1 2019 SPRING WORKSHOPS AT LORNE HILL FARM All workshops are 35 for the day, including a light lunch, unless otherwise stated am to 4.00pm A minimum of three bookings are necessary for us to hold workshops, and in the case of cancellation we will give at least 72 hours notice. 2 Wednesday 30 th January Quilt Class with Lynne Johnson. Originally this was the Medallion Quilt class but as time has gone on, and Lynne has made more and more quilts, it has evolved into a class where you can select which one of her quilts you want to make! Whether it s the Di Ford Antique Wedding Sampler, or a Medallion Quilt, or the Baltimore, Lynne will guide you all the way. It will take up to a year to complete a quilt, and you will be expected to attend once a month, although we do have a break in August and December. This class is currently full, but do let us know if you d like to go on the waiting list. Medallion Quilt 1 Wednesday 6 th February Oven Gloves with Sandra Make a pair of pretty and practical oven gloves in the fabric of your choice: fully lined and padded with heat resistant wadding excellent practice for using your sewing machine, too.

3 Wednesday 13th February Quilt Class with Lynne Johnson Wednesday 20 th February Fingerless mittens with Ros learn how to knit these lovely Yosolda Teague fingerless mittens. This is not a class for beginners, but would be perfect for anyone who wants a go at random cables! Wednesday 27th February Quilt Class with Lynne Johnson Wednesday 6th March Complete Beginner s Patchwork A four part course aimed at complete beginners to run on the first Wednesday of every month from March to June. There is no need to invest in expensive fabric or equipment or to have any experience in quilt making we just hope to give you the best, and simplest, introduction to the world of patchwork! Each month a different patchwork technique will be covered, starting with hand piecing on the first day. In April we will cover hexagons, in May we ll move onto machine piecing and finally, in June, Japanese Folded Patches. The pieces can be viewed as practise pieces or repeated to make a whole quilt top.

4 Wednesday 13 th March Quilt Class with Lynne Johnson Baltimore Wednesday 20th March Curve of Pursuit Knitted blanket with Ros An excellent project for people who love knitting. The afghan is a small blanket in plain garter stitch which can be used for warmth or decorative purposes. The clever construction of Curve of Pursuit reveals the four curves which spiral out from the centre, representing four dogs chasing each other round a field.

5 Saturday 23 rd March Easy Foundation piecing with Helene - Foundation piecing is a technique that produces really neat, precise work. This small quilt is a fantastic introduction to a very easy, but sometimes daunting, technique which will mean no more missing points in your patchwork! Wednesday 27 th March Wednesday 3rd April Part 2 of the Complete Beginner s Patchwork Course This session we will be covering hexagons one of the most traditional patchwork techniques which is constantly revisited. Wednesday 10 th April Wednesday 17 th April Quilt Making with Lynne Johnson Please note that this workshop should be on the 24 th April, but Lynne will be at the Nantes Quilt show next week so we have swapped the date. Wednesday 24 th April Traditional Primitive Spring Penny Rug Hand-stitched, using woollen fabric and felt, - this will make a lovely mat which is held flat in the traditional way with old pennies that we have been given for precisely this use!

6 Wednesday 1st May Part 3 of the Complete Beginner s Patchwork Course and this session we move on to using your sewing machine to piece patchwork blocks. Wednesday 8 th May Wednesday 15 th May Portable Patchwork Board - This is a brilliant portable ironing board / cutting board / lay out design board, which also serves as a carrier for your work as you move from room to room or workshop to workshop! Lynne first showed us how to make them last year and so many people have admired them and said they want to make one, that we are running the class again! Wednesday 29 th May Wednesday 5 th June The Fourth and Final part of the the Complete Beginner s Patchwork Course and this time we will be concentrating on the versatile Japanese Patches. Wednesday 12th June

7 Wednesday 26 th June This is Lynne s Little Caswell Quilt, quilted by Frances Meredith of Fabadashery Long arm Quilting, Wednesday 3 rd July Rag Rug Day Crocheting a rag rug is an excellent way to use up fabric you no longer like, or fabric left over from other projects. However, it does take up an awful lot of fabric around 20 yards for a decent sized rug so you may need to be imaginative and use old sheets or duvet covers. By the end of the day your rug may only be the size of a large dinner plate, but this is something you can pick up and do whenever you have a bit of time on your hands!

8 Wednesday 10 th July Wednesday 17 th July Coin Purses These little purses are easy to make using both machine and hand-stitching. You should be able to make at least one in the day. I used muted colours but of course the fabric you use and how you embellish them is completely up to you. A selection of clasps is available for you to choose from. Wednesday 31st July So there you are and that takes us up to the Summer Break so I hope there s something there that appeals to you!
