Developing your personal style Lesson: Introduction to Project I, The Gallery (bubble diagram techniques, sketching techniques, plan development techniques, foam core construction basics) Homework 1: Purchase all drawing supplies (see materials list) Draw 40 x 40 square grid, with intervals on 24 x 36 velum (4 or 5 ) Draw 5 bubble diagrams, freehand overlaying the grid, and describing: Entry, Circulation, Gathering Space, and Special Exhibition Space Refine one schematic floor plan on sketch (tracing) paper at 1/4" = 1-0

Sept. 27 INTRODUCTION TO SCHEMATIC PLAN DESIGN & LAYOUT Critique: Grid on vellum, Bubble Diagrams, Schematic Floor Plan, Study Model (basic line weights, floor plans layout, circulation, form and function, scale vs. proportion, structure, rhythm, repetition, space, form, order ) Lesson: Developing the Plan (refining the concept, understanding basic construction elements, layout methods, line weight techniques, value, tone, texture, materials) Homework 2: 1. Layout 24 x 36 vellum sheet 2. Develop 1/4 schematic floor plan and redraw on velum 3. Develop Study Model (walls, doors, platforms etc ) 3. Oct. 4 INTRODUCTION TO SECTIONS & ELEVATIONS Critique: Floor Plan, Model Lesson: Orthographic projections (generating a section cut) Sections vs. Elevations, Line weights, Profile Lines, Layout, Title blocks, lettering, Scaled figures, furniture, rendering techniques ) Homework 3: 1. Schematic Design for 1 st and 2 nd floor plans 1/4 = 1-0 scale (designed as real project) 2. Note and Dimension Floor Plans 3. Refine Project I drawings based on critique 7. Nov. 1 ADVANCED SECTION/ELEVATIONS Critique: 1 ST and 2 ND Floor Plans Lesson: Section/Elevations (Section/Elevation techniques, stair design, composition) Homework 7: 1. Nov. 8 RFC (REFLECTED CEILING PLAN) & SCHEDULES Critique: Section/Elevations Lesson: RCP (Reflected Ceiling Plan) & Schedules (introduction to lighting/electrical elements, Material Sourcing, Lighting, Door,Window and Finish schedule development, reflected ceiling plan development/techniques) Homework 8: 1. Develop RFC (Reflected Ceiling Plan for 1 st and 2 nd Floor) 2. Develop Schedules (lighting, door, window and finish) 3. Refine section/elevations based on critique 9.
