Actually, let s hope we have a March meeting, you never know with this weather! Thank you all for your reports, much appreciated... Jan Chapman Editor President s Message A Quick Note From The President Several members have been busy bees as they continue to work on the 2020 opportunity quilt. Lys Axelson has provided them with great directions and many members have already finished their sections. Love that we are ahead of schedule. I m looking forward to seeing Jackie Holmes as our guest speaker at our March meeting. For our newer members Jackie is one of our founding members and is a beautiful quilter. You won t want to miss her quilting journey as well as her beautiful quilts she will be showing us. With our spring right around the corner and bulbs sprouting up, I will be surprised if we have to cancel the meeting due to snow. 5 Membership We have 52 paid members. We will have the 2019 directory and the opportunity tickets ready for pick up at the next Quilt Guild meeting on March 18. We will all hope for good weather! Her surgery is March 18, same say as our guild meeing. Please pray for excellent results and an easy recovery. This is serious surgery so please hold her in prayer. Also, Lillian Hart fell, and luckily no broken bones, but needs our best wishes and prayers for a complete recovery. 6 2019 Mountain Treasures XXXI Quilt Show OUR NEXT QUILT SHOW MEETING WILL BE APRIL 26th Our March 1st Quilt Show meeting went smoothly. We covered all the basic aspects of the show and everything is falling into place at this time. Our focus for our next meeting will be the Award Ribbons. We intend to keep all our present categories, but want to add more. There will be a list of possible ribbon awards for your review at the March guild meeting and we are looking for ideas for new ribbons. We want your input as well. The next qluilt show meeting will be on Friday, April 26th at 10:30 AM. We meet at Bear Country Quilts and Gifts. If you are unable to attend, but have some ideas, please contact Belinda Evans or Jeannie Mazzacane and share your thoughts with us. Thanks! Jeannie Mazzacane Quilt Show Chair Program and Workshop Updates Hello All, So sorry we did not get to meet this past Monday, but yeah for the lake! Since we did not meet and I was unable to let you know about upcoming programs, thought I would just send this out, so you had the info. The Hand Quilting workshop in March will be taught by Susan Boylin. There will be a sign-up sheet and list of what is needed for the class at the meeting. At the January meeting, 11 of you shared that you would like to learn more about hand quilting. Well, this is the time and I hope I see you at the workshop in March. You can sign up the night before or send me an that you want to go to the workshops. It would help Susan to have an idea of how many are coming, so she can have things prepared. You will need to bring: Embroidery hoops(8" or larger). Bring a variety if you have them. Thimble to fit your finger Scissors Bees wax if you have it. Using it is optional. Attached is a picture of the sample for the workshop project for April. Pam Hadfield will teach Beginning/Intermediate Piecing and Applique with charm squares. 7 Philanthropy Food Pantry This Photo Photo March is St. Patrick s Day and Winter Weather We are supplying our Pantry with Soups and Stews. Since we did not have our February meeting, please bring in your Tuna or Chicken Helpers. We are so blessed to have a giving guild. Comfort Quilts We have kits prepared to disburse to guild members for quilts for Doves and for the Mom and Dad Projects. Although we were not able to have our jelly roll race last month, I have heard from members who have been busy sewing on comfort quilts and baby quilts. We will look forward to Show and Tell and see your finished projects.
