1 Autumn workshop list OliVen Patchwork and felting Sewing for Charity Wednesdays at 10 3:30 PM - 19th Sept, 31st Oct, 28th Nov In our third year of charity sewing we are going to concentrate on quilts for children as part of Project Linus which supplies quilts for children in hospitals from birth till 18 years old. We will be making them using quilt-as-you-go technique, simple and fast method which uses leftovers of fabric. All you need is to know how to sew a straight stitch! These days are free and we welcome everybody no matter your sewing experience! Or you can help us by donating any cotton fabric or leftovers of wadding. All levels welcome Price FREE spaces limited please book Scissor sisters sewing club Wednesdays 12/9, 26/9, 10/10, 24/10, 7/11, 21/11, 12/12 Thursdays, 6/9, 20/9, 1/11, 15/11, 29/11, 6/12, Saturdays 8th September, 13th October, 3rd November, 1st December Full day of sewing with same minded people, sharing of ideas, helping each other and having a good time that s what our sewing club is all about! Whether you want to start a new project or need to finish one started long time ago, whether it s a piece of clothing, cushion, bag or a quilt, whatever the project, no matter how big or small, let s finish it together! Club is run fortnightly on Wednesdays and Thursdays and monthly on Saturdays. You can book on regular basis or just pick the dates which suits you. Vendulka is available all day for advice. This is your chance to face your fear and build your confidence with an experienced tutor. This is an ongoing class, up to 4 different lessons, come to one or all four. All skills levels Price 25 per session

2 Yellow brick road Thursday 13th September at 10-4 PM Helen s very favourite paper piecing method brings us funky shapes for a very modern look. It would look great as a cushion or a starting point for a quilt. Tutor: Helen Butcher Confident Hand applique - Robin with Shirley Friday 28th September at 10-4 PM The workshop covers the basics of needle turned hand appliqué including points and curves as well as fabric choices and shading. Students will work on a Robin design which is good for confident beginners as well as those with some experience who would like to develop their skills. Lots of tips and techniques are packed into the workshop together with ideas for using the design in projects. Tutor: Shirley Bloomfield Confident Cats by Helen Howes Thursday 11th October at 10-4 PM Helen is known for her improv piecing. Well this cute looking cat block is just that. Each cat is unique and individual, perfect for using leftovers. Learn the technique in a day and turn your blocks into a quilt for your cat loving friend. Tutor: Helen Howes Scandi panel Tuesday 23rd October at 10-4 PM Come and create stylish cushion or a wall panel. Few matching fabric (perfect for using charm pack or some of your leftovers to match a quilt) easy piecing and machine appliqué. Perfect project to get our sewing mojo back. Tutor: Sally Goodacre

3 Falling leaves mobile Saturday 20th October at 10-4 PM This pretty mobile is made entirely from layered organza and stitching. There is no stiffening involved so the organza retains its natural sheen. There will be a variety of leaf patterns available, ranging from simple to more complex shapes to accommodate all abilities. Easily achievable in a day. Tutor: Jenny Lankester Painting with Inktens Thursday 4th October at 10-4 PM Intense pencils and blocks are wonderful way how to add colour to your work. They have bright colours, you can mix them and shade them for wonderful effects. You will quilt a design first and colour it in the afternoon. Tutor: Rosemary Muntus Confident Quilted and painted design Saturday 29th September at 10-4 PM OR Friday 30th November at 10-4 PM We will quilt and we will paint with our easy to use glitter liners. You can choose Christmas design or Mandala design, I have designs for free motion quilting or straight stitch with a walking foot to accommodate all abilities. Xmas Wreath with Robin cushion Friday 12th October at 10-4 PM Saturday 17th November at 10-4 PM Bondaweb appliqué, little bit of stitching and possibly adding bit of glitter liners to lift the design. We will make a panel which you can turn into a cushion or a wall hanging.

4 Contemporary Stain Glass Friday 5th October at 10-4 PM Saturday 10th November at 10-4 PM Let s take this traditional technique and give it more modern look. I will guide you through designing your own or you can use one of my designs - Roses, abstract or one of the Christmas ones. Christmas tree in Cathedral windows Friday 19th October at 10-4 PM This project is not in my book, so the only way to be able to make this Christmas tree panel in Cathedral window technique is by coming to the class. It will bring the spirit of the Christmas to your home. Intermediate Price 42 Silhouettes Friday 2nd November at 10-4 PM Do you have that beautiful fabric which is just too precious to cut into? Ombre fabrics, or hand dyed work best for this project where we use bondaweb appliqué to bring a black design on top of your fabric for wonderful silhouettes effect. More designs available. Beginners Price 42 Bags for every day Friday 14th September at 10-4 PM Thursday 22nd November at 10-4 PM We prepared two new designs for everyday bags using new product - In-r-form Single Sided Fusible - it s a very fine foam, which is nice and soft to work with, but bounces back into shape! Which makes these bags to stay in the shape! You will love them!

5 ONE INCH squares cushion or wall hanging Friday 23rd November at 10-4 PM Do you always keep your leftovers - even the tiny ones?! If you can cut 1 square out of them, bring them in and let s turn them into something unique and seemingly very time consuming - that s until I show you my shortcut! All abilities Price 42 Dream catcher Wednesday 3rd October at 10-4 PM Whether you believe in the magic of dream catchers or not, they are still beautiful creations to look at. Learn to weave the net, make your own feathers from organza and have fun! All abilities Price 42 Ring 3.50 Fabric and crochet blanket Friday 9th November at 10-4 PM Simple squares joined together by a crochet - perfect project for cold winter evenings. Straight stitch on the machine and couple of different crochet stitches multiply by as many as you feel like. The smallest project is cushion but you can take it as far as you d like.

6 Poncho and infinity scarf Saturday 22nd September at 10-1 PM Friday 16th November at 10-1 PM You need a three hours, one meter of nice tweed or similar fabric, 4 buttons and some fancy lining and I ll show you how to turn it into two fashionable project - infinity scarf which twists around your neck to showcase the tweed as much as the lining. The poncho will be a lovely addition to your spring and autumn wardrobe. Would you like to learn how to follow a patter to make a garment for yourself? Informal class, bring your fabric, pattern and sewing machine and I ll guide you through the process. 8 Terms: To reserve your place on any of the workshops, please, call into the shop or telephone or us at Full payment within 10 days of booking to secure your place on the workshop needed. Cancellation with 2 weeks notice - we will refund your payment or offer you a place on a future workshop. Cancellations within 13-8 days of the workshop we will refund 50% of the payment. Last minute cancellations, ie. 7 days or less before a workshop we re afraid we cannot refund any payments as from experience we ve found it impossible to fill places at such short notice. Full refund for cancelation under 14 days possible if we replace you. Thank you for understanding with these formalities. A requirement list will be given at the time of booking. The cost of supplies and fabrics are not included in the cost of workshop unless stated. If you purchase your supplies for the workshop at OliVen you will receive 5% discount. A sewing machine or overlocker can be hired in the shop for 5 a day - subject to availability.
