1 METAL FRAMING WALL+ FEATURES

2 Load Families &Schedules Load Families & Schedules loads sample schedules, sample framing and connection families to the current project. You can find the families in Project Browser Families, under Structural Connections and Structural Framing categories. Sample schedules can be found under Schedules/Quantities in Project Browser. Note: User can modify those schedules and use them as templates for making shop drawings. 2

3 Framing Configuration Framing Configuration define all framing settings. It allows user to configure and save settings for all sorts of frames main wall Frames and Secondary Frames. It is very versatile with thousands of different possibilities. 3

4 Wall Link Wall Link makes a link between wall type from the project and configuration. Choose the wall type you want to link and apply framing configuration to the layers. 4

5 Frame Wall Frame Wall frames selected walls from the model according to predefined configuration. 5

6 Update Frame Update Frame updates the frame if there are any changes made to a wall, e.g. window was moved, or wall extended. Select a wall, window, door or any frame from the wall: 6

7 Add Secondary Frame Add Secondary Frame adds secondary frame to selected walls. Secondary Frame layer needs to be predefined using Wall Link: 7

8 Add Details/Update Details Add Details/Update Details function for placing details in the end of framing process. Recommended workflow: create frame without details; add additional elements; split elements if needed; and in the final step - add details. This will allow to save time in updating process when you frame a wall. 8

9 Add Details/Update Details User can predefine the details in Framing Configuration, but during the framing process the details will be not added if Use Add Details command will be selected: 9

10 Add Bracing between Studs\Plates Add Bracing between Studs\Plates adds bracing between two studs\plates you choose. To configure settings go to Framing Configuration select configuration you use in the wall Bracing. 10

11 Add Bracing between Studs\Plates Select bottom plate and then middle plate to show bracing ends 2 2 Select middle plate and then top plate to show bracing ends

12 Add Strapping Bracing (external or internal side) Add Strapping Bracing (external or internal side) adds bracing between two studs\plates you choose to external or internal side of framing. To configure settings go to Framing Configuration select configuration you use in the wall Bracing. 12

14 Add Strapping Bracing (external or internal side) Sample with strapping bracing from external and internal sides: I_MF Strap family has instance Connection Type parameter which allows to add Gusset plate: You can use any other custom connection family if needed. 14

15 Add Additional Bridging/Nogging/Blocking Add Additional Bridging/Nogging/Blocking adds additional bridging/nogging/blocking between two selected studs. 1 2 Select two studs predefine the offset from wall top or bottom 15

16 Add Additional Stud Add Additional Stud adds additional stud with offset from any selected stud or wall end. Select a stud predefine the offset from the stud or wall ends 16

17 Add Additional Support Stud Add Additional Stud adds additional support stud between selected plates. Select two plates predefine the offset from the wall end 17

18 Delete Additional Elements Delete Additional Elements deletes additional elements which were added before. Also you can delete it by ticking Delete through Modify Additional Element: 18

19 Add/Delete Details Add or Delete Additional Details distributes details on the plates and studs according predefined rules. Select a stud predefine the detail family, offset, spacing, location and amount of details. 19

20 Add/Delete Details Sample with 3 hole details on the stud face. Detail families can be modified if needed. 20

21 Manage Walls Manage Walls shows information about walls in a convenient dialog window. Every wall is displayed in a separate row and indicated by color. On the right side you can see the color legend. After selection in the dialog you will see this selection in the project. Also, you can easily filter the walls in the tree on the left side. 21

22 Delete Frame Delete Frame deletes selected framing. You just need to select one frame and the tool will delete the whole frame from the wall. 22

23 Align Studs with Main Frame Align Studs with Main Frame use it if secondary frame studs have to be aligned with main frame studs. Select any stud from the secondary frame and it will aligned. 23

24 Align Studs with Other Element Align Studs with Other Element aligns studs with trusses, truss system grids or studs from other frames. 24

25 Align Studs with Other Element Steps: 1. Run Align Studs with Other Element Select any Structural Framing element (for example, truss bottom chord or element from Truss System Grid) 2. Select a stud from the frame that has to be aligned 1 OR

27 Align Studs with Two Other Elements Align Studs with Two Other Elements aligns studs with two selected trusses, truss system grids or studs from other frames 27

28 Align Studs with Two Other Elements Steps: 1. Run Align Studs with Two Other Elements select two Structural Framing elements (for example, truss top chord or two elements from Truss System Grid): 2. Select a stud that has to be aligned: 28

29 Align Studs with Two Other Elements Result all studs from the frame are aligned 29

30 Align Opening Cripples with Studs Align Opening Cripples with Studs aligns opening cripples with trusses, truss system grids or studs from other frames. 30

31 Align Opening Cripples with Studs Steps: 1. Run Align Opening Cripples with Studs 2. Select any cripple above the opening Result all cripples above the opening are aligned 31

32 Clear Opening Cripples Alignment with Studs Clear Opening Cripples Alignment with Studs returns alignment of cripples to default. 32

33 Modify Wall Framing Modify Wall Framing modifies selected wall framing with custom settings if you need to make unique changes. All configuration settings are the same as in Framing Configuration. 33

34 Modify Opening Framing Modify Opening Framing modifies selected opening framing with custom settings if you need to make unique changes. All configuration settings are the same as in Framing Configuration. 34

35 Modify Wall Join Framing Modify Wall Join Framing modifies selected join with custom settings if you need to make unique changes. All configuration settings are the same as in Framing Configuration. 35

36 Modify Wall Join Framing When modifying joins please pay attention to stud you are selecting. The tool will recognize whether the corner is outer or inner and give you different options in modification dialog to modify Butt (B) or L corner: 36

37 Modify Additional Element Modify Additional Element modifies selected additional element with custom settings if you need to do unique changes. All configuration settings are the same as in Framing Configuration. 37

38 Update Framing/Opening by Wall Link Update Framing/Opening by Wall Link reframes frame or selected opening to the default that is configured under Framing Configuration. 38

39 Save Configuration w/o Openings Save Configuration w/o Openings saves configuration of selected frame without settings for openings. This feature is very useful if you have already framed a wall and lost configuration that was used for this wall. Configuration is required to frame new walls. 39

40 Save Configuration w/o Openings You just need to select any frame from a wall and save configuration under your desired name: Now you will be able to use this configuration for new or existing walls: 40
