Objectives RULES FOR ROTARY YOUNG PHOTOGRAPHER 2018 This competition is to encourage young people to: Experiment with photography Use either digital or traditional methods of photography Show interpretation of a given topic Express their ideas through the medium of photography. 2. Entrants This competition is open to young people still in full time education. The overall club winner is entered by their Rotary Club to a District Competition. There are three age categories, with ages taken on 31 st August 2018 JUNIOR: INTERMEDIATE: SENIOR: Aged 7 10 years Aged years Aged years. 3. Competition The themes for 2018 are My Best Friend and Building/Street Photography Entrants are asked to submit entries either in colour or black and white, size 7" x 5" In addition each entrant must provide below, in no more than 50 words, a description of what the entrant feels the photograph conveys. On the reverse of the photograph their own details and details of camera used and the approximate date the photograph was taken. Each image entered may be used for display purposes by Rotary. 3 Format and Judging The judges will view the entries in each age category and consider: Technical merit, Content and composition Imagination & style Conformity to the theme All decisions by the judges are final. The Youghal Rotary Club Competition: Entries in by 26 th February 2018 Please note only sizes 7X5 The Rotary Club will award certificates to all participants. Forms All entries must be accompanied by an official entry form as well as details of the photographs. Tick the box of the category being entered, entry to multiple categories permissible, just tick the box. Entry forms require certification from a parent, guardian, or teacher that the entry is exclusively the entrant s own work. Parental consent needed if student is under 18. It is a condition of entry that The Rotary Club shall have the right to reproduce any entry without fee, unless objection is made in writing on the entry form. The winning photographs will remain the property of the photographers. However, they may be displayed, at a Rotary Event and on the Rotary Club website stating the winner s age group.
