Our guest speaker for the June Program will be Yvonne Phenici. Yvonne is a member of the Colusa quilt guild, Pacific Flyway Quilters. Her lecture is called Around, Around, Around, and other Quilt Challenges. This will be a showing of round robins and challenge quilts. She will show some of the many ways that these projects can be done. I am sure that many of us will be eager to try round robin activity as a result of her presentation. Newer members, be sure not to miss this program. This is a great way to participate in a group activity. Thank you all for your supporte Shirley Scofield Marilla Brereton BOUTIQUE: June 2nd and 3rd will be sew days at the Grange to work on Boutique items or whatever you wish. I will have yardage that has been donated by some very generous companies that you can use for table runners, quilts or table toppers. I will also have some patterns for some wonderful pincushions and there is cotton canvas to make some totes. We are asking everyone to make 5 items and if you make a quilt it will count as your 5 items. Some items that have been popular thus far are, really cute pincushions, children's aprons in various sizes, table runners, placemats and fusible appliqued dishtowels (we are trying to get the towels). Thank you to all who have already brought in items, they are wonderful. any questions please call, Sharon Helton Oroville Piecemakers Quilt Guild Board Meeting May 12, 2016 At Butte County Library, 1820 Mitchell, Oroville CA Meeting called to order: at 9:05am by President, Marla Vaughn In Attendance: Marla Vaughn, Linda Pearson, Sharon Helton, Judy Hohman, Jan Owens, Nancy Clayton, Jan Abramson, Marilla Brereton, Terry Catt, Ann Harvey, Dorothy Welton, Shirley Scofield, Susan Coyle. OLD BUSINESS Approval of last month s minutes: motion by Shirley Scofield. Seconded by Jan Owens. passed unanimously. Vote on tickets and postcards JanAbramson. Moved by Nancy Clayton that we purchase more quilt tickets and postcards. Seconded by Judy Hohman. Passed unanimously. Treasurer s report: Sharon Helton reported that we are over $4,000 in quilt profits. Total balance in accounts $22, NEW BUSINESS: Purchase a shade enclosure. The cost with tax is $214. Moved by Nancy Clayton and seconded by Linda Pearson. Passed unanimously. Possible discount for second vendor space. Discussion was mixed. Decision was made to wait one more month. Sew Day fees. Judy Hohman moved that we suspend the fee for open sew days as long as the budget can cover costs and we do not have an outside teacher. Shirley Scofield seconded. Passed unanimously. Purchase rolling suitcase for boutique items. Shirley Scofield will donate a small suitcase. Two day sew days on June 2/3. Will ask at the General Meeting to see if there is enough interest. CHAIRPERSON CONCERNS: Quilt Coordinator: Sharon Helton...same space at County Fair. We need 5 quilts entered in the Fair to get the free space. Angel quilter is closing shop but will still do shows. Feather Fiesta Days quilt made $ and the Boutique made $ Suggestion that larger quilts be donated to the Boutique and counted as all five items. Community Service: Jan Owens, Polyester batting available. Suggestion made to by solid color fabrics for

3 Community Service. Programs: Dorothy Welton. May will be Claudia Goeble and Terri Catt. June will be Yvonne Phenicie on round robin and challenge quilts. July will be presentation on wool felting with a mini orkshop on Pineapple. Brown bag lunch in July. August meeting Ashley will do a mini workshop with a social afterward. No workshop in October. Pat knochel will come Thursday the 13th of October. Possibility of Board meeting the 20th of October. Block of Month: Susan Coyle. June will be Butterfly's Kiss blocks in muted colors and July will be an Ohio Star in red, white and blue. Hospitality: Nancy Clayton. Looking good for May. Facilities: Marilla Brereton. Thanks for help with the cleanup. Need to mark our coffee pot. Door Prize Raffle: Shirley Scofield. Made $74.00 last month. Name tags for quilt show: Shirley Scofield has designed a name tag that can be printed on fabric and embellished. Workshops: Judy Hohman. Quilt Show: Terri Catt. Still no food chair. Membership We had 49 in attendance with one guest, Sheryl Nelson, niece of Ann Bruggeman Auda Hill Ann Harvey Library news If I am at the General meeting, the library will be open. Just look for me and I will help you find the book you need. Templates for marking your quilts are also available from the library. If there is a new book you would like to see in the library, please let me know and I will try to order it. There are hundreds of books in the library and most are older, but the older blocks really work up nice with the newer fabric line. Quilting is often just doing something different with blocks our ancestors created. I purchased 9 different color solids so that bindings can be done and also used to make more quilts. Thanks for the suggestion. Welcome Visiting Opportunity Quilt: Pioneer Quilt Guild...Christmas quilt. Introduction of Speaker: Dorothy Welton: introduced guest speakers Terry Catt and Claudia Goebl. 4 New Business: Extra Sew Day: We already have June 2 nd scheduled for an open sew day and would like to continue through the 3 rd. There was enough interest for both days. Sew Day Fees: The Board decided that the$10 fee for open sew days will be suspended because our budget for this year is very healthy. Fees will still be collected when we have an outside teacher. Boutique Donations: If you donate a quilt to be sold at the quilt show, that donation will count as your 5 boutique items. Designing Women: will have several retreats June 21-25, July 14-16, and August Reports: Vice President: Dorothy Welton Vice President (workshops): Judy Hohman. June sew days are free choice. Workshop after July 21 General Meeting. Ashley Coffee will do a Pineapple block. You will need to have the ruler and precut strips. Treasurer: Sharon Helton. We need to have five quilts to get our free space. We also need members to sign up to quilt sit at the Fair and other events. Boutique items: Sharon Helton. Lots of different items to make. Pincushions and fused appliqué dish towels are big sellers. Fabric is available for larger projects such as quilts, aprons. Committee Reports: Block of the Month: Susan Howard, Linda Pearson. 18 blocks turned in went to Ann Harvey. Next month's block is Butterfly Kisses. Community Service: Jan Owens, Dottie Elliot. 22 quilts turned I today. Lots of batting, backing, panels, solid fabrics available. Door Prize Baskets: Marilla Brereton. Took in $78. Baskets went to: 1. Auda Hill 2. Ann Harvey 3. Judy Hohman, Mystery Prize went to Claudia Goebel. Fat Quarters: Terri Russell. Won by; Terri Russell, Jackie Conn, Jan Owens, and Norma Jones. Next month patriotic colors. 50/50 Raffle: Juanita Gilchrist, Mary Jane Sasek. Collected $42. Loretta Waite won half. Hospitality: Nancy Clayton. Need people to sign up for summer months. Librarian: Cheryl Campbell. Library is open and a list of books is available. Stencils are also available. Membership: Auda Hill, Ann Harvey. 49 members and one guest were present today. Mercantile Table: Bev Smith, Debbie Rookard. $60.50 collected today. Quilt Show: Terry Catt. Still need help with food, decorations. Quilt entry forms will be available soon. Morning Star is being sold. Hancock fabrics is going out of business. Vendors needed for Quilt Show: Please help recruit vendors for the Quilt Show. I am making 5" x 5" squares for give away at the Quilt Show. Many are from donation fabrics and some are from my stash. If you have small pieces of fabric you won't be using, could you please cut them into 5" squares and give them to me for the charm towers I'm assembling. Go through your stash or use

5 your JoAnn coupon to. buy a fat quarter or half yd. Keep 1/2 of it for yourself and the other half for OPQG drawing. A fat quarter is 18" x 22". Use a mailing label on it to identify yourself as the giver. Thank you members for the lovely white on white I received in May. Hadn't won in ages. Door Prizes - Yvonne won a Baby Quilt kit and heart templates and a Quilt journal. Tiffany won a Stack of Animal prints, an Organizer for quilting or embroidery and a Quilt journal. Sabrina won the Mystery Box, a set of 5 Rotary Blades, Butterfly pins and basting table clips. Fat Quarters - Dorothy Smith won 8 Polka dot Fat Quarters and Annie won 7. Next month bring Red White and Blue. Workshop - Linda showed the group how to make Mesh Tote Bags, very nice and usable! Annie and Ashley both have supplies at their Shop's if you want to make more. Next month Michele will teach a Chevron Quilt, she handed out fabric requirements, if you didn't get a supply list, call Michele. In July, Jean will teach English Paper Piecing. Block of the Month - Dorothy W won seven pink, black and white butterfly blocks. Next month's block is Doubly Strip Half Square Triangle Block. Tip of the Month - Michele gave us a hand out on Marking, Cutting and Sewing Perfect pieced half square triangles the accurate and hassle free. Show and Tell - Wanda shared a pink, white and green "Paris Quilt" for her Granddaughter, and a "Houses" quilt, a House Warming gift for her daughter. Claudia shared "Gravity" the 2017 Opportunity Quilt Top. Nancy shared "Boxes of Color" from a Linda Ballard workshop she took, and "Elephants on Parade".Shirley shared a Raw edge Applique quilt and "Lewis and Clark" quilt in Civil War fabrics, both taught Sue Bouchard of Quilt in a Day. Debbie shared "Hugs and Kisses" baby quilt in a lady bug print. Annie shared matching dresses with Juli and her "Light House" Row Quilt. Linda shared a pink, green and white "Orange Peel" quilt with a paisley print, for her Granddaughter. Food Committee - Thank you Dorothy W, Pat S, Marge, Michele, Virginia, Linda and Debbie for a fabulous meal! Next month Becky, Lynn S, and Annie - Main Dish, Becky, Nancy and Ashley - Salad, and Michele and Becky Dessert Claudia Goebl, Scribe President s message: First I want to thank all you wonderful people for donating so many beautiful items for the raffle baskets. It is amazing how much we have collected and looks like we have enough for more than a couple of baskets. It is great having so many generous people in our group! Thank you Claudia Goebl and her committee for the 2016/2017 Opportunity quilt. Way colorful and different than we have had in the past. Everyone who like bold colors and modern design will love it. We need all of you to remember the quilt guild needs donations for the boutique and for us to find volunteers for the food committee. Everyone has good ideas, so it needs to come together with a committee that can work together and find a happy medium. If you know anyone who is willing to work with the quilt guild for the food at the quilt show, please contact the day group.
