We are having a wonderful time. Everything is green. I promise to come soon, Marla Vaughn V-President:. In Marla s absence, I would like to submit a few comments to our members following the June meeting. Yvonne Phenici was most enjoyable, and gave is many examples of various, row quilts, round robins, and some versions of mystery quilts, and blocks. Some would involve large groups, some are very suitable for a small group. As Jan Abramson explained at the meeting, those of us with computers will be furnishing the information on our quilts, for the quilt show, online this year. This will spare the ladies preparing the cards attached to your items, having to type all of the information themselves. Those without internet capabilities will prepare a descriptive entry form as we have in the past, and then someone will enter that information into the computer program for you. We hope this will save time and energy to get this part of the process completed. My compliments to Jan and her helpers for getting this task handled. If any of you are interested in trying English Paper Piecing, Jean Drane and Jan Nielsen are doing a class to get you started at the July 21st meeting of the Moonlighters. Their meeting starts at 6:00 p.m. with a quick dinner, and then by 6:30 p.m. the regular meeting gets under way. Please contact Jean to get the details on the class. 2 Programs: Our program for July will feature two ladies from the Mt. Lassen Fiber Guild. This organization puts on the Fiber Fusion event out at the Patrick Ranch each year. At the Fiber Fusion event they are shearing sheep, carding, cleaning and spinning the wool, and then making a shawl. Wendy Ardell and Lori Mason have volunteered to represent the Fiber Guild, and give us an overview of Wool Felting and its uses. For those who currently do wool appliqué, or those of you curious about making garments or purses, for instance, this should be very interesting. This will be another opportunity to expand our field of knowledge as fiber artists. See you all then. Dorothy Weldon Block of the Month:. I know everyone is trying to get their quilts ready for the show, but try to squeeze in a community service quilt or two. Remember we have batting, backing and fabric. Today I brought out the 7 1/2" pre-cut squares. If you didn't get to see them, stop by next month, browse and take some home. Jan Owens

3 QUILT TICKETS Just two members left to pick up the required 3 packets of 6 tickets ($15). For the rest of you, might you consider picking up one more packet to SELL. Most of you seem to have purchased your first batch of tickets for yourself. You are probably thinking all your friends have seen the quilt at one or another of our venues, but I'll bet there is someone who hasn't. We have a few members that have regularly picked up additional tickets to sell. Thank you. I do bring the tickets and photos to every meeting, so no excuses for not getting more. We are at almost $5000 profit with many more venues to come. It is a popular quilt Terri Russell QUILT SHOW INFORMATION Members, if you participated in our last MYSTERY PROJECT, be sure to enter it in the show. Plans are still indefinite as to whether it will be hung in your personal grouping or in a separate MYSTERY grouping, but do enter it. Many quilts are needed for a successful show Terri Russell Fat Quarters: 18" x 22" is a fat quarter. Cut a half yard in half vertically for 2 fat quarters, please. for more winners. We had a good response with red/white/blue. July's theme is HOT just like the weather: bright, hot: reds, oranges, yellows, solids, tone on tone, tiny print, batik, etc Terri Russell Door Prize Raffle: We took in $83.00 today - thank you so much everyone for your generous support. The winners were Loretta Waite, Judy Stryker, Norma Jones, and Betty Drake won the mystery prize. Shirley Scofield and Marilla Brereton 2016 OPPORTUNITY QUILT We have a couple of events scheduled to show our quilt and sell tickets in August. All time slots, except one are filled and thank you to all who have signed up. The open time slot is at the Berry Festival in Berry Creek on Saturday August 13 and the time is from 9:30am - Noon, please let me know if you can sit with the quilt on that day and time. The other event is the Butte County Fair in Gridley from August 25-28, stop in and see us if you go to the fair, we will be just outside the quilt room, How would you like to enter a quilt in the FAIR. I would like to ask that if you have any quilts that you have made over the last two years and they have not been shown, think about putting them in the fair. If we have 5 quilts that have been entered, then we get the space to show our opportunity quilt for free. Thank you in advance for considering this. 4 BOUTIQUE for Quilt Show As many of you know, we are asking that each member make five items to put into the boutique at our quilt show October 1 & 2 and the guild will get the proceeds. I am in need of some help to look for items to make, make a sample and print out directions. If you can help me, please let me know. Welcome visiting Opportunity Quilt: flying Needles from Woodland. Old Business: Approval of last month s minutes: Motion by Michele Lovin, Seconded by Terry Catt. Approved unanimously. New Business: None Reports: Vice President Dorothy Welton reported next month two ladies from the wool felting group will be here as trunk show. 2 nd Vice President (workshops) Judy Hohman announced after our General meeting on July 21 Ashley Coffey will teach us how to make a Pineapple Block. You will need a special ruler and precut your strips. In August- Ashley will demonstrate rulers after our meeting. Treasurers: Sharon Helton, Ending Balances for May: General fund is $9, Raffle fund: $ Angel fund: Total Motion to accept the Treasurers report made by Michele Lovin second by Judy Hohman, passed unanimously. Boutique Items: Sharon Helton. If you take fabric you must use it for boutique items, Please return any unused fabric. There are lots of items available for members to work on. Patterns and fabrics are available. Quilt show; Terry Catt. We still need volunteers to help with the show. Sandi Corkran will contact Stars for help. Quilt Show entry forms: Jan Abramson, Paper entry forms were handed out to those without computer s. I will have more copies at the next meeting if you need them. If you have , please send your entries via . You can print out a copy of the questions, then go down the list putting in the answers only and to me. All entries are due by our meeting August 18 th. Committee Reports: Block of the Month: Susan Coyle and Linda Pearson reported there were 24 Butterfly Kisses turn in and they were won by Susan. Next month s block is the Ohio Star Community Services: Jan Owens and Dottie Elliot have a stack of precut 7.5 fabric for quilts. Door Prize Baskets: Marilla Brereton, They took in $ Baskets went to Loretta Waite, Judy Stryker, Norma Jones and the mystery basket to Betty Drake. Fat Quarters: Terri Russell: They were won by Debbie Rookard, Michele Lovin, and Shirley Reed, Next month is sunshine hot summer colors. 50/50 Raffle, Juanita Gilchrist, Mary Jane Sasek. They collected $55.00 so the winner gets $27.50 and the winner was Shirley Scofield. Hospitality: Nancy Clayton; There are enough people signed up for the rest of the summer. Membership Auda Hill-Ann Harvey: We had 42 members present today. Mercantile table: Bev Smith and Debbie Rookard. Not open today. Sunshine- Virginia Brile, no cards sent out last month. If you know anyone who needs a card please call her. Other Issues and Concerns: Silver Dollar Fair: Ann Harvey shared a thank you note to the guild and the names of prize winners. Cheryl Campbell needs fabric in the theme of Gone with the Wind and Wizard of Oz A new quilt shop in Marysville it is called Sew in Piece, the address is th street. Wanda and Claudia ran the meeting. Door Prizes - Virginia won a project box, collapsible container, a set of pressing bars, a needle threader and a Dresden Plate template. Susan M won a project box, a collapsible container, set of Thangles and a Tumbler template. Lynne P won the Mystery box which contained a Queen size Batting and a collapsible container. Fat Quarters - Lynn S won 10 Red, White and Blue fat quarters! Next month bring a dark Batik any color, any print. Block of the Month - Ashley won 10 Double Striped 1/2 square Triangle Blocks for May. June's block is Ribbon Star, if you didn't get one contact Ashley. Workshop - Michele lead the group in making a Chevron Pattern quilt. Next month Jean and Jan will show us English Paper Piecing. In August, we will learn to use a special ruler to make Cat's Cradle blocks, taught by Ashley. September 's workshop will be Lynne P showing us how to do a flanged binding. Tip of the Month - Susan M shared Silica jell packets with us, she suggests putting them in drawers and containers that hold metal pins and rotary blades to keep them from rusting in winter. Next month Ashley will give us a tip. Show and Tell - Michele shared a simple four color quilt called BQ3 in fabrics a friend chose for her, an a Mexican Star Wall hanging in the same fabrics, and a Black White and Aqua quilt called Movement in Squares. Becky shared her Linda Ballard Mystery Quilt from last year and a baby quilt she made from all the leftover fabric, and a "No Brainer" large quilt for her daughter. Ashley shared a community service quilt she made with a spider web ruler, and a Red and White wall hanging Snail Trail and Square in a Square blocks. Susan M shared two community service quilts in fall colors and a Nine Patch Baby quilt in Pastels with big rick rack. Lynn S shared information on a Retreat with classes. Food - Thank you to Lynn S, Becky, Michele, Annie, Ashley and Nancy for a fabulous dinner! Next month Michele, Pat W and Jeri - Main Dish, Jean and Nan N - Salads and Jean and Debbie - Dessert. MOONLIGHTERS--I would like to purpose to the moonlighter s who participated in not just one, but 2 mystery quilts last year: we should enter our finished quilts and have them grouped together if at all possible. We have the Christmas quilt, organized by Wanda Daly, and the mystery quilt by Feather River Fabric- Annie Latka organized.
