2 My BERNINA Classes Learn how to use your machine. These classes are open to any BERNINA sewing machine owner. Registration is necessary as class size is limited. The class instruction is FREE to new owners of machines purchased from us. However, you may take our My Bernina classes for a fee schedule according to the type of machine. You must bring your own machine to use for these classes. Cancellation Policy: 7 days prior to class you may choose a different day to take the class. Saturday, Mar 11, 9 am - noon TNT - Thread/Needle/Tension DID YOU KNOW..Most machine worries could be the thread you are using, the needle and if your machine is set to the proper tension. Let s investigate. THREAD - There are many brands on the market. A machine likes thread that is less linty. Can you guess why? It does not have to work as hard and it keeps the machine cleaner. It moves better through the tension disc. What kind of thread you ask? Quilters love 100% cotton thread. Remember that all 50 wt threads are not the same. Such as DMC, Masterpiece and Aurifil. The thicknesses are different and you can see it visually. DMC thread takes up less space because it s thinner and it is great if you are sewing a block with a million pieces. The others are wonderful too. Find your favorite. NEEDLE - All day long I feel an 80 Microtex, sharp or topstitch is your friend. Why? Sharp points are needed for piecing. Universal needles doesn t mean it goes in every machine, it s a ball point tip. IMPORTANT your automatic or manual needle threader will bend the wire in a smaller or larger needle. This 80 size is friendly to threaders. Change your needle like you change your underwear. It s not the fact that the needle is sharp it s also if the needle has had any torque on it making it go out of alignment. It needs to be exactly straight. TENSION For all sewers and quilters alike IF YOU CAN SEE THE BOBBIN THREAD ON THE TOP.LOWER THE TOP TENSION IF YOU CAN SEE THE TOP THREAD ON THE BOTTOM.MAKE THE TENSION A HIGHER NUMBER ON THE TOP.this is always hard to remember. Always make sure your bobbin is wound tidy, even and not on existing threads. The machine will thank you for that! Trudy Beyond the Surface Software 8 has some new puffy foam alphabets! Let s investigate embroidering 3D fonts and digitizing designs with puffy foam. Saturday, Apr 8, 9 am - noon Reaching Beyond the Limits Software 8 has new multi-hooping features. During this lesson, we will explore how this new feature works and how best to align designs that reach beyond the limits of your embroidery hoop.
