1 Class & Event Schedule Summer West Fifth Street, Pinconning MI or Featherweight School House: This is the event everyone has been asking for. If you own a Singer Featherweight sewing machine and would like to learn a little more this is the event for you. During the School House you will bring your machine and any attachments that you own. We will go over the following: Oil and greasing, belt replacement, needle replacement, bobbin adjustment and tension, quilting with the Big Foot, original attachments and how to use them and when, extra attachments (zig zagger and button holes). Bring the following with you: machine, oil, grease, spool of good quality colored thread, new needle, and any attachments that you own. We will provide fabric, quilting sandwiches, trims, and snacks. We will have supplies available for purchase that day if you need anything. The School House will be taught by Tina, Monte, and Carol. There is limited space in each class of 12 so schedule early if possible. Dates: Thur., Sept. 14th or 28th, from11-4 Fee: $25 Row by Row on the Go, 2017: It s finally here, June 21st- September 5th. Our kits are $13.99 and a complete kit with borders, binding and backing is $ We are also a 9th Row shop, donation for the pattern. Summer 2017 will be alive with learning when kids hit the road to participate in Row by Row Experience s brand new program, Row by Row Junior. It s designed for kids ages 6 to 14. They travel along with an adult, collect free row patterns designed just for them to make, and learn to sew with family help and support. We are a participating Row by Row Junior shop and will offer the choice of two different patterns and kits for children. Spelling Bee & Farm Girl Vintage by Lori Holt: During the past year we have been working on Farm Girl Vintage once a month. We are adding to this group during the month of August. You ll have the opportunity to choose either Farm Girl Vintage or a project from her new book Spelling Bee (arrives the end of July). This class is offered during the day from 10:30-12:30 and in the evening from 6:00-8:00p.m. Each month we work on 2 or 3 blocks, during the winter months we will do 4. This is a Friendship class and many times we share fabrics. Choose either book and meet a few new friends. During the August class if you are new we will go over the book and the fabrics and notions you will need. 2 Our annual event will run from July 17th through July 22nd. All our Christmas fabric will be on sale during the event at 20% off. Each day we will offer a free class or demos, each one focusing around gift giving or decorating for your home. You ll need to register for any classes, each class has a limit of 16. Times will be given for demos and registration will not be necessary. All supplies will be available at the shop for each demo or class given. Monday: Demo-Event Chalk Banner 10:30, 1:30, and 3:30. This banner can be used for holidays, birthday parties, weddings, any special event. Use it over and over again! Tuesday:Demo Periwinkle Table Runner 10:30, 1:30, and 3:30. Easy to make and a great gift! Wednesday: Class Stitching Pillow 11:00-12:30. Bring your machine, two coordinating fat quarters, thread, rotary cutter, and one bag of Perfect Loft. This pillow is great for anyone who does hand stitching, embroidery, and wool applique. It brings your head up, putting less strain on your neck. It also makes a great travel pillow! Thursday: Class-Greased Lightning Runner 11:00-3:00.Supplies: 4 strips of 3 coordinating Christmas fabrics that are 2 1/2 by WOF, 1/2 yd. light background fabric, 3/8 yd. darker fabric that coordinates with the 2 1/2 strips. You ll also need 1 yard for backing and 1/4 yard for binding to finish after class. Bring all sewing supplies. Friday: Class-Child s Chalk Placemat 11:00-2:00. Supplies: 1/2 yard chalk cloth, one mini charm pack, and 1/2 yard backing fabric. This placemat is great for the dinner table or take to the restaurant to keep your child occupied. Easy and fun to make. Luxie Lunch Bag: Carry your lunch, make-up, overnight items, or entire contents of your handbag in luxury. This is a versatile project that features a wire frame that helps hold the top open wide for easy access. Supplies needed: 1/2 yard of each, exterior fabric, accent fabric, Diaper Cloth (water proof) for lining, and Insul-Bright. 3/4 yard of Shapeflex, 1/3 yard Soft & Stable, 1 1/4 yard piping, 22 zipper, Style B metal frame, and pattern. Bring your machine, thread, and zipper. There will be a list of things to prepare before class available at the shop. All supplies are available at the shop as well. Date: Wednesday, August 2nd Time: 10:30-3:30 Fee: $15 Instructor: Sharon Hippie Zips: Get ready for some far out fun! These little bags are simple to make and fun to use. During class we will make the camper bag, so bring scrap fabric for camper, flower and door, 1/8 yard fusible fleece and 1/8 yard Shape Flex, 22 zipper, 3/4 swivel hook, and thread to match. Bring your sewing supplies and machine. Date: Thursday, August 3rd Time: 10:30-1:30 Fee: $20 (includes pattern)

3 Singer Featherweight Clinic During this clinic we discuss history, maintenance, features of the machine, free motion quilting, and attachments. Please do not bring your machine with you on this day, we use our machines for demos. There will be machines, supplies, and attachments available for purchase on this day. Bring a note pad with you and any questions you would like to ask. Fee: $5.00 Dates: Tuesday, July 18th from 6-8pm or Saturday, Aug. 5th from 11-1pm Featherweight Repair: Monte is our Featherweight repair man. He will only work on Singer 221, 222, or 301. Basic service is $65. If you have any questions about his service please give us a call. Machines are dropped off and picked up in the shop only. Open Sew: We have added a few Saturdays! Bring your unfinished projects, or begin a new one. The retreat area is open for you and a few friends. Use our cutting mats, irons & boards, bring a lunch and enjoy the day. Reservations are required due to a limit of 12, no fee. Dates: Thursday, July 13th 10-4, Saturday, August 12th 10-2, Thursday, August 17th 10-4, Fri., Sept. 15th 10-4 and Sat., Sept. 23rd Summer Retreat at Bittersweet Vintage Retreat: This is our first summer retreat at our retreat house. Come by yourself or meet other women who share the same passion of quilting. There is a limit of 10 for this event. We will begin on Tuesday morning at 10:00 and serve lunch and dinner that day. Wednesday will begin with breakfast and then a short walk along our beautiful shoreline trail (for those who would like to participate). Lunch and dinner are included on Wednesday. We will sew until 6:00 on Thursday and end our retreat with dinner. This will be a small and relaxing retreat for those who would like to get away for a few days. Dates: August 8th-10th,2017 Coordinator: Tina Fee: $160 ($60 non-refundable deposit) Bittersweet Vintage Retreat: We still have plenty of dates for summer and fall 2017 retreats! We are running a Summer Special of $35 a night for new bookings through August, call for availability. If you would like to put a group of friends together, of at least six and no more than 10, we have room for you. Regular rates are $45 a night. Wool Workers: This group runs every six months. We gather and work on wool applique, and special stitches. Bring any project that you have started or want to begin. During this six month session we will make two surprise pincushions. This is a relaxing time to get to know each other and finish projects. 4 Border Creek Station Mystery Quilt : This class is a continuation of our group who began last fall. Dates: Our reveal luncheon will be June 11:00, bring a dish to pass. The 2018 Mystery quilt will be discussed and available for sign-up. More information about the 2018 Border Creek Station Mystery Quilt will be in our next class schedule. However, if you think you would like to participate in next years event call for more information and to signup, space is always limited in this group. Children s Sewing Class: This class will be for children ages Sharon will teach each child how to use a sewing machine in week one. Have your child or grandchild bring the machine they will be using at home. If they do not have a machine to bring let us know when you register. We do have a few basic machines that students can use if necessary. However, it is best to learn on the machine you will use at home. In week two they will make a simple pillow, and in week three they will choose between two projects. Supplies needed for week one: machine, thread, and scissors. A supplies list for week two and three will be given in week one. We ask that adults not stay for class. Our instructor, Sharon, is a retired school teacher and excellent sewer. Dates: Sept.,12th, & 26th and October 10th Time: 3:30-5:30 Fee: $30 Squffet: This is the square version of the Tuffet, 18, height varies. Done in a Day! Fast and easy with the Creative Grids 22.5-degree Triangle Ruler. You ll receive the supply list when you register. This Squffet makes a great gift or an additional piece of furniture for your living room. Date: Thursday, Sept. 7th from 10-4 Fee: $25 Instructor: Sharon Sunflower Topper: Decorate your home with this delightful little table topper. Bring your sewing supplies and the following project supplies: 1/4 yard of each of the following Gold #1, Gold #2, Green, and Dark Gold. 3/8 yard of scrap golds, yellows, oranges, blacks and browns. One package of In -R-Form single sided fusible, 1/2 yard Heat n Bond Lite, contrasting thread, Microtex needle, marking pen, zipper foot (optional), and wonder clips. Fee includes pattern. Date: Thur. Aug., 24th from 10:30-3:30 Fee: $24 Instructor: Sharon Dahlia Delight: 52in x 52in. When is a Dahlia not a Dahlia? When it is dresdens! Fast construction with no curved piecing using the Creative Grids 22.5-degree Triangle Ruler. Pick up your pattern for fabric requirements. Supplies to bring: sewing machine, coordinating thread, fabric according to pattern, 24 ruler, and 22.5 degree triangle ruler, and rotary cutter. Date: Tuesday, August 22nd from 10:30-3:30 Fee: $15 Instructor: Sharon

5 Blooming Dresden Block- Dresdens abound in this delightful twist on the traditional block, using the new 18 degree Dresden Plate ruler. In class we will make one block. However, the pattern will give directions for a wall hanging through king size. This pattern arrives in July and we will give fabric requirements at that time. Bring your machine, basic sewing supplies, rotary cutter, ruler for cutting strips, and Dresden ruler. There are also other patterns for this unique and easy ruler. The fee includes pattern. Date: Wed. Sept. 13th from 10:30-2:30 Fee: $28 Instructor: Sharon Triangle Frenzy Hexagon Table Topper: Cut some triangles, spin them around, rearrange them, sew them together, large or small. So may variations. It's a Triangle Frenzy. You ll be using 1 1/2 yards of border fabric, and the 60 degree Creative Grids Ruler. Make a Fall or Winter table topper that measures about Bring the following: 1 1/2 yard border fabric, ruler, machine, thread, rotary cutter, basic sewing supplies. Date: Monday, August 14th from 10:30-3:30 Fee: $15 Instructor: Sharon Make and Take Mystery Halloween Wool Project: This project will be a fun item to decorate your home with for the Halloween season. The class includes the wool kit and stabilizer to complete the project. Supplies to bring: scissors for cutting wool & paper, stitching thread, needle threader, and needles. Please have some experience with wool applique. Great thing about the event, you ll leave with a finished project. Don t forget to bring a lunch! Date: Wednesday, August 30th from 10:30-3:30 Fee: $40 Instructor: Tina Grandpa s Pumpkin Farm: On my grandfather s farm in West Branch there were pumpkins growing and being picked each fall. I fell in love with this quilt and knew I needed it for my wall. This will be a two session class, the first date we will begin the construction of the quilt. During the second class we will add the wool truck applique. We are putting kits together for this quilt and they will be available to purchase for the class by the end of July. The quilt measures 28 x 37. In session #1 bring: machine, rotary cutter, ruler, and basic sewing supplies. In session #2 bring: scissors for wool & paper, thread for applique, and 1/2 yard Steam-A-Seam 2 Lite. Don t forget your lunch! Dates: Session #1 Wed. Aug., 23rd from 10:30-3:30 Fee: $25 Session #2 Wed. Sept., 6th from 10:30-2:30 Class Information Instructor: Tina Please bring basic sewing supplies to class. We have available in the classroom cutting mats, irons, and ironing boards. Feel free to bring snacks or a lunch, we do have a microwave and refrigerator available. Class fees are due at the time of registration, and there are limits to each class size. If we need to cancel a class due to weather or sickness we will refund your fees. If you need to cancel we will apply your fee towards another class taken within three months. If you need help bringing in your machine please let us know upon your arrival and we would be happy to help you with it.

6 4th Annual Bi ersweet at the Springs Grab a few friends or make a few new ones, this years retreat is going to be great. No cooking, no cleaning, and best of all, sew all day long. Our retreat is located at The Springs, 1950 N. M-30, Gladwin MI It begins on Friday, October 20th at 2:00 and ends on Sunday, at 3:00. Cost of the retreat is $160, a $60 (non-refundable) deposit is required to register. Final payment must be made by October 1st. Call to register at and pay with a credit card, or send in a check within a week of registering. Our mailing address is: 624 West 5th street, Pinconning MI Remember, this retreat sells out every year so don t wait too long. Retreat fee includes: Dinner on Friday, breakfast, lunch and dinner on Saturday, breakfast and lunch on Sunday. There has been a change to breakfast this year, it will be a smaller con nental breakfast and available between certain mes. Times will be announced at retreat. If you have any special dietary needs please let us know at me of registra on. We have two types of rooms available: Hotel rooms have either 2 full size beds or 2 full with 1 twin, and a private bathroom. Dorm rooms have 4 twins and a large bathroom that has three private showers and bathroom stalls, and a large vanity. We will be using all rooms at this retreat due to the number of a endees. We will also be using the upstairs chapel room and downstairs conference room. The chapel will be used for a large group who will be a ending. We will vendor during the retreat and also host a few demonstra ons. Each sewing table comes with a chair, but you can bring your own if you would like, or a cushion. Ironing boards, irons, and cu ng mats are provided. Linens are included in the rooms. Please bring one item for the feed pile (chips, candy, fruit, vegetables, etc.) to share with everyone. There is a refrigerator located near the feed le if needed. We will host a garage sale again this year and proceeds will benefit a female pa ent. During the garage sale you can bring kits, fabric, no ons, rulers, any item related to sewing that you would like to donate. Items are then sold and price paid is decided by the person making the purchase. The garage sale opens on Friday night at 9:00. Give us a call if you have any further ques ons. Mr. Owl: This new wool pa ern from Bu ermilk Basin will be a great addi on to your Halloween decora ng. Supplies needed for class: Scissors for cu ng wool and paper, chenille needles, any threads you have, and parking pencil. We will provide the wool kit, Steam-A- Seam 2 Lite, thread for project, and pa ern. Date: Wednesday, Sept. 20th from 10:30-2:30 Fee: $30 Instructor: Tina Wanna Build a Snowman Ornament: Build this adorable snowman using wool scraps. Hang it from the tree or door knob.
