unless otherwise noted. Changes could happen, and everyone will be notified of changes of dates and classes if needed via Stitchers . These classes are for beginners to advanced quilters. On Saturdays - please bring your lunch, sewing machine, and supplies needed. June 16th and 17th - UPDATE 16th UFO Friday evening 5pm-9pm 17th Twirl, $5.00 plus $9.50 pattern. 9am 4pm July 21st and 22nd Christmas in July with Patty Pruitt and Kelly Pruitt August 18, 19th (20th UFO) Cartwheel Workshop with Martha Claycomb October 13th and 14th Workshop with Anne Aubrey November 9-12 Loucon Retreat If there are questions, please me at marthasinklink@yahoo.com Guild Workshop Cancellation Policy If you sign up for workshops, classes or other activity, you need to notify Martha Brooks if you are cancelling. Refunds are only given with a 7 day notice of cancellation. HARDIN COUNTY FAIR The fair runs from July 10th thru July 15th. We need people to help setup, take in and hang quilts on Monday the 10th starting at 8am with breakfast. We will also need people to take quilts down, issue them back out and tear down on Sunday the 16th starting at 12pm. See quilt entry list attached in the newsletter. The July meeting is July 17th at 6pm. All meetings are held at the Extension Office in the Project Room Its time to start thinking about your quilt entries for this year. The entry form has been revamped and you can enter up to 5 quilts on one form. Look for the form in this newsletter. Dawn is collecting quilt/sewing related items for the Country Store at this time. Volunteers and Demos Signup with Virginia Coomes Vendors Choice Quilt This year our vendors choice competition will be two color quilts For example a red and blue quilt. You can have many reds and many blues, or it can be only one blue and one red. But only two colors. It can also be a quilt you have entered in the past. Vendors will vote for their favorite and the winner gets $50.00 The 1st National African American Quilt Conference July 12-15, 2017 Lawrence, Kansas There is still time to sign up for classes and lectures. 3 June Picnic Meeting The meeting will be catered by Coltons Steak House. Your cost is $5.00. You need to contact Margot VanLengen if you plan to attend and have not yet paid. Menu: BBQ Chicken and Smoked Beef Brisket Baked Beans Potato Salad and House Salad Dessert We will also be playing QUILTO Mini-Grant Application Stitcher s Quilt Guild now offers the opportunity for mini-grant awards to members who may want financial assistance to take a quilting workshop or attend another type of quilting program. Requests may be submitted for $100 or less and you need to plan on sharing the knowledge you gained at a Stitcher s Guild meeting. Other information is outlined on the application. Submission does not guarantee you will be awarded a grant, but it never hurts to apply. Applications are currently available for the 2017 year. Last day for submission is June 1 and awards will be announced at the June meeting. Applications are to be sent to Betty Hancock (Mini-Grant Committee Chair). You can find her address and on the membership roster. We are pleased to offer this opportunity to help our members in their quilting endeavors. Attached is a PDF of the application. UFO Friday Evening and Saturday Twirl Workshop June 16th from 5:00pm to 9:00pm. Come and work on UFO items or cut fabric for Saturdays workshop June 17th from 9:00am to 4pm. Falling Leaves workshop with Donna Thomas. This workshop is $5.00 plus $9.50 for the pattern. This is an easy pieced workshop. If you plan on going please contact Martha Brooks so that she can make sure there is a pattern for you and get you the supply list. The workshop is in the Auditorium and you need to provide your own lunch. Supply list is on our Facebook page. Contact Martha if you need one ed to you. Loucon Retreat - November 9th thru the 12th Time to get your registration in for the retreat. We have to have 15 people attending Thursday thru Sunday, paid in full by the June 28th meeting or we will have to cancel the retreat this year. This is a great time of year to finish projects for Christmas. Its also a great time to get away and relax from all the hustle and bustle of the upcoming holidays. The cost is only to get away for 4 days of quilting and fun time with friends. This price includes all meals. You can get the registration form in this newsletter. Talk to Kelly Pruitt about a friend that is not a member that may want to attend.

There are 2 as of now. Please continue to make the lap quilts 36x48. Pat McMillian is collecting. Hosparus Lap Quilts 36x48 quilted, crocheted or flannel. Susanne Shircliff will collect and deliver. Loucon Kelly Pruitt chairing must have 15 going full time and be paid in full by June 30. We have 16 people signed up. New Business Darlene Chenault, Anne Aubrey, Frances Heinen, and Barbara Jeffries attended the Annual Homemakers meeting 100% Attendance, Volunteer Hours and Books Read; Mini Grant Patty Pruitt, Mary Lois Hill, Margot VanLengen. Donetta Faulkner-Elmore and Cheri Green Postmaster Scholar Ship tickets for quilt $5 for 20. We want to thank Pam Heyna and Joann Jeffries for the Trunk Show. Pam showed and gave information about her beautiful quilts. Show and Tell Beautiful items were shown by many members. Thank you for sharing your talent with the rest of the Guild. 7 QUILT ENTRY INFORMATION (Please KEEP this portion for quilt delivery and pick-up information.) 1. Fill out form completely. All information is required for insurance purposes, along with a full view color photo of each quilt. Should you be unable to provide a picture, one will be taken for a cost of $1.00 that you must provide with this form. 2. Quilt Entry Form must be received by August 30, You may cancel your quilt entry by September 9, Please contact Teresa Jenkins, Quilt Curator at so your entry can be deleted from the roster. 3. Quilt Delivery Date: Thursday September 28, 2016 from 9am to 3pm at Pritchard Community Center. 4. Quilts will be hung as they are received at Pritchard Community Center. Every attempt will be made to display all quilts so that the entire length can be viewed. Since this is not always possible, we apologize in advance if your quilt is not displayed as you think it should be. 5. All quilts MUST have a fabric label attached to the back. At a minimum include: the name of the quilt as it appears on the entry form and your name. 6. If you would like to sell your quilt, tell us the price and we will put it on the quilt label we provide. 10% of sales will go toward the quilt show. 7. Quilt Pick-up: Saturday September 30 th from 5:00pm to 6:00pm and not before (NO EXCEPTIONS.) You must sign your quilt out on the entry log where you signed it in on Thursday. 8. You can mail your Entry Forms, please contact Teresa Jenkins at for address and to inform that you will be sending it in. Forms must be received by August 30 th. 9. 9 Hardin County Fair Below are the rules for the Family Living Department of the County Fair and the Quilt Entry Categories. We would love to see a great showing from out members. Please show up to help setup and take in quilts and hang them on Monday the 10th. Breakfast and lunch are usually provided. SECTION 9 FAMILY LIVING DEPARTMENT Chairman: Darlene Chenault RULES: 1. Exhibits will be accepted Monday, July 10, 2017, beginning at 10:00 a.m. and ending at 4:00 p.m. NO EXHIBITS WILL BE ACCEPTED AT ANY OTHER TIME. 2. Exhibitor will be limited to one entry in each class, but may exhibit in all classes. 3. If there is more than one article in any exhibit they should be fastened together. 4. Perishable food should be covered with clear transparent material. 5. All canned foods must be in standard jars with rings and must be sealed. NO rusty lids or rings accepted. 6. When one article is entered in a class, it will be judged on its merit for first, second or third prize or none at all. 7. Items having won first prize in 2016 are not eligible for exhibiting in Items not winning first place will be limited to entry for two years only. 9. All entries MUST be made by the person entering except in collectible items. 10. All quilts must be quilted by the exhibitor, except in categories 19, 20, 21, and All exhibitors must be a resident of Hardin County. 12. Absolutely no soiled items accepted. 13. All items should be kept intact for display until Sunday, July 16, Exhibits must be picked up between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. Sunday, July 16, In each Family Living section there will be a sponsored award and a Best of Show ribbon. 16. After 3:00 p.m. all exhibitors may have to pay the gate admission when making an entry. Exhibitors to which this will apply should plan to have an evening at the fair. 17. Exhibitors are encouraged to use address labels on exhibit entry tags. 18. Fair Board is not responsible for any damage to fair entries. Exhibit at your own risk. 19. Flower Department Entries will be taken from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Judging will be at 4:30 p.m. 20. All culinary items will be judged on Monday, July 10, 2017 at 4:30 p.m. 21. All other entries will be judged on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at 8:00 a.m. 22. Judges decisions are final!
