Free open studio time and 25lbs of stoneware clay included with all 8-week classes. studio privileges are only available during weeks classes are in session. Basic ceramic tool kit (available at Pewabic Gallery Store) and one gallon bucket (found at any hardware store) is required for each class. Daytime classes are reserved for students 15 and older. Sculpting, carving and hand-painting will be covered, as well as mold-making for pressing tile. 5 Education Catalogue FRIDAY AM SPECIAL TOPICS: RAKU Fridays, 10:00AM-1:00PM Lauren McCoy Session 1: August 31-October 19 This class will cover the traditional methods of Raku firing. Students will learn through discussion, demonstration, and participation the glazing and firing techniques surrounding the art of Raku. This class will not cover the construction of work fired. Prior ceramic knowledge is required. FRIDAY AM SPECIAL TOPICS: THE VESSEL AS A STARTING PLACE Fridays, 10:00AM-1:00PM Henry Crissman Session 2: October 26-December 14 In this class students will explore functional ceramics as a means for personal expression and public engagement. 6-WEEK CLASSES, $ Our six-week class offerings are geared toward beginner students that have never touched clay before. These classes are designed to survey your abilities and figure out which 8-week class would best suit your interests. These classes do not include open studio time, but it can be purchased for an additional $20.00 for the session. Clay, glazes and firings are included with enrollment. BEGINNER WHEEL THROWING, $ Weeks Duration Saturdays, 10:00AM-1:00PM Chris King Session 1: September 1-October 6 Courtney Hoelscher Session 2: October 27-December 7 This beginning wheel-throwing class is designed for adults that would like to experience throwing on the wheel. During this beginners only class, students will learn to wedge, center, pull-up and form on the wheel. The last two weeks of class will focus on glazing and firing techniques. Tools and clay will be provided. Please note: studio privileges (working outside of class time in the studio) are only available when the add on is purchased.

During this teen only class, students will learn to wedge, center, pull-up and form on the wheel. The last two weeks of class will focus on glazing and firing techniques. Tools and clay will be provided. Please note: studio privileges (working outside of class time in the studio) are not available. Scholarships available upon request- lmccoy@pewabic.org for more information WORKSHOPS AND SPECIAL EVENTS Workshop fee includes clay and one bisque firing, unless otherwise noted. Registration is required for all workshops unless otherwise noted. FRIDAY NIGHT OUT $45.00 per person Fridays, 6:00PM 9:00PM September 7 September 21 October 5 October 19 November 2 November 16 November 30 December 14 Begin your weekend in our studio with your friends and/or family creating objects with soft clay slabs. You will be surprised with what you can make with no clay experience! Make it your own private party and bring your own food and beverages. Age Range: 18+ years old. Participants make two objects each, a vase and/or luminary and a tile. All tools are supplied.
7 Education Catalogue RAKU PARTY Saturday, October 13 10:00AM-8:00PM $65.00 for 1 vessel $95.00 for 2 vessels Join Pewabic's Education Team for our annual Fall event! During this exciting hands-on experience you will select a vessel, glaze it and then we fire the piece before your eyes. At the end of your session, you will walk away with your own unique Raku piece. Proceeds made during this event go towards supporting Pewabic's education programs! -- Please note: No cash refunds are issued once classes have begun. Pewabic Education is under no obligation to reschedule classes that are cancelled upon the closure of the facility due to inclement weather. There is no guarantee that a make-up class will be offered. Classes will not be prorated to accommodate a missed class, nor will refunds be issued.
