APC electronc pressure transmtters and APR , APR electronc dfferental pressure transmtters work by convertng changes n the resstance of a pezoresstant brdge, whch are proportonal to the pressure dfference beng measured, nto a standard current sgnal. The actve sensng element s a slcon daphragm wth n-dffused pezoresstors, separated from the medum by a sealng daphragm and manometrc flud.

C1 11 DTR.APC.APR.FROFIBUS.02(ENG) 6.2. Constructon. The man components of the smart pressure transmtter are the sensng module, n whch the pressure sgnal s converted nto a non-unformzed sgnal, and the electronc system, whch converts the sgnal from the sensng module nto a PROFIBUS PA output sgnal In the APC transmtters the pressure connectors may be attached to the sensng module as n fg.5a, 6a, 7a, 8 and other. They are equpped wth a daphragm separatng the nternal part of the head from the medum In the APR transmtters, the sensng module has two P-type connectors, or C-type connectng covers for nstallaton on a valve manfold (fg.9) For measurng the pressure of dense, chemcally reactve or hot meda, the transmtter may be addtonally ftted wth varous types of daphragm seal dependng on the type of medum and the condtons n whch measurement s carred out (see catalogue cards Daphragm Seals). The daphragm seal transmts the pressure obtaned from the medum. The pressure s transmtted va a manometrc flud whch flls the space between the daphragm of the seal and the daphragm of the sensng module. In the case of remote daphragm seals, pressure s transmtted va a capllary lnkng the transmtter s sensng module to the daphragm seal. The constructon of the seals depends on the medum propertes and operatng condtons for whch they are ntended. Techncal data relatng to the daphragm seals dmensons and operatng condtons can be found n catalogue cards DIAPHRAGM SEALS The APR transmtters may be ftted wth an sngle drect daphragm seal, mounted on the + pressure nput of the sensng module, whle the nput s a ¼NPT socket (fg.10). The APR transmtter s ftted wth two daphragm seals and can be produced n two versons: - wth one drect daphragm seal and one remote daphragm seal (fg.15); - wth two remote daphragm seals (fg.14) Casng, Electrcal Connectons The APC , APR , APR transmtters have a casng made from hgh-pressure cast of alumnum alloy, gvng o IP-65 protecton. The housng s provded wth two screwed-on covers: one closed wth a cavty and a feeder box, the other cover can have a glass allowng to use a pont dsplay, the dsplay has a 90 turnng angle, the turn of the housng n relaton to the sensor from 0 to 355, the drecton of the cable nput can be chosen The transmtter s provded wth a bult-n LCD dsplay. Usng the specfc manufacturer s commands t s possble to perform the followng operatons on the dsplay: dsplay the output value n percents or n the user s unts (n accordance wth the current confguraton,.e. range, suppresson, converson curve), rotate the dsplayed values by 180 normal dsplay and dsplay n the negatve. adjust brghtness change the poston of the decmal pont The LCD dsplay ncludes a graphc dsplay allowng to llustrate the measured value n percentage of the set output range. The not ntrnsc-safe versons of transmtters APC , APR , APR are provded wth a dsplay wth addtonal hghlghtng functon. The functon can be swtch ON and OFF by the user usng swtch no. 1 on the dsplay panel. ON poston means that the hghlght functon s OFF. 7. PLACE OF INSTALLATION OF TRANSMITTERS 7.1. General recommendatons The smart pressure transmtter and dfferental pressure transmtter can be nstalled both ndoors and outdoors. It s recommended that transmtters ntended for outdoor use be placed n a box or under cover The place of nstallaton should be chosen n such a way as to allow access to the devce and to protect t from mechancal damage. In plannng the nstallaton of the transmtter and confguraton of the mpulse lnes, attenton should be pad to the followng requrements: - The mpulse lnes should be as short as possble, wth a suffcently large cross-secton, and free of sharp bends, n order to prevent blockages;

C1 12 DTR.APC.APR.FROFIBUS.02(ENG) - Where the medum s a gas, the transmtters should be nstalled above the measurng pont, so that condensaton flows down towards the ste of the pressure measurement; where the medum s a lqud or where a protectve lqud s used, the transmtters should be nstalled below the place where the pressure measurement s taken; - The mpulse lnes should be nclned at a gradent of at least 10cm/m; - The levels of fllng lqud n the mpulse lnes should be equal or kept constant dfference, - The confguraton of the mpulse lnes and the valve connecton system should be chosen wth regard to the measurement condtons and to requrements such as the need to reset the transmtters n poston and the need for access to the mpulse lnes durng water or gas removal and flushng Where there s a rsk of heavy objects httng the nstrument (resultng, n extreme cases, n a part of the system wth transducers beng torn off and medum leakage), approprate means of protecton should be appled for safety reasons and to avod the possblty of sparklng or other, more approprate locaton should be selected for the transmtter Attenton should also be pad to possble nstallaton faults whch may lead to measurement errors, such as connectons whch are not tght, sedment blockage n lnes whch are too narrow, gas bubbles n a lqud lne or lqud column n a gas lne etc Low Ambent Temperature. When the soldfcaton pont of the lqud whose pressure s beng measured s greater than the ambent temperature, steps should be taken to protect the measurement apparatus from freezng effects. Ths s partcularly mportant n the case open-ar nstallatons. Protecton s obtaned by fllng the mpulse lnes wth a mxture of ethylene glycol and water, or another lqud whose soldfcaton pont does not exceed the ambent temperature. Thermal nsulaton can protect the casng of the transmtter and lnes only from bref exposure to low temperatures. Where the temperature s very low, the transmtter and mpulse lnes are should be heated Hgh Medum Temperature. The APC..., APR... transmtters may be used to measure meda wth temperatures of up to 120 C. To protect the sensng module from temperatures n excess of 120ºC, sutably long mpulse lnes are used to dsperse the heat and to lower the temperature of the module. Where t s not possble to use mpulse lnes of the requred length, APC , APR , APR transmtters wth remote daphragm seals should be used (see catalogue cards DIAPHRAGM SEALS ). For probes SG.PROFIBUS PA does not exceed meda's temperatures specfed n p Data as per Appendx Ex.PROFIBUS apply for the Ex verson (the temperature of the electronc subassembly cannot exceed +65 C) Mechancal Vbraton, Corrosve Meda The transmtter should be nstalled n a place whch s free of vbratons. If vbratons are carred to the transmtter va the mpulse lnes, use should be made of elastc lnes or a APC , APR , APR transmtters wth a remote daphragm seal Transmtters should not be nstalled n places where the daphragm, made of 316L steel 00H17N14M2), would be subject to corroson by the medum beng measured If possble, transmtters wth daphragms made of Hastelloy C276 should be used, or other means of protecton appled (e.g. n the form of a separatng lqud) or transmtters wth daphragm seals adapted for measurng aggressve medums accordng to catalogue cards DIAPHRAGM SEALS ) should be used. 8. INSTALLATION AND MECHANICAL CONNECTIONS The APC , APR , APR transmtters can operate n any poston. When nstalled on an object wth a hgh-temperature medum, t s advantageous to mount the transmtter n a horzontal poston wth the packng gland pontng downwards or to the sde, n such a way that the transmtter s kept away from the stream of rsng hot ar. When the measurement range s small, the readng can be affected by the poston of the transmtter and by the confguraton of the mpulse lnes and the way n whch they are flled wth lqud. Ths error can be corrected usng the zero-settng functon.

C1 13 DTR.APC.APR.FROFIBUS.02(ENG) 8.1. APC... Installaton and connectons The APC transmtters can be mounted drectly on rgd mpulse lnes. Where connectors are used as n fg.5a, 6a and 7a, t s recommended that connecton sockets be used as shown n fg.5b, 6b, 7b or 7c. It s recommended that sockets labeled Socket CG1 and Socket CG1/2 Fg.8 are used for CG1 and CG1/2 connectons, respectvely. Besdes, there are adapters for standard DIN50, (DIN40, DIN25, Clamp2, Clamp1,5, Clamp1 ) type connectons provded for readouts carred out n aseptc condtons usng transmtters wth CM30x2 connecton. There are seals provded for every transmtter wth P, CM30x2, CG1, CG1/2 and GP type connectons. The materal of the seal s selected based on the pressure value and the type and temperature of the medum If the pressure s appled va a flexble plastc tube, the transmtter should be mounted on a support wth Red Ø6-M reducton. In case of metal ppes, the used connectons should comply wth PN-82/M The types of the mpulse tubes (Fg.3) are to be selected dependng on the measured value of the pressure and the medum temperature Tghten the transmtter n the socket wth a torque approprate for the type of the used seal and the measured pressure The APC transmtter can be nstalled usng a unversal AL holder allowng to mount the transmtter n any poston on the support or a horzontal or vertcal ppe Ø35... Ø65 (Fg.4) APR... Installaton and connectons The APR 2000/XX PROFIBUS PA transmtters can be mounted drectly on rgd mpulse lnes. To connect the basc versons of transmtters, wth two M20 x 1.5 stubs (P-type connector), one can use (for example) straght connectng elements wth nuts (type C). If elastc mpulse lnes are used for connecton purposes, the transmtter should be addtonally fastened to a ppe, panel or supportng constructon The APR and APR can be nstalled usng the Fastener ø25 (fg.11.) on a ø25 ppe or on a flat surface usng an angle bracket The APR wth connectng cover (C-type connector) (fg.9) are desgned for nstallaton on 3-valve or 5-valve manfolds to a 2 ppe or to a flat surface usng an fastener C-2 (fg.12) or (fg.13). Pressure may be transmtted to the nstalled devce only after checkng that t has a measurement range whch properly corresponds to the value of the measured pressure, that gaskets have been properly selected and ftted, and the connector has been properly screwed tght. Attempts to undo the screws or fxng connector ppes on a transmtter under pressure may cause the medum to leak and create hazards for the personnel. When dsassemblng the transmtter, t s necessary to dsconnect t from the process pressure or brng the pressure to atmospherc level, and to take partcular care and precautons n case of meda whch are hghly reactve, caustc, explosve or otherwse hazardous to personnel. If necessary, rnse out ths part of the system. Transmtters wth flange daphragm seals are to be nstalled on the correspondng counterflanges on the faclty. It s recommended that the user matches the screw jonts materal to the pressure, temperature, flange materal and seal to ensure tghtness of the flange jont n the expected operatng condtons.. Coarse-threaded screws complyng wth ISO 261 are to be used for flanges used n the APC , APR , APR transmtters. Addtonal data concernng the daphragm seals are specfed n the catalogue cards DIAPHRAGM SEALS. 9. ELECTRICAL CONNECTION 9.1. General recommendatons It s recommended that twsted par cablng be used for the sgnal lnes. If the transmtter and sgnal lne are subject to a large amount of electromagnetc nterference, then screened twsted par cable should be used. The sgnal wres should not run alongsde network power supply cables or near to large electrcally-powered devces. The devces used together wth the transmtters should be resstant to electromagnetc nterference from the transmsson lne n accordance wth compatblty requrements. It s also benefcal to use ant-nterference flters on the prmary sde of the transformers, the power supples used for the transmtters and apparatus used n conjuncton wth them.

C1 14 DTR.APC.APR.FROFIBUS.02(ENG) Wet or damp nsde can cause the transmtter to fal. Where the solaton of the wres n the packng gland s neffectve (for example, when sngle wres are used) the openng of the gland should be carefully sealed wth an elastc sealng compound to obtan IP65 ngress protecton. It s useful to form the segment of the sgnal wre leadng to the M20x1,5 packng gland nto a protectve loop to prevent condensaton from runnng down n the drecton of the gland Electrcal connectons for APC..., APR... The transmtters should be connected as shown n fgure.1. The APC-2000 s two-wred transmtter wth PROFIBUS-PA output. Before connectng the devce be sure power supply s turned off. To connect devce to Profbus-PA network you should: turn off power supply unscrew the cover nsert the cables through the cable entry connect cables to the adequate termnals -P,+P (reversed polarty has no effect on operatons) connect the screen to the nternal termnal screw down the cover turn on power supply 9.3. Protecton from excess voltage The transmtters may be n danger from excess voltage caused by connecton faults or atmospherc electrcal dscharge. Protecton from excess voltage between the wres of the transmsson lne s provded by transl dodes nstalled n all types of transmtter (see the table, column 2). In order to protect aganst excess voltage between the transmsson lne and the casng or earth (not prevented by the dodes connected between the transmsson wres), addtonal protecton s provded n the form of plasma surge arresters or transl dodes (see the table, column 3). In the case of unprotected transmtters, may be used external protectve devce. When the transmsson lnes are long, t s advantageous to use one protectve devce near the transmtter (or nsde t), and another near entry ponts to other devces used n conjuncton wth t. Devces used to protect transmtters: Type of Protecton between wres (transl Protecton between wres and earth and/or casng type of transmtter dodes) permtted voltage protecton, permtted voltage APC..., APR... 36V DC Plasma surge arresters-100v DC (Not applcable to Ex verson) When excess voltage protecton s used, the voltage n the protectve elements must not exceed the maxmum permtted values gven n columns 2 and 3 of the table. The nsulaton test voltages (500V AC or 750V DC) gven n refer to transmtters wthout the protectve devces descrbed n Such protecton s not used n Ex versons of transmtters Earthng The transmtters are ftted wth nternal and external earth termnals. 10. INSPECTIONS AND SPARE PARTS Perodc nspectons Perodc nspectons should be made n accordance wth the regulatons to whch the user s subject. Durng nspecton, the pressure connectors should be checked for loose connectons and leaks, the electrcal connectors should be checked wth regard to tghtness and the state of the gaskets, packng glands, and the daphragm seals should be checked for tarnshng and corroson Check the characterstc converson curve by followng the procedures for Calbraton and, where approprate, Confguraton Unscheduled nspectons If the transmtters are nstalled n a locaton where they may be exposed to mechancal damage, excess pressure, hydraulc mpulses or excess voltage, or the daphragm may be n danger from sedmentaton, crystallzaton or eroson, nspectons should be carred out as requred. Where t s found that the sgnal n the transmsson lne s absent or ts value s ncorrect, a check should be made on the lne and ts termnal connectons. Check whether the values of the supply voltage and load resstance are correct. If a communcator s connected to the power supply lne of the transmtter, a fault n the lne may be ndcated by the message No response or Check connecton. If the lne s n order, check the operaton of the transmtter Cleanng the Daphragm Seal, Overloadng Damage Sedment and drt whch have formed on the daphragm n the course of operaton must not be removed by mechancal means, as ths may damage both the daphragm and the transmtter tself. The only permtted method s the dssolvng of sedment Sometmes transmtters malfuncton due to damage caused by overloadng, e.g. n case of: - applcaton of excessve pressure; - freezng or soldfcaton of the medum; - acton of a hard object, such as a screwdrver, on the daphragm. Usually n such cases the symptoms are such that the output current falls below 4mA or rses above 20mA, and the transmtter fals to respond to nput pressure Spare parts. Parts of the transmtter whch may be subject to wear or damage and requre replacement:: cover gasket Other lsted parts, due to the specfc features and requrements of exploson-protected devces, may be replaced only by the manufacturer or by a frm authorzed by the manufacturer. 12. PACKING, STORAGE AND TRANSPORT The transmtters should be packed sngly or n sets, n such a way as to protect them from damage durng transportaton. The transmtters should be stored n multple packs under cover, n a place free of vapours and reactve substances, wth temperature and humdty not exceed the lmts specfed n p Transmtters wth uncovered daphragm or seal connectors, stored wthout packagng, should have covers to prevent damage to the daphragm. Durng transportaton, the transmtters should be packed and secured so as to prevent them from shftng. Any means of transport may be used, provded drect atmospherc effects are elmnated. 13. GUARANTEE The manufacturer reserves the rght to make constructonal and technologcal changes whch do not lower the qualty of the transmtters.
