We have a solution that s right for you! Anita s News Our 4 unique Clubs will help you choose the best option for your embroidery needs! Our Diamond Club was created 8 years ago to give our customers new designs every month at a discounted price. The last year has brought many changes at Anita Goodesign including the introduction of our quilting line. We have had feedback from both machine embroiderers wanting more embroidery designs and our customers who make embroidered quilts requesting more quilting designs. So we decided to make some changes, by adding a club for quilting. If you are a current Diamond Club or Platinum Club member you will continue to receive those designs for the remainder of the year. If you would prefer to have the remainder of your membership converted to Quilting Club designs we can do that as well. Simply Emily Whitaker at ewhitaker@anita-goodesign.com and she will make sure your next packet is for the Quilting Club. We also have a new club for our customers who want everything, called the VIP Club. Of course no matter which club you are a member of our trade out policy still applies, you can always trade for a quilting design or an embroidery design. Here are the details on all of the clubs. 4 September Releases Nativity 2012 /Full Collection Diamond Club About 5 years ago we created our first Nativity Tile Scene. Since then we have had multiple requests to create another version. We gave this collection to a different artist to draw. The end result is an entirely different scene using the same subject matter. We used brighter fabrics for this collection and changed the perspective of the drawing to create larger characters and stable. We also wanted the scene to look like it was floating on a background with a flowing border. The end result is amazing! Classic Cutwork Blocks Vintage Full Collection Cupcakes / Mini Collection Diamond Club For the Classic Cutwork collection we borrowed the concept from our Mix and Match Quilting line and combined it with vintage cutwork. The end result is 20 beautiful cutwork blocks that you would assemble in the same fashion as one of our quilts. You can create pillows, tablecloths, quilts, place mats or table runners with these designs. The designs themselves are truly spectacular. Each of the 20 designs combines cutwork with puffy applique and finishes with a decorative candle-wicking stitch. Once finished you can back the cutwork with decorative fabric like silk, satin or organza to finish the projects. Each block comes in 4 sizes 7.8 x 7.8, 6.8 x6.8, 5.8 x 5.8 and 4.8 x 4.8. All of the block sizes are fully compatible with all of the Anita Goodesign Mix and Match Quilt collections. Holiday Monogram Full Collection Who doesn t love cupcakes? This is a collection of 24 whimsical cupcake designs that are quick and easy to embroider. All 24 designs fit in the 5 x7 hoop and look wonderful on anything you decide to stitch them on. We used scraps of fabric and created small tea towels for our project. They make great gifts for any cupcake aficionado! Here at Anita Goodesign we ve noticed that monogramming is making a resurgence in high end boutiques. When we were coming up with ideas for this years Christmas Collections we wanted to create a holiday Monogram. For this collection we used vintage inspired lettering surrounded by swirls and holiday motifs. The end result is a beautiful, elegant monogram. You can combine multiple letters for a saying or just use yours or your family s initials. Each of the letters comes in 3 different sizes, 6.75 x 9.5, 5.7 x 8 and 4.7 x 6.5. We created a beautiful pillow using Silk Dupioni as the base with corresponding fabrics and trims. You will love the Holiday Monogram designs for years to come. 4

5 Project Collections September Releases Christmas Gift Tags Projects Collection These Christmas Gift Tags are fast and easy In the Hoop Projects, which means no additional sewing! Each side is treated as a separate applique. The final stitches finish off all of your raw edges and then you ll use a fabric marker to customize your To: and From: message. With 15 designs to choose from, you are sure to find the perfect Gift Tag to top that extra special gift! Pocket Purses Projects Collection Pocket Purses are fast accessories that come in a variety of fun and funky design shapes. This project is done completely in the 5x7 hoop, which means no additional sewing for you. Once the machine stops, all you need to do is trim and turn right side out for a fast and easy project. This is a great design project to get your kids or grandkids involved; they will be asking to embroider every time they come to visit! 5

6 Fashion Embroidery Techniques Tips, Tricks & Ideas Here at Anita Goodesign we are always looking for the latest trends in the world of embroidery. We have noticed that embroidery on clothing is making a come back! So, that inspired us to give you some tips for embroidering on garments. We also have a product line titled Anita Goodesign Fashion Collections. Go to our website and take a look at all our beautiful fashion collections. These collections were designed with fashion clothing in mind and the designs were all tested on garments to guarantee perfect embroidery results. Here are some of our fashion rules and tips. 1. Start with a quality garment The better the garment, the better your end result will be. Cheap clothing generally doesn t have good sewing techniques to begin with and are made using cheaper grades of fabric which don t hold embroidery well. 2. Don t be afraid to use your seam ripper! A lot of the techniques we use will require you to open up seams and literally take your garment apart. You have an embroidery machine that costs thousand of dollars don t be afraid to rip apart a $50.00 pair of jeans. Besides, ripping apart is easy, its putting it back together that s tough! 3. Experiment! Creating your own custom garment will require experimenting with different fabrics and embellishing techniques. Don t be afraid to try something new. 7 Tips, Tricks & Ideas Choosing the proper stabilizer is important with fashion embroidery. Most of the fashion designs have less stitches than standard embroidery designs so you will not need to use cutaway or heat stabilizer. Below are our stabilizer choices for fashion embroidery. Working With Stabilizers Tearaway For most of the designs a medium weight tearaway will suffice. We prefer brands like Madeira s Cotton Soft because it tears away clean. Some of the embroidery placements will be too difficult for you to hoop, if this is the case, temporary spray adhesive works great with the tearaway stabilizer. Sticky Back Tearaway Sticky Back tearaway works great when you can t hoop the garment. There is one problem with this stabilizer, the glue can ruin some fabrics. If you are using sticky back or wet and stick stabilizers, always test it on a scrap of fabric. If you do not like the results use the spray adhesive method discussed above. Water Soluble Water soluble is a stabilizer we all have in our sewing rooms and it comes in handy as a topping for difficult fabrics like thermal and waffle weave. We use the thinnest available. The only thing to be careful of when using this stabilizer is to make sure the garment you use it on can get wet. Fibrous Water Soluble Fibrous water soluble works great for creating free standing embroidery designs and also as a backing for lightweight garments. If you are going to use this stabilizer as a backing make sure the fabric you are using it on can get wet. There are a few versions of his stabilizer on the market and they are all very similar. adeira s Avalon Plus, Floriani s Wet N Gone and Aqua magic all fall into this category. 7
