The Art Center must receive your registration and tuition by August 27, 2018 Without exception, all fees must be paid in full before the start of the class or a $10 late fee will be charged! Registration form must be submitted along with tuition payment. Missed classes will not be carried over to the next session. Our per diem rate is $45 per class. Our rate for 6 classes is now $230. Refunds are given only when ACNNJ cancels a class. We accept cash, checks or credit cards! ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP FEES: Membership is required for all students and will be renewed in Sept. for the year Children-$20 Teens-$25 Seniors (65+)-$30 Adults-$35 Family-$50 Funding has been made possible by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State through grant funds administered by the Bergen County Department of Parks, Division of Cultural and Historic Affairs.

2 Session I Fall 2018 WORKSHOPS JEWELRY WORKSHOP with Leslie Shanken Saturday & Sunday October 20 & 21 (1:00-4:00) $80 for the 2 sessions. Learn to bead a bracelet and earrings. Registrants will receive a supply list. COLLAGE WORKSHOP with Herrat Sommerhoff Thursday, October 4 (6:00-9:00pm) -$45 Materials and light refreshments included. All levels. RECYCLE, REPURPOSE, PAINT with Herrat Sommerhoff Saturday, November 10 (10:00am -3:00pm) $75 Materials will be provided, wear a smock, bring lunch and take home a beautiful sculpture. Everything else will be provided, including light refreshments! MONDAY WATERCOLOR-BEGINNER TO EXPERIENCED BEGINNER with Peggy Dressel 11 wks starting September 17 (9:30am-12:15pm) $365 For anyone who wants to learn to paint watercolors. Color theory, value, paint mixing and basic techniques. Demo at each class. PAINTING AND DRAWING-LANDSCAPE, FIGURE, STILL LIFE with Cesar Jerez 11 wks starting September 17 (9:30am-12:30pm) $365 Working from photos to create landscape, still life, or figure. Get a better understanding of color, value relation, form and massing, composition and design elements. We will cover basic to advanced principles. SCULPTURE-STONE with Natalie Frier 11 wks starting September 17 (10:00am-1:00pm) $365 Find the joy and excitement in carving a form in stone in a congenial atmosphere. Non-representational as well as figurative methods will be taught with the emphasis on creating three-dimensional shapes. All levels of ability are welcome.

3 DRAWING AND PASTELS with Peggy Dressel 11 wks starting 17 September (1:00pm-4:00pm) $365 Learn to do beautiful pastel paintings. Use pastels alone or create new, unique looks by combining with watercolor or acrylic. Drawing, color and composition will be covered. Subject matter: portrait, figure, still life and landscape. TUESDAY THE CREATIVE PROCESS with Maud Guilfoyle 12 wks starting September 11 (9:15am-12:15pm) $395 Principles of composition, color, form and space. All media are explored, augmented by class discussion. SCULPTURE STONE with Natalie Frier 12 wks starting September 11 (10:00am-1:00pm) $395 - All Day (10:00am-2:00pm) $420 See Monday for description. ALLA PRIMA PORTRAITURE OIL PAINTING with Joel Mitnick 11 wks starting September 17 (6:30pm-9:30pm) $395 Learn the steps to painting realistic portraiture in a single session, wet into wet. Working from a live model, students learn how to start a portrait using a tonal underpainting and observational drawing. Moving forward, the students capture the likeness and essence of the model, by exploring light and shadow, correct values, and color. Each student s personal style and direction is encouraged. Demonstration and individual instruction for all levels. WEDNESDAY DYNAMIC FIGURE DRAWING with Cesar Jerez 11 wks starting September 12 (9:30am-12:30pm) $365 While drawing the model, explore the elements common to all good drawing movement, proportion, structure, line and form. Learn to conceptualize the complex forms of the body as simple groups of masses and sub-masses. Individual critiques and lectures.

4 PAINTING with César Jerez 11wks starting September 12 (1:00pm-4:00pm) $365 Using the still life and model to focus on basic painting principles of massing, value relationships, color and design. Instruction geared to student s individual skill level. Note: Special discount if you sign up for any 2 sessions of César s classes $570 CLASSICAL AND MODERN OIL PAINTING TECHNIQUES with Max Horbund assisted by Aiko Aoyagi 11wks starting September 12 (6:30pm-9:30pm) $365 Instruction and coaching of classical realism techniques as well as the path to creating partial to total abstractions based on references and imagination. The use of each artist s impressions from their senses in their painting process in encouraged. Our One Room Schoolhouse environment benefits both newer and experienced artists. Still life and graphic references are available or supplied by students. Emphasis is on oil painting basic concepts of composition, form, value, color, line, and space. Lectures and class discussion about painting technique and history, demos and easel critique are regular features. FIGURE IN CLAY with Jungeun Sung 11 wks starting September 12 (6:30pm-9:30pm) $365 (material fee additional) Explore the human form using various ceramic sculpture techniques. Class will be focused on developing an understanding of sculptural language. Works can be fired in the kiln at a later time. INTERMEDIATE AND ADVANCED WATERCOLOR with Christine Friedman 12 wks starting September 13 (10:00am-1:00pm) $395 Develop your own style in this exciting spontaneous medium. Classes stress the importance of design, composition, value studies and color theory. Personal assistance, drawing instruction, demos and individual critiques weekly.

Covey $405 (includes $10 solvent fee) Per Diem all day $55 This class covers advanced techniques of all contemporary printmaking including intaglio, polymer and solar photo etching, mono-print, relief, lithography, collography, photo polyester and Fuji photo lithography and digital photo transfers. ALL LEVELS WELCOME! B.Y.O.B. (Bring Your Own Brushes) PORTRAITURE & STILL LIFE/ OIL PAINTING with Joel Mitnick 12 wks starting September 13 (1:30-4:30pm) $395. Alternating between portraiture and still life, students will learn to do realistic oil painting. Emphasis will focus on starting the composition, exploring form, tonal values, color and the use of light and shadow. The student s personal style and direction is encouraged. All levels welcome. *NEW* PHOTOGRAPHIC LIGHTING AND DESIGN with Jim Collier 12 wks starting September 13 (6:30pm-9:30pm) $395 Learn studio techniques using both tungsten lights, studio strobe lighting and on camera flash for creative portraits, still life, and graphic design imaging. Use your digital camera and tripod, with studio lights and light modifiers, your props and subjects to achieve dynamic images for your portfolio. The photo-editing program used will be Adobe LIGHTROOM and some PHOTOSHOP tools. FRIDAY MONITORED LIFE DRAWING/PAINTING with George Lutz/Geoffrey Browne 12 wks starting September 14 (9:30am-12:30pm) $200 or $20 per diem ACNNJ students enrolled in one full class pay only $15 per week.

6 CONTEMPORARY PRINTMAKING: AN INTRODUCTION with Tai Hwa Goh 12 wks starting September 14 (9:30am-12:30pm) $405 (includes $10 solvent fee) Learn the basics of contemporary printmaking. Materials will be provided to absolute beginners along with individual attention to each student. Students are encouraged to try many methods until they find one most appealing to their artistic sensibilities. SUNDAY MOSTLY BOBBIE: MONITORED FIGURE PAINTING with Bobbie Golden 12 wks starting September 16 (10:00am-1:00pm) $185 or $20 per diem. ACNNJ students enrolled in one full class pay only $15 per week. CHILDREN AND TEEN CLASSES (Ages 3-15+) MONDAY LET S MAKE MARKS (ages 9-12) with Dianna Mammone 11 wks starting September 17 - December 3 (3:45pm-5:30pm) $220. This class focuses on the way artists communicate with marks. Using sketching, doodling, storyboards, expressive lines with pencils, and more--we will explore them all - fun way to learn more about art and artists while DOING art! TUESDAY ADVANCED DRAWING AND PAINTING (ages 10-14) with Candi Feinberg 12 wks starting September 11 - December 4 (4:00pm-6:00pm) $240 Draw and paint from observation. Structured for students with an art background. PORTFOLIO DEVELOPMENT (ages 15+) with Candi Feinberg 12 wks starting September 11 - December 4 (6:00pm-8:00pm) $300 Develop drawing and painting skills. Includes figure drawing from quick poses to longer, as well as studies of hands and feet. Students develop a visual arts portfolio aiming toward a career in the arts. Individual and class projects.
