AMA CHARTER 1040 GOLD LEADERSHIP CLUB THE PRESIDENT S TRACK September 23rd is the big Palatine High School Cross Country Meet at Deer Grove East and so the flying field will be closed while the meet is going on. The meet starts at 9:00am and runs until midafternoon. We ask that NO ONE tries to fly during the meet because of the number of people at this event, it is not safe to fly over them. Also it will be very difficult to get into the Forest Preserve because of all the cars and busses there. When the meet is finished and the people have left it is OK to fly again. We had our first Pizza Fly In on Wednesday August 23rd, it was a little windy so we only had 2 or 3 flyers but we had around 13 people at Barnaby s for pizza, a good time was had by all. Thank you Don for organizing this outing. We will be doing again next year. On September 16th we are having another flying demonstration for the Fox Point Senior Home. I think it will be from 10 till noon, if you plan on attending come out for the day and have some fun. Our September Fun Fly will be on September 17th at 10:00am weather permitting. Secretary Report Murry Randell: The minutes were accepted as published in the newsletter. Treasurer Report Jim Kaufman: stated club numbers Newsletter Report Bob Breckler: Send Photos from any events that you have attended this summer or build project Webmaster Report Doug Bradbury: No Report. Committee Reports: Winter Banquet OPEN Field Marshal Jim Kaufman: Jim noted that the Forest Preserve is not mowing at a regular schedule again. 3 September 2017 Volume 24 Issue 9 Page 3 Old Business The next Fox Point Senior Center Demonstration and Lunch will be on September 16th please arrive early if your going to fly, make a day of it Thanks to everyone that helped out with the Summer Picnic this year and made it a big success New Business Steve presented pictures on how to properly close and lock the shed The club will hold a pizza night on August 23rd. Fly in the afternoon and meet for pizza at Barnaby s on Rand Road afterwards (was a great success, Thanks Don). Crash Reports Tom Jetson - Kaos was acting strangely, what had happened was that the landing gear had come loose. Ron Petterec - either a loose battery connection or a faulty switch. His Zero was last seen flying into the rising sun in the east. Jim Keehan - Plane was lost behind the trees. Steve Gelman - CUB had a dead stick. Bob Breckler - Husky stalled on a touch and go, will be repaired FOOD PANTRY DONATIONS We are collecting non-perishable foods for a local food pantry. The food pantry we are donating to is Our Lady of Ransom/St Vincent de Paul. Please bring your donations to our monthly meetings. Thanks to Carl Will for delivering the Food to the Pantry.
