1 Montclair, NJ ADDENDUM NO. 2 Issue Date: June 18, 2010 Request for Proposal # 898 Finley Hall Renovation Number of Pages: 14 (plus attachment) Date of Original Bidding Documents: April 28, 2010 INTENT: This Addendum forms a part of the Contract Documents and modifies the Original Bidding Documents and Prior Addenda, if any, as identified above. Acknowledge receipt of this Addendum in the space provided on the Bid Form. Failure to do so may subject Bidder to disqualification. I. Points of Information: The following questions were submitted by potential bidders: 1. Question: After reviewing Addendum #1, I see that it contained Sketch SKA-014 which shows a motorized shade at the head of the second floor windows by Draper see specs. First, there are no specs on the motorized shades. This is probably because Dwgs. A904 and A905 indicate an Item K which are motorized shades by others. As such, unless informed otherwise by addendum or clarification, we assume that all shades, including those in the addendum sketch, are by the owner and the shade information indicated in the addendum is for informational purposes only. Response: Motorized shades will be provided, installed, and wired by others. G.C. is to provide power wiring, junction boxes for power, and switch boxes and conduit with pull string as shown on electrical drawings. 2. Question: Drawing E-101, column lines 5-L-M shows an occupancy sensor without a subscript A, B, C, and D. Please confirm and advise if this type D occupancy sensor? Response: Type D 3. Question: Drawing E-101, to the left of column line 4-A shows 3 fixtures without a fixture type. Please confirm and advise the correct fixture types for these fixtures? 2 4. Question: Drawing E-102 shows many occupancy sensors without a subscript A, B, C, or D. Please confirm and advise if all of these occupancy sensors without subscripts to be counted as type D? Response: Type D 5. Question: Drawing E-102, Janitor s Closet #232 shows a fixture without a fixture type associated with it. Please confirm and advise if this is fixture type F? Response: It shall be Fixture Type F 6. Question: Drawing E-103, Conference Room #318 shows a fixture without a fixture type associated with it. Please confirm and advise if this is fixture type Q? Response: It shall be Fixture Type Q 7. Question: Fixture schedule on drawing E-403 lists fixture type C but we did not find any fixtures of this type on the Electrical Lighting floor plans. Please confirm and advise where is this fixture type C shown on the E-series drawings? Response: This Fixture has been removed from use on this project at this time. 8. Question: Fixture schedule on drawing E-403 lists fixture type D but we did not find any fixtures of this type on the Electrical Lighting floor plans. Please confirm and advise where is this fixture type C shown on the E-series drawings? Response: This Fixture has been removed from use on this project at this time. 9. Question: Fixture schedule on drawing E-403 lists fixture type G but we did not find any fixtures of this type on the Electrical Lighting floor plans. Please confirm and advise where is this fixture type C shown on the E-series drawings? Response: This Fixture has been removed from use on this project at this time 10. Question: Panel schedule for Relay Panel LC1 is shown on two drawings, E-101 & E-402. Please confirm and advise which panel schedule is to be used? Response: Use the one on E-402, the one on E-101 will be removed 11. Question: Drawing E-201B shows a symbol RS in a square but this symbol is not defined on the symbol list on drawing E-001. Please confirm and advise what does this symbol represent in terms of Electrical Contractor s scope of work? Response: RS = an electronic sign display. See additional information in Section VIII below. 12. Question: Drawing E-201B shows a symbol C in a circle but this symbol is not defined on the symbol list on drawing E-001. 3 Response: C = camera 13. Question: Drawing E-201B shows a symbol MM in a square but this symbol is not defined on the symbol list on drawing E-001. Please confirm and advise if this symbol represents a monitor module as part of the Fire Alarm system? Response: MM = Monitor Module for Fire alarm system 14. Question: Drawing E-202B shows a symbol D in a square but this symbol is not defined on the symbol list on drawing E-001. Please confirm and advise what does this symbol represent in terms of Electrical Contractor s scope of work? Response: D = door hold open for fire egress 15. Question: Drawing E-202B indicates that key note #17 is Not Used however it is being referenced on this drawing along column lines G-2. Please confirm and advise what this key note #17 entails. Response: This Key note is deleted. 16. Question: Drawing E-203B does not define any key notes but key notes such as #23 are being referenced on this drawing. Please provide all the key notes that are missing from this drawing. Response: Key notes from E-203A are applicable to E-203B 17. Question: Please confirm and advise if the Emergency fixtures require Emergency Ballasts? Currently, it is unclear because a reference to the Emergency Ballasts is made in notes that are provided as part of the Fixture Schedule on drawing E-403 but the symbol list on drawing E-001 indicates that emergency ballasts are not required if the emergency fixtures are fed from a panel backed-up by a Generator which is the case for this project. Response: All emergency lighting fed from EM panel will not require Ballasts 18. Question: Please provide manufacturer and catalogue information for the Battery operated Emergency Lighting. Response: See Lighting Schedule 19. Question: Specifications section calls for a Lightning Protection System. Please provide drawing for this system. Response: Lighting Protection System shall be provided based on the spec section 20. Question: Drawing PD-01 1 st floor key note #1 states all existing piping to be removed and replaces in kind. Drawing P-101 key note #6 states connect to new mains in corridor. Finley Hall Renovation Page 3 of 14

4 Nowhere on any of the plumbing drawings does it reference and/or show any pipe sizes for the existing mains to be replaced in kind. Please advise. Response: It is the contractors responsibility to field verify the existing pipe sizes and locations and replace in kind. 21. Question: Specifications clearly want the contractors to recycle material created by our work. Has the owner tested the masonry material (i.e. brick; blocks; concrete etc.) in accordance with the DEP requirements for recycling of masonry material? Response: No testing as been performed. General Contractor is responsible for compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements per Specification Section 01690, paragraph 1.5.A. 22. Question: Asbestos abatement and hazardous materials removal is by others. a. When will the owner s contractor clean-up its material (i.e. desks, chairs, and tables on the second floor, personal air conditioners, drums, scrap wood etc. outside the buildings) Response: G.C. shall remove and dispose of all items, furniture, materials, etc. in the building and within the fenced in staging area. b. Please provide asbestos abatement report. Response: An Abatement report will be provided to the contractor after award. c. Timing of abatement contractor s removals we need the materials removed prior to our start of work. The curtain walls are on both sides of the 72-0 wide building and our personnel cannot work within 25-0 of the abatement removals unless others put up containment. The containment and abatement work will inhibit our work and removal operations. Response: Abatement operations need to be coordinated with the successful G.C. and are not expected to be concluded before the award of a contract. MSU will coordinate schedule with the G.C. upon award. d. Will the abatement contractor put up the OSHA cable on the second and third floors for fall protection as it removes the curtain walls? Response: No. General Contractor shall be responsible for installing all required OSHA protection. e. The abatement contractor has left glue pucks on the underside of the 1 st and 2 nd floor slabs. The glue pucks usually contain asbestos. Have the glue pucks been tested and who is responsible for the removals? Response: Glue does not contain asbestos. Glue pucks may remain in areas where they will be covered by new ceilings. Any removal necessary shall be done by G.C. f. There is a hidden spline ceiling the third floor stairwell. Does the ceiling hide more asbestos containing materials and who is responsible for its removal was the abatement contractor originally responsible for the ceiling removal? Response: The spline ceiling does not contain asbestos and removal is to be performed by G.C. Finley Hall Renovation Page 4 of 14

5 g. Somebody has stored trash and demolished material in the third floor space. Who is responsible for the removal? Response: G.C. shall remove and dispose of all items, materials, etc. in the building. 23. Question: On the second floor there is a large area of buckled plywood flooring with a layer of flooring beneath it. The large flooring area is not noted on the demolition drawings for removal. Is the area being removed under the abatement contract or the demolition contract? Response: Flooring does not contain asbestos. Contractor to remove plywood and flooring beneath. 24. Question: Note 4 on drawings A003 notes the removal of the raised slab from the former greenhouse area. The raised slab continues into the existing third floor area what is the limit of the removal? Response: Per Drawing A003, Third Floor Demolition Plan, raised floor area of the entire 3 rd floor area (hatched area) is to be removed per keynote # Question: Who will provide air monitoring (i.e. LEL; etc)? Response: Owner s consultants and contractors will perform all air monitoring required for abatement work. 26. Question: Note 12 calls for the removal of the two (2) precast stairwells including risers, handrails, railings, intermediate landings and structural supports. Is there a detail showing the construction of the area where the reinforced the concrete supports are being disconnected from the remaining reinforced concrete platforms? Response: See Structural Drawing S103, details 5 and 6 for additional information. 27. Question: Drawings E201B and E202B show a key note #14 for cutting and patching of the floor. This key note #14 is not referenced anywhere on these two aforementioned drawings. Please confirm and advise if this key not #14 shall be deleted. Response: Key note #14 shall be E.C. shall provide whips for desk as shown. 28. Question: Question: With reference to the projection screens plans are unclear as to which rooms are to be Faculty Training. Please clarify. Response: Question is not clear. Recessed electrically roll down screens are to be installed in classrooms and conference rooms as shown on plans. 29. Question: The single line Drawing E301 calls for the panel CDP to be located on the second floor. The panel schedule for CDP on Drawing E401 calls for its location to be in room 101 which is on the first floor. The panel CDP is being referenced (via key note #3) in the basement on drawing E204A. Please confirm and advise which location is correct for this panel CDP? Please note we believe the correct location shall be as shown on drawing E203A. 6 30. Question: The single line drawing E301 calls for the new generator to be located in the Mechanical Mezzanine. The floor plan drawing E203A shows the Generator to be located on the Roof. Please confirm and advise which location is correct for this Generator? Please note we believe the correct location shall be as shown on drawing E203A. Response: Generator shall be on the Roof 31. Question: Please confirm and advise if the new Generator requires a WP Enclosure? Response: As shown on drawing E302A. New Emergency Generator in Weatherproof Enclosure 32. Question: The single line Drawing E301 calls for the ATS to be located in the second floor Network room. The floor plan drawing E-202A does not show this ATS in the second floor Network room. Please confirm and advise the correct location for this ATS. Please note we believe the correct location shall be as called for on the single line drawing E-301 in the second floor Network room #229 on drawing E202A. Response: ATS shall be located in the Basement 33. Question: The single line Drawing E301 calls for the panel EM to be located in the second floor Network room #229. The panel schedule for EM on drawing E-402 calls for its location to be in the Basement. The panel EM is not shown on either one of the two floor plans, E-202A for the second floor or E-203A for the Basement. Please confirm and advise which location is correct for this panel EM? Please note we believe the correct location shall be as called for on the single line drawing E-301 in the second floor Network room #229 on drawing E202A. Response: Panel EM shall be located in the second floor network room 34. Question: The single line Drawing E301 and the panel schedule on drawing E-401 both call for the panel P2 to be located in the second floor Electric Closet #219. The floor plan drawing E-202A for the second floor does not show this panel anywhere. Please confirm and advise of the correct location for this panel P2? Please note we believe the key note #11 on drawing E-202A should be changed to reference to panel P2. Response: P2 shall be located in Closet # Question: The single line Drawing E301 and the panel schedule on drawing E-401 both call for the panel R1B to be located in the First floor Electrical Closet #121. The floor plan drawing E-201A for the First floor foes not show this panel anywhere. Please confirm and advise of the correct location for this panel R1B? Please note we believe this panel R1B shall be located next to panel R1 in the Electric Closet #121. Response: R1B shall be located in Closet # Question: The single line drawing E301 calls for the panel R1B to be fed from panel R1. The panel schedule on drawing E-401 calls for the panel R1B to be fed from MDP. Please confirm and advise which feeder is correct? Please note we believe the single line drawing E-301 is correct. 7 37. Question: What is the seismic design category for this project? Response: As per IBC 2006 New Jersey Edition, we need to follow Uniform Construction Code for the alteration and addition of the existing building. The seismic design criteria are not applicable for the existing building. 38. Question: The existing trees are very close to the building. Who is responsible for trimming the trees to allow adequate space for construction? Response: The University will be responsible for trimming of trees. The extent of trimming required will be determined upon award of contract and coordination with contractor. II. Special Notice of Bid Extension: NA III. Changes to Prior Addenda: NA IV. Regarding Specification Section Metal Stairs, ADD paragraph2.8.a.6 reading Where stringers abut side walls, install continuous steel closure plate to cover gap. Weld plate to top of stringer, scribe tight to wall. Finish to match stringer. B. Regarding Specification Section Finish Hardware, REVISE the paragraph C.6 to read as follows: 6. Provide network switch(es) and Cat5 network cable as required to connect to Owner s existing PERSONA system. All switches shall be Cisco 3750E to match Owner standard. C. Regarding Specification Section Projection Screens, DELETE paragraph 2.2.A and 2.2.B.1. REVISE paragraph 2.2.C.1.a to read Da-Lite Screen Co., Inc., Tensioned Advantage Electrol. REVISE paragraph 2.2.D.2 to add the following sentence Screen fabric shall be tab-tensioned.. REVISE paragraph 2.2.D.4 to read Drop: Provide 12 extra black masking drop at top of viewing area.. REVISE paragraph 2.2.D. 5.a to read Screen shall have viewing area with an aspect ratio of 16:10 and a viewing area 60 by 96 inches. DELETE paragraph 2.2.D.5.b. Finley Hall Renovation Page 7 of 14

8 D. Regarding Specification Section Rooftop Air Conditioners, paragraph 2.2.B, ADD paragraph 2.2.B.5 Annexair. VIII. Changes to Drawings: A. For all cold formed metal framing for exterior non-load bearing walls and roof rafter framing, General Contractor is responsible for the structural design and installation and shall provide shop drawings and structural calculations signed and sealed by a licensed NJ engineer. Design and installation shall be in accordance with the performance criteria and loads as shown in Specification Section and the Structural Drawings. B. General Contractor shall provide blocking at all locations where wall mounted equipment is shown (flat screens, marker boards, toilet accessories, etc) whether or not the equipment is provided or installed by the G.C. C. Regarding Drawing A-104 Roof Plan, Provide and install (2) layers 1/2" fire rated moisture resistant gypsum board on each side of roof truss at column locations "D" & 'L" at both sides of building (total of 4 locations) to provide draftstopping between the rated roof assembly and non-rated roof assembly. Refer to firestopping details for sealing of any mechanical penetrations. typ. D. At doors # 1VES1G, # 1VES3A, #1VES3C and #1VES2B, G.C. to provide and install ADA door operator with push button by LCN model # 4600 Electric AutoEqualizer with hardwired wall mounted actuators in stainless steel finish with engraved ADA symbol in a 6" diameter mount. Push button actuator to be integrated with card readers at door locations. G.C. to provide a fully functional door including all conduits, power and control wiring, electric strikes, etc. E. Regarding Drawing A101 First Floor Plan, wall section tag on stair 1STR2 reading 4/A601.3 SIM is Changed to read 3/A601.3 SIM F. Regarding Drawing A102 First Floor Plan, wall section tag on stair 1STR2 reading 4/A601.3 SIM is Changed to read 3/A601.3 SIM. Wall section tag on exterior wall of room #242 reading 4/A601.3 is Changed to read 3/A601.3 G. Regarding Drawing A301.2, Section 2, at the footing on Column line 1 & 6, fill space between new and existing foundation walls with ¾ crushed stone. H. Regarding Drawings A401 and A402, soffits in new Elevator Lobby 1VES1 and 2COR2 shall be tagged with Detail Tag 5/A403. I. Regarding Drawing A503, Section 1, Change note reading Layers 5/8 fire rated gypsum board over 2-5/8... to read Two (2) layers 5/8 fire rated gypsum board J. Regarding Drawing A601.1, Wall Section 4 shall be constructed in accordance with UL Design U418. K. Regarding Drawing A601.2, Detail 6, interior window sill shall be solid surfacing material. L. Regarding Drawings A904 and A904.1, Key Tag D Overhead Projector - Overhead Projector will be provided and installed by others. GC to provide and install projector mount consisting of 8 square mounting plate #CMA110, adjustable pipe #CMS012018, and electrical enclosure #CMA160 by Chief Manufacturing. Provide 12 guage solid steel mounting channels P1000 by Unistrut as required. Provide power and data as shown on Electrical Drawings. Typical for all Overhead Projector Locations. O. Regarding Drawing E001, Electrical General Notes, DELETE Note #3. P. Regarding Electrical Drawings, New electrical circuits 20A, 1P, 120V shall be provided with 2#12AWG+1#12GND conductors in 3/4in Conduit. Q. Regarding Electrical Drawings, IT and Power Through-Slab Poke-Throughs shall be RC-4 Multi- Service Device by Wiremold, Inc. or approved equal. R. Regarding Electrical Drawings, Audio-Visual Through-Slab Poke-throughs shall be 2 RC9AM2TC Single Service Device by Wiremold, Inc. or approved equal. S. Regarding Drawing E101, see the following modifications or clarifications: 1) Lighting fixtures type N circuit is changed to EM-11. They are located at West and South 1 st Floor entrances. 2) Lighting fixtures located on the stairs 1STR1 and 1STR2 are to be connected to emergency power circuit EM- 11 and EM-13. 3) Rooms: 101, 105, 119, 125, 135,104, 110, 122, 132 Lighting controls are changed as follows: each room is to have 2 light zones: one zone for the front light fixtures located in the proximity of the projector screen and one zone for remaining light fixtures. The two zones will be controlled by the light switches already shown on the drawings. 4) Booth 101A, 101B, 119A, 119B, 119C, 119D Add one lighting switch and one junction box for booth light control for each booth. Booth light fixture to be furnished by the booth s supplier. 5) Room 104, 119, 122 Light switches to be Dimming Switches. 6) Room 108 Light fixture circuit is changed to normal power L ) Room 119 Add the circuit number supplying the light fixtures: L1-15 and L ) Room 125- Add one (1) wall mounted emergency lighting unit with battery backup. 9) Light fixtures type O on the exterior wall north side of the building to be powered from a new 20A, 120V circuit L ) Rooms132A, 132B Lighting circuit is changed to L ) Rooms 1WOM1 and 1 MEN1 Occupancy sensor type is changed to type D. T. Regarding Drawing E102, see the following modifications or clarifications: 1) Stairs 2STR1 and 2STR2 - Lighting fixture are to be connected to emergency power circuit EM- 15 and EM-17. 2) Room 2COR2 Add the circuit numbers supplying the fixtures on this corridor: EM-15 and L2-18. 10 3) Rooms 2WOM1 and 2MEN1 Occupancy sensor type is changed to type D. 4) Room 227 Add (2) Light fixtures type (E). 5) Room 227, 229 Add (1) wall mounted emergency light unit with battery backup in each room. 6) Rooms: 202, 204 and 214 Lighting control is changed as follows: each room has 2 light zones: one zone for the front light fixtures located in the proximity of the projector screen and one zone for remaining light fixtures. The two zones will be controlled by the light switches already shown on the drawings. 7) Room 222 Add (1) Light switch. 8) Room 218 South (Open to below) Light fixture type Q circuit number is changed to L ) Building exterior wall mounted light fixtures type N is deleted. U. Regarding Drawing E103, see the following modifications or clarifications: 1) Stairs 3STR1 and 3STR2 - Lighting fixtures are to be connected to emergency power circuit EM- 19 and EM-21. 2) Rooms: 389, 311, 319, 327, 329, Lighting control is changed as follows: each room has 2 light zones: one zone for the front light fixtures located in the proximity of the projector screen and one zone for remaining light fixtures. The two zones will be controlled by the light switches already shown on the drawings. 3) North Corridor Lighting circuits are to be L3-13, L3-17. Add (1) occupancy sensor type C. 4) South Corridor Lighting circuits are to be L3-15, L3-19. Add (3) occupancy sensors type C. 5) Room 316 Lighting circuit for (2) fixtures is to be L3-18. Add (1) Occupancy sensor type B. 6) Room 3WOM1 and 3MEN 1 Occupancy sensor type is changed to type D. 7) Room 348 Light switch is to be replaced with (1) occupancy sensor switch. 8) Basement Mechanical Room - Emergency lighting circuit is to be EM-25. Stairs light fixtures are to be connected to emergency power circuit EM-25. V. Regarding Drawing E201A, see the following modifications or clarifications: 1) Room 101 Delete Projector power, data/av receptacles were deleted. Add (1)LCD monitor. Add(1) Power quad receptacle, data and AV outlets for AV Rack, new Power circuit to be 20A, 120V, 1P from circuit R ) Booth 101A, 101B, 119C, 119D, 119A, 119B Add at each booth (1) Booth fan control circuit including (1) control switch, wired to (1) duplex receptacle located above the Booth. Add at each booth (1) Wiremold Raceway with power and telecommunication receptacles to be installed above the booth work desk. 3) Room 105 AV Rack power and data receptacles are relocated to the North West corner of the room. The Front Lighting control switch, Motorized Shades control switches and Motorized screen control switch are to be grouped and located near the Teacher desk. 4) Room The AV Rack power quad receptacle and data receptacles are to be located in South- East corner of room. New Power circuit will be from C The Front Lighting control switch, Motorized Shades control switches and Motorized screen control switches are to be grouped and located near the Teacher s desk 5) Room 1WOM1 Dryers circuits are changed to P1(36, 38) and P1(40,42) 6) Room 2MEN1 - Dryers circuit is changed to P1(32, 34) 7) Room 125, The Front Lighting control switches, Motorized Shades control switches and Motorized screen control switches are to be grouped and located near the Teacher s desk. 8) Corridor 1COR1 Add RS power and data outlets for Sign displays at seven (7) door locations on the North side of the corridor. 11 h) Corridor 1COR1 Add RS power and data outlets for Sign displays at five (5) door locations on the South side of the corridor. Power is to be supplied from (1) new circuit C ) Room 104 Add (2) Floor boxes including power, data and AV between 1 st and 2 nd chair rows; new power circuits R1B-35 and R1B-37 to supply the quad receptacles from the floor boxes. AV Rack quad receptacle to be supplied by circuit C1-33. Add Power and data outlets for (1) new LCD monitor on the east side wall. The Front Lighting control switch, Motorized Shades control switches and Motorized screen control switches are to be grouped and located near the Teacher s desk. 10) Room The Front Lighting control switch, Motorized Shades control switches and Motorized screen control switches are to be grouped and located between the motorized screens. 11) Room The Front Lighting control switch, Motorized Shades control switches and Motorized screen control switches are to be grouped and located near the Teacher s desk. Add (4) new circuits C101-9,11, 10, 12 to serve the AV rack new quad receptacle and other room power requirements. 12) Room Projector power and data receptacles were deleted. Add power and date for (3) new LCD monitors, power to be supplied from R1B-32, 34, 36. The Front Lighting control switch and Motorized Shades control switch are to be grouped and located on the East side wall. Add data and (1) Printer duplex receptacle on circuit R1B-24. Add RS power and data for Sign displays at door to Room 132 from circuit R ) Room 140 Add (1) new Floor box including power and data outlets. Power is to be provided from a new circuit C1-3. LCD monitor power is to be supplied from new circuit R1-5 14) Add Key Note #35 reading: Floor boxes shall be FSR Inc Model# FL500P-4-SLP unless otherwise indicated. 15) RS - Digital Sign to include 120V receptacle and data box. W.
