1 Volume XXXV Issue 7 July 2018 Since 1980 OROVILLE PIECEMAKERS QUILT GUILD, INC. Newsletter Editor: Jan Abramson (530) abramsonjan@gmail.com Web Site : orovillepiecemakers.org Angie Horne webmaster aphorne3@yahoo.com President s Message: Quilter s Quote: Quilts are like friends, a great source of comfort Hello Quilters! I can t believe that summer has arrived, and there is so much to do. Our 2018 Quilt Show is just around the corner and we can use all the help that we can get. I do want to thank all of you who have volunteer to help with the opportunity quilt, signing up for events and other quilt guilds. Also, members who are working with Sharon Helton, Quilt Show Coordinator Chair, with programs, sponsors, donors, judging, advertising, vendors and many other jobs, the list goes on. We still need volunteers!! Don t be bashful about volunteering for any of the committees. Instead come and join us, it will be fun I promised. Just a couple notes: Boutique Items: Dorothy Moyle-Smith will need your items by September s meeting. She states small quilts, purses, aprons were a big selling item. Any questions please follow-up with her. Nominating Committee: Let me know if you are interested in volunteering as a member of the committee. I need 3 members for committee, would like to have 1 board member as one of the represented. Contact me if you are interested Open Chair Position: Judy Hohman, Facilities/Properties Chair had to step down. I will need a replacement until the end of the year. If you are interested, please contact me. Let s all work together making our Beauty on the River 2018 Quilt Show the best one ever! Jeanette Akin, Moonlighters Chair: Today is the official start of Summer, and to prove it, Mother Nature is giving us scorching weather. There were several moonlighters at our last sewing retreat. I didn t get much done. Dorothy Moyle-Smith, Boutique Chair, and I priced boutique items on Thursday, boy was that a job too. I did get an apron done for the boutique and my sewing machine fixed as did many others. We are sure everyone is busy sewing for the quilt show and also fitting in vacations. The Kids Quilt Camp is coming and soon and we hope its a success. It would be nice to get some kids hooked on quilting. I enjoyed making our Block of the Month Comfortable Easy Chair. Dinner was outstanding, and the Food Committee did a good job as usual. Moonlighters are doing a Garden Theme Basket for the 2018 Quilt Show. Please bring garden theme things for our basket. Virginia Brile July Birthdays 7/2 Millie Top 7/11 Angie Horne 7/18 Linda Pearson

2 June Speaker: Marjan Kluepfel was a wonderful speaker and very creative, I hope we will be able to have a workshop or two with her in the future.
