1 1st Edition of the International Feast of History Iconographic Competion Image Rights. Lights, shadows and colours about human rights Deadline: 30 th August 2015 The International Feast of History (from 17 th to 25 th October 2015, XXII edition) in collaboration with the International Centre for History and Heritage Teaching (DiPaSt) of the Department of Educational Sciences "Giovanni Maria Bertin" of Alma Master Studiorum - Bologna University, announces the following competition "Image Rights. Lights, shadows and colours about human rights. The competition is open to cartoonists, photographers, designers and painters, professional and amateur. In creating their projects, the artists will be free to choose subjects and themes to be treated; the only "limit" to be respected is the subject of this. In order to give prominence to the artistic projects in competition, for the best 20 works there will be the opportunity to be shown in the exhibition "Image Rights. Lights, shadows and colours about human rights that will take place at one of the prestigious halls hosting the events of the festival for all the duration of the International Feast of History (from 17 th to 25 th October 2015). Furthermore, during the exhibition all the visitors will vote for the work they most appreciate and the winners will be awarded a prize. All works presented and their authors will be emphasized on the website and Facebook page FiS web (Attachment 1). The winners of the competition will exhibit their original work. All the participants will have to fill out the registration form and attach it to the competition request (Appendix 2). 1

ART 2 Aims and objectives The main aims of the competition are: promoting a greater knowledge and awareness about the Human Rights ; favouring the exposure of the authors and their works. ART 3 Subject of 2015 Edition, XII International Feast of History The competition is dedicated to Human Rights and their multitude of issues and situations. On this basis all the participants can work on: childhood and weak categories rights; expression rights; gender rights; immigrants rights. 2

3 ART 4 Recipients The participation is free and open to all. The artists will have to submit a specific project related to the subject of this edition. Each artist will be able to submit one unpublished work only. ART 5 Technical Requirements Projects can be made in the following forms and materials: Cartoon: each cartoon must be composed of a minimum of 1 to a maximum of 4 boards. The tables should be in A4 (210x297 mm) print format, and the longer side must be the height; Photography: each work must be composed of a single photo only NOT exceeding the dimensions of 33x48 cm; Painting: each canvas must NOT exceed the dimensions of 40x50 cm. All kinds of techniques can be used, provided that all works will be painted will be on canvas; Drawing in charcoal on cardboard: each design must NOT exceed the dimensions of 33x48 cm. ART 6 How to participate in the competition and its deadlines Participants must submit a copy of their works no later than 30 th August 2015, under penalty of exclusion from the competition, also filling out and attaching the registration form (Attachment 2). Copies of the works may be sent: in paper format and delivered in person, at Department of Educational Sciences Giovanni Maria Bertin, via Filippo Re, Bologna, every day from Monday to Friday from 09.00am to 06.00pm; in paper format sent by mail to the following address: Centro internazionale di Didattica della Storia e del Patrimonio via Filippo Re, Bologna; in digital format TIFF, JPEG, PDF (dimension 20 MB) sent to e- mail address facedu.dipast@unibo.it, naming the files as follow: surname_name and specifying concorso diritti. d immagine as the object of the mail. During the selection phase, copies of the originals will be judged, with the exception of the photographies that can be sent in the original format. To do a proper evaluation of the projects, in the if you send digital format of your works, you are required to send them in a high definition format. 3

4 ART 7 Examination board The selection of the works will be carried out by a jury of experts, authors and scholars, whose decision will be incontestable. The composition of the jury will be announced later on the portal ART 8 Award ceremony The most deserving works will compete for the final prize. The winners will show their original works in the exhibition "Image Rights. Lights, shadows and colours about human rights " that will take place at one of the prestigious halls hosting the events of the festival for all the duration of the event (from 17 th to 25 th October 2015). Furthermore, during the exhibition all the visitors will vote for the work they most appreciate. At the end of the exhibition, the most voted work will be will be awarded a prize.
