2 The Rotary Club of Kidman Park Inc. From President Warren Ola Kidman Parkers Some snippets about the past week and looking forward in the short term... It seems that the "Guess who is coming to the BBQ" was a resounding success. We had good fun over Ron and Jenny's home. Shame that the boys were quite embarrassed by losing in Bocce to the girls. I am sure the boys can get over it...with extensive counselling and therapy. What a great human interest experience shared with our meeting last Tuesday night by our Liz Foote. Super outcome after years of persistence. If you were not along ask Liz to share it with you. While talking about last Tuesday, we had a focus on moving away from what may be our regular Tuesday table. It led to several differences in the evening...if you have some feedback, then please me. What we are addressing is the perception (or reality) of cliques within our membership in what we do and how we do it. It is not an easy thing for recent members and our visitors to deal with. Remember from my article last week, that younger members concerns with Rotary to the extent of 85% are linked to Meetings Rotary Conference is from Friday to Sunday this week at Tanunda. Attendees from KPR are Tiggemanns, Simpsons, Kings, Hudsons and Hobbs'. We are all out together for tucker tomorrow night at Weintal Garden Restaurant...some great speakers and topics and the Saturday night Dinner should be a great night. There are 350 Registrants...testimony to the work done by the Conference Committee which included our Kidman Parkers... "when you get the choice to sit it out or dance...i hope you dance" President Warren Hobbs Tiggy. I know how much work it is as I was Conference Chair 2 years ago as was Simmo a few years before that. It is all worth it after the occasion is successful. They are great events and fantastic for bringing many diverse clubs and Rotarians together. As a guide, I am delighted to be catching up with one of my Rotary pals Sandy Sumsion from Roxby Downs. The Trustees of the Charitable Trust of KPR had a meeting last Tuesday night. Our members will be updated on decisions and outcomes next week. Try not to think about the amount of fun that you could have had at the Conference...you could also get counselling for that. Irrespective, have a great weekend. 3 Club News: The Rotary Club of Kidman Park Inc. Mock Interviews at Nazareth College: The Club has been approached to participate again in mock interviews for students at Nazareth College. The Date is Monday April 11th. More details will be provided soon, but please consider if you are able to help. It can be a very rewarding experience. Volunteers needed for Carousel Roster: The Dates are Saturday Sunday April 2nd April 3rd The Shift Times are am pm 2.00 pm pm There ISNT a late shift Membership: Membership Director David Simpson seeking help from Club Members to provide names and contact details for people who could be invited to a Club information night. David with the details. A formal invitation from President Warren Hobbs will be sent to the prospects. Antiques Roadshow Guest Speaker. Those of you who read the Upcoming Events and Guest Speakers would be aware the Guest Speaker previously listed for March 29th was Jason Harris from Scammels Auctioneers. There has been quite a bit interest generated for this night so the club has decided to: - shift the date back by one week to April 5th to avoid the clash with Easter long weekend and allow more members /partners to attend. To make it a Partners night. The plan is to encourage some members to bring some interesting items along for Jason Harris to assess and value and also run a competition so members put their own skills to the test. The winner will be judged as being the one closest to your total valuation. A Round Robin will be circulated next week to help get a indication of how many will be attending - and to help West Beach Lifesaving Club with Catering. If you want to attend but miss next week s meeting you can help by ing David Lindsay to advise your intention to attend. David is the Chairperson for the evening. Please Note: The meeting may run a little longer than usual. The Club Committee s Meetings originally scheduled for April 5th have been brought forward to March 29th to accommodate the change for thew Antiques Roadshow event. A new directive from Rotary District 9500 requires all Rotarians and their Partners who participate in projects with at risk individuals / groups to have a Police Clearance. Liz Foote is the Club s Protection Officer. The role includes citing and recording the Member s Police clearance. If you have not yet completed and lodged the Application, it is suggested that you do so as soon as possible as it currently takes a considerable amount of time due to the high numbers of applications being processed.
