1 Volume XXXV Issue 3 March 2018 Since 1980 OROVILLE PIECEMAKERS QUILT GUILD, INC. Newsletter Editor: Jan Abramson (530) abramsonjan@gmail.com Web Site : orovillepiecemakers.org Angie Horne webmaster aphorne3@yahoo.com President s Message: Hello, OPQG Quilters! Oh my, what a wonderful group we had at our general and moonlighters meeting this month. At show and tell, beautiful quilts and community quilts shown at both meetings. With all your help we have been able to send out a large quantity of quilts into the community. This year Moonlighters are finishing their firefighter quilt project and will be presenting their quilts. We have a great year ahead of us in the Guild and it should be fun and interesting. This is the year of our Quilt Show which is a busy time for all of us. It is a time to showcase the work we have done over the last two years. We also have a beautiful Opportunity Quilt Star Bright to show and sell tickets at many Guilds and events this year. Remember, the money we received from the Opportunity Quilt, helps support quilting activities and quilter s expertise through education, programs and workshops, and provide public service projects for the good of the community. Please take time to think about what contribution you will make to the show. It is our major fundraiser. Your contribution will ensure that we have a successful show. Ladies, thank you for all your help and support. Jeanette Akin, Moonlighters Chair: February is here and so can spring be far behind. We are all very busy with so much serving to do for the Quilt Show. As every month comes so does our Quilt Show draws closer. I enjoyed this month s Block of the Month. Waiting to see what we draw for mystery chance challenge. It is good to see your friendly faces again. The food was delicious as usual, our chair is doing a good job reminding us what we are to bring each month. PUP projects can still be shown next month, and members will vote on which one to finish. In April, Claudia will conduct a class on Scrappy Mountain Majesties a supply list was passed out to members. If you are interested, please contact Claudia. We had a great meeting tonight and new projects started. See you all next month, missed a few faces this meeting. Sharon Helton, March Workshop: Our February retreat was a huge success. If you missed it we are having an Angel Retreat in June. Cost of the class is $ If you haven't signed up and want to take the class call me and I will send you a supply list. If you want to come and sew on your own project the cost is $10.00 and if you are working on a community service project, it is free. Class starts a 9:00 and lunch is a potluck so bring something to share. Linda Pearson, March Materials: I am looking forward to teaching the Christmas ornament(s) wall hanging. You will need a yard of dark background and for each ornament seven 1/8 th yard pieces of fabric. the 7 pieces should range from dark to light. I'm ready to help you with this pretty wall hanging.
