METAL FRAMING WALL+ FRAMING CONFIGURATION
Framing Configuration Framing Configuration definition of all framing parameters. It allows to configure and save settings for all sorts of frames main wall Frames and Secondary Frames. It is very versatile tool with thousands of different possibilities. 2
Framing Configuration Framing Configuration dialog is divided into four main parts: Top, Left, Center and Right. In Top part choose Configuration Type which you want to use and Configuration Name which you want to modify. Left part lets you select framing type going from bottom. TOP LEFT CENTER RIGHT Center part the settings. Right part shows a picture of the part you modify. 3
Framing Configuration Material Class defines material. Wood Framing Wall+ uses Wood and Metal Framing Wall+ uses Steel Configuration Type choose type of framing you want to configure. Possible options Frame and Secondary Frame 4
Framing Configuration Configuration Name configuration with all framing settings. You can use a sample or create new configurations. Moreover, you can rename or delete existing configurations. Wall+M framing configurations are saved in C:\Users\user name\appdata\roaming\tools 4 Revit\Wall+M2015 Configurations catalogue. The content from this catalogue can be copied to other users computer if needed. 5
Framing Configuration One framing configuration contains a catalogue and XML file under the same name: 6
Common Settings Use for all Framing Elements (except Openings) if ticked then selected stud and plate families will be used for other framing elements, like connections, bridgings, noggings etc. without an option to change it to the custom family Main Type of Studs (or Plates) select a family for the Studs or Plate. The sample families are: For C+C system M_MF C+C Stud and M_MF C+C Plate For C+C Chamfered system M_MF C+C_CH Stud and M_MF C+C_CH Plate For C+U system M_MF Stud-Joist and M_MF Track Width (b) shows the width, b parameter value from selected family type Depth (h, d) shows the depth, h or d parameter value from selected family type Define Depth (h, d) by Layer Thickness the software finds the frame family type with depth which fits the wall layer thickness. Wall Frame Panels if ticked then wall frames are assembled in manufactory, if not ticked assembled in-place 7
Common Settings Define Depth (h, d) by Layer Thickness If you get such message after trying to frame a wall using Fame Wall: It means that Define Depth (h, d) by Layer Thickness setting is ticked and the software can t find suitable type in the stud or plate family. Metal stud must have a type which parameter d Depth must be equal to core layer depth. Note: There must be set a good rounding of depth of wall layer. Imperial profiles have depth inch 3 numbers after comma. 3/8 = 0, /8 = 0, /8 = 0, Sample families do not include all possible types. Link to the blog post: 8

Details on Bridging/Nogging/Blocking Type select detail family and type that will be used Insert Details framing can be made with or without these elements. Choose based on your preference Rotate 90, 180 if ticked then rotates detail by 90 or/and 180 degrees. Rotation deepens on how the family is created Offset from Stud Side detail insertion placement: from stud to right, left, left and right or between two studs, on solid face or open face Offset distance between detail and a stud 63
Details on Bridging/Nogging/Blocking Detail on Studs Open Face Detail on Studs Solid Face 64
Details on Bridging/Nogging/Blocking Measure from Location Line if ticked then the distance for detail placement will be calculated from the Bridging/Nogging/Blocking location line Measure from Stud Web Faces if ticked then the distance for detail placement will be calculated from stud web faces 65
Details on Bridging/Nogging/Blocking Location settings predefine detail position on top or bottom faces of planes, bridgings, noggings, headers, sills etc. Include Opening if ticked then the details will be inserted into elements above and below the openings 66
Details on Bridging/Nogging/Blocking Min. Distance between Studs define the distance between studs where details will be inserted. In such case you will eliminate detail placements between studs that are very close to each other Include Details to Update after update process the details will stay Add Details if Element is Crossing Stud, Add Details if Stud is Crossing Element, Add Details for L Connections additional rules for placing details 67
Details on Stud Details on Stud allows distributing any details on the stud. You can very easily predefine different insertion rules up to 4 detail families For example, void family is added automatically in the connection between stud and a nogging to cut a stud with predefined distance: 68
Stud Holes Stud Holes distributes service holes on studs For example, two service holes are distributed from the bottom with predefined offset and spacing 69
