With a resoution of 60,000 digits and more than 35 different measuring functions, it s been deveoped for professiona use. Features Power and Energy Measurement The METRAHIT ENERGY is a compact power meter for direct and aternating current in singe-phase systems. The eectrica circuit can be connected either directy, or via a current transformer. If a current transformer is connected to the mutimeter (ma/a input), a current and power dispays are represented with the correct vaue based upon the seected transformation ratio. Universa power measurement incudes the foowing measuring functions: active, reactive and apparent power, power factor and energy. Beyond this, the mean power vaue can be generated over a specified time period (e.g. 15 min.), and the corresponding maximum vaue can be recorded aong with time of occurrence. Suitabe AC current transformers with current output are isted on page 10. Systematic Votage Quaity Anaysis The METRAHIT ENERGY is equipped with a function for acquiring and recording power disturbances which is unique amongst the handhed mutimeters. It aows for simutaneous, continuous recording of votage characteristics and event-triggered recording of the foowing disturbances: Under and overvotage with start time, duration and extreme vaue Under and overvotage of the haf-period RMS vaue (dips and swes) with start time, as we as min. and max. vaues Momentariy exceeded vaues with a duration of greater than 1 ms (peak) with time of occurrence and maximum vaue Steep transients with a rise time of 0.5 to 5 ms within a range of 200 to 1000 V incuding time of occurrence, reative votage vaue and the previous 1 ms instantaneous vaue Harmonic Anaysis In the and current measurement (A) switch positions, harmonic anaysis is performed approximatey once per second using 32 samping vaues per mains period (adjustabe to 16.7, 50, 60 or 400 Hz). FFT (fast Fourier transformation) makes osciations up to the 15 th harmonic avaiabe to this end. These are used to cacuate the RMS vaues of the fundamenta harmonic (HD 1) and the individua higher harmonics (HD ), as we as tota harmonic distortion (THD). RMS vaues and harmonic components are dispayed in each case (RMS vaues reative to the RMS vaue of the fundamenta harmonic). Harmonic anaysis is aso avaiabe for current camp measurement. 2 TRMS SYSTEM Mutimeter Convenient Tripe Dispay The momentary measured vaue and up to two additiona vaues are dispayed simutaneousy, for exampe: Extreme vaue with date and time Frequency and RMS vaue of AC measuring votage Or in the case of power measurement: Momentary measured vaues of active power, votage and current Maximum vaue for periodic power with date and time User Safety and Overoad Protection Dangerous aternating contact votages of greater then 30 V and direct votages of greater than 35 V are indicated visuay. Overoad protection safeguards the instrument in a measuring functions for up to 600 V. Votages of greater than 600 V and currents of greater than 10 or 16 A are indicated acousticay. Dangerous contact votages are indicated when the 1 khz ow-pass fiter has been activated. FUSE appears at the dispay if the fuse for the current measuring input bows. Switching between high and ow impedance measuring functions is disabed in the vent of dangerous contact votage. Three Connector Jacks with Automatic Bocking Sockets (ABS) * A current ranges are impemented via a singe connector jack which prevents any possibiity of operator error. Auto-ranging is avaiabe in a current measuring ranges. Beyond this, the automatic bocking sockets prevent incorrect connection of the measurement cabes, as we as seection of the wrong measured quantity. Danger to the user, the instrument and the device under test resuting from operator error is thus rued out. Exceptions incude switch positions W, Wh and A. * Patented (patent no. DE , US 7,439,725) RMS Vaue with Distorted Waveshape The utiized measuring method aows for waveshape independent RMS measurement (TRMS AC and AC+DC) for votage up to 100 khz and current (up to 10 khz and up to CF = 10). Activatabe Fiter for V AC Measurement A 1 khz ow-pass fiter can be activated if required, for exampe when measuring motor votage at eectronic frequency converters. The input signa is checked by a votage comparator for dangerous votages as ong as the ow-pass fiter is activated. A highvotage symbo appears at the dispay if dangerous votage is present. Measuring of 5 V Square-Wave Signas This function makes it possibe to test circuits and transmission cabes by measuring the frequency and the duty cyce of puses with ampitudes of 2 to 5 V and frequencies of 1 Hz to 1 MHz. Fast Acoustic Continuity Test Testing for short circuiting and interruption is possibe with the seector switch in the position. The threshod vaue for acoustic signaing can be set to 1, 10, in 10 ohm steps. Automatic / Manua Measuring Range Seection Measured quantities are seected by means of a rotary switch and a function key. The measuring range is automaticay matched to the measured vaues. The measuring range can aso be seected and ocked manuay with a key. Peak Vaue Monitoring for Automatic and Manua Measuring Range Seection The peak vaue is measured in addition to RMS measurement in the V / A DC, AC and AC+D functions, as we as for power measurement. If the peak vaue exceeds the vaid range of the corresponding measuring path, the instrument is switched up one range, even if the dispayed RMS measured vaue has not yet reached the threshod vaue. If the momentary measuring range is manuay ocked, ( )OL appears to indicate the peak vaue. This assures that measurement ony takes pace in the permissibe range for these functions (e.g. during measurement of a signa with a high crest factor or measurement of the DC component of high AC+DC votages). Measurement with Current Transformer Camps and Sensors Current transformer camps and sensors are used for current measurements without interrupting the circuit under test, and for high amperages (> 16 A). A E series mutimeters offer convenient measurement with current camps. The measured current vaue is automaticay cacuated for the user with the hep of the adjustabe camp factor. Automatic Storage of Measured Vaues * The DATA function automaticay saves the digitay dispayed measured vaue after setting in. Acoustic signaing is aso used to indicate whether the new measured vaue deviates from the initia reference vaue ess or more than 0.1% of the measuring range. * Patented Storage of Min-Max Vaues Comparabe to the save-pointer function of an anaog instrument, the device saves the highest and owest measured vaues after the Min-Max function has been activated or reset. These extreme vaues and their time stamps can be queried at the dispay. Memory Mode Operation The METRAHIT ENERGY is equipped with a quartz-movement synchronized measurement data memory (2048 kb), which has enough capacity for up to 300,000 measured vaues depending upon configuration. This aows for use of the instrument as an autonomous rea-time data ogger. Measurement data recording is executed either: In a time controed fashion with an adjustabe samping interva within a range of 0.5 ms (for V/A DC ony) to 9 hours Dependent upon measured vaue in the event of exceeded imit/deta vaue Automaticay after stabiization of the measuring vaue As an individua measured vaue by pressing a key Memory content can be read out from a PC with the hep of the USB X-TRA adapter, as we as anayzed and documented with METRAwin 10 evauation software. 2 GMC-I Messtechnik GmbH

3 TRMS SYSTEM Mutimeter Battery Charging Status Power Saving Circuit The battery charging status is indicated by means of four symbos. The device is switched off automaticay if the measured vaue remains unchanged for a period of between 10 and 59 minutes (adjustabe), and if none of the contros are activated during this time (automatic shutdown is deactivated for power and energy measurement as we as for power quaity anaysis). Automatic shutdown can be disabed by switching the instrument to continuous operation. The standby mode for the infrared interface can be deactivated. Protective Cover for Harsh Conditions The instrument is protected against damage in the event of impacts or dropping by means of a soft rubber cover with tit stand and test probe hoder. The rubber materia aso assures that the instrument does not wander if it is set up on a vibrating surface. Infrared Data Interface The device can be remote configured, and momentary and saved measurement data can be read out via the bidirectiona infrared interface. The USB X-TRA interface adapter and METRAwin 10 software are required to this end (see accessories). An interface protoco and device drivers for LabVIEW (Nationa Instruments ) are avaiabe upon request. DAkkS Caibration Certificate Each mutimeter is individuay adjusted, subjected to fina inspection and caibrated. Adherence to the specification is confirmed by means of the incuded DAkkS caibration certificate, which is vaid wordwide (recognized by EA and ILAC). After the specified caibration interva has eapsed (recommended interva: 1 to 3 years), the mutimeters can be recaibrated at any time in our own DAkkS caibration aboratory.
