3 The Great Ogopogo Bathtub Race on August 20, Come and join the festivities and help SYC raise money for the South Okanagan-Similkameen Medical Foundation to equip the Regional Hospital Tower Project. Annual SADI Fundraising Dinner and Auction A full house enjoyed Zias culinary presentation, Auctioneer Roch conducted the Live Auction, Chantelle wins the $ 50/50, and a young helper clears the guests tables. $9000 was raised from this event.
4 Rotarian Choice: Member of the Month Chantelle Meriam Chantell into her second year with our club, has been keeping the Facebook site current, organising the monthly Friday socials, and The Pioneer Tea.
5 President - elect Preston presented his Rotary moment, his topic: Why are you a Rotarian? This gave us time to reflect on the question. Jason and Mathias related to their recent trip to Belize and the Bird Branding Project. A very insightful look at the importance of the study both abroad and in our region. Their local initiatives will gain momentum as they continue to become more involved with birders in the South Okanagan... Erik Thompson President of the Chamber of Commerce was our guest speaker, he covered a variety of topics relating to the potential growth and development of our town, we wish him well in his new role!
6 Michael presents another $3000 cheque from his coffee machine revenue, as you can see, he is very serious about his on - going contributions to our club Kim Wise receives our contribution to support the SSS School Wellness Program. Kim had previously visited our club to tell us about the school initiative. May 03 Spousal Dinner Our annual Wine & Cheese Meals on Wheels recognition, a cross section of our community, giving their time and vehicles to provide meals to the elderly. Thankyou from the Summerland Rotary Club
7 Egehan gave us an exceptional tour of Turkey, his family, culture, history and vistas. Bob Van B trades club banners as has been a tradition with our exchange students. We wish you great success Egehan, as you complete your year with us, it has been fun! President Elect Preston thanks Barry Dean for his presentation on partnering plans for Bangladesh John K. bought 50/50 tickets for each of our Royalty guests, Emma thought the photo would bring her luck, she really needs the funds for her up-coming exchange
