1 TIAG Newsletter December Having fun at Anything Goes workshop with Pat McEntire December Holiday Luncheon Entertainment & Exhibit 12:00 pm at TI City Hall Entertainment by Dale Williams December Judge Barbara Lewis Barbara specializes in depicting wildlife and domestic animals. Having grown up in Virginia's Blue Ridge, lived in Jackson Hole WY and now Florida, she has been surrounded by nature and wildlife in beautiful settings. Her work spans an amazing variety of media including pastels, watercolor, colored pencil, graphite and charcoal, mixed media, scratch-board and photography. I am constantly reminded of the fragility of ecosystems and their inhabitants and hope that through my art I can educate and encourage others to join in conservation of our natural areas. Painting Exchange December 4th, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm TI City Hall There are no themes for the shows this season, anything goes! Ribbons are awarded for 1 2nd and 3rd places as well as four Honorable Mentions. So don t feel you have to work with the instructor. Do your own thing if you prefer. Bring your own supplies. Any drawing or painting medium is welcome. $3.00 for members and $4.00 for guests. The social aspect is free!

2 Thursdays with Bruce TI City Hall 9:30-12:00 Thursday morning fun art classes with Bruce Kotchey instructing. you should have a completed painting by the time you leave. Any medium is ok, though Bruce demonstrates with acrylic on canvas. Bring a friend, spouse or newbee. Enjoy a relaxed and fun morning creating art. Members, $3.00, guests $4.00 Portrait Workshop on Fridays TI Community Center 9:15 to 12:00 Facilitators are Libit Jones and Peter Garino Live model! Members $4.00, Non-members $6.00 A few reminders for the December Luncheon If you did not pick up a brown paper lunch bag or bags to decorate and fill for the auction, please find one or two to fill with a small item worth $2.00 to $5.00. This a popular feature of the Holiday meeting and benefits the Scholarship fund. You may bring a guest to the luncheon. Please RSVP to Jerry Palmer that you will be attending with or without guest. Please also let her know what you might be bringing. In the Works There has been some interest in Plein Air painting. Jerry Palmer has been getting some information available. It has been suggested that perhaps a few locations and a day and time be chosen. The location would rotate each week and interested artists would show up to paint. We hope to discuss this more at the luncheon. Jo Martin has responded to the opportunity offered by Maria Manor and will be showing there. We look forward to learning more. Holiday Show at the TI Community Center The Treasure Island Art Guild members opened its 2014 holiday show at the Treasure Island Community Center through January 7th 2015, featuring the work of Bruce Fallender, Carolyn Louden, Adela Mike, Arlene Shoemaker, and Patricia Zill. The creative talent of abstract artist Fallender engages the viewer in Aftermath, a charcoal rendering of a solemn moment of devastation, where the focal point of an orb could translate into a symbol that suggests that in every end is a beginning. Mixed media electrifies jostling Polo Ponies contrasted by a Seaweed Symphony of radiant hues. Painting provides clarity for the soul is the mantra that sparks the work of basically self-taught acrylic artist Louden, as evidenced in pure patterns of form, order, and color in Blue Marble and Red Diamond. Will Someone Please Let Me Out displays an excellent composition that narrates the honesty and helplessness of its main character. Using a gift certificate for art classes, Mike tapped into a love that had been latent in my life. Her artistry in oils gives us saturated color and strong contour lines, revealing depth of emotion in Composer of the Classical Era. Lost edges speak to a lyrical Sad Clown with Flowers and A Teardrop. It s Autumn shows versatility in brushwork. Pastel artist Shoemaker demonstrates the spontaneity of Impressionism in Country Bridge in Ireland and still life Flowers in a Mirror. Luminous layers of vibrant color spell the excitement of a Caribbean tourist mecca in Cozumel Shopping. Her medium softens, as in a daydream, the tall and stately Hollyhocks.

3 Fine artist and watercolorist Zill finds balance between freeing and controlling her medium in Colossus Coral and Heliconia Del Costa Rica. In a poetic Lily Mood III, experience a visual delight where white sparkles with reflected color.
