He was the youngest child to be invited to the highly respected art class of David Anderson. Anderson requested some of Ron's work to be in his first gallery which opened in By age fourteen, Ron was presenting annual one-man invitational shows and soon became the second highest grossing artist in the gallery. The St. Petersburg Times declared him a prodigy as they chronicled his life each year. By the age of eighteen, Ron had won many local and national awards, including a scholarship to the Art students League of New York. His work has appeared in the winning pages of many national publications including Artist Magazine, American Artist, International Artist Magazine, as well as in the hard cover book "The Best of Portrait Painting" by North Light Publishers. In 2008, Ron placed first in the "Paint the Town" plein air competition in St. Petersburg. Ron has painted commissioned portraits of judges, politicians and many other prominent community leaders, including Judge Sanderlin and Professor Eleazor from Stetson University College of Law. He is a member of the Portrait Society of America, and plans on continuing entering nationally recognized competitions. Holiday Luncheon & Auction Saturday, December 12th is our Holiday Luncheon. As always, we can expect good food (please bring a side dish to accompany the spiral ham, rolls and condimentstiag provides), good cheer, and good entertainment. Don't forget your brown bags for the auction. Dale Williams will again be providing music and his wonderful voice. Your guest is welcome as well. Painting Exchange Thusday December 3rd between 9:00 and 1:00. Small cash award sand ribbons are given for first through third places and four honorable mention ribbons are awarded as well. Entry fee is $2.00 per piece with up to three allowed. Ongoing Activities Wednesdays are Anything Goes at the TI Community Center 9:30-12:00 Pat McEntire Facilitates

2 This workshop is designed as more of an open studio, thus the name. Do whatever you prefer. Bring your own supplies, any drawing or painting medium is welcome $3.00 for members and $4.00 for guests. The social aspect is free. Thursdays with Bruce TI City Hall, 9:30 to 12:00 Thursday Morning fun art classes with Bruce Kotchey instructing. You may have a completed painting by the time you leave. Any medium is ok, though Bruce demonstrates with acrylic on canvas. Bring a friend, spouse or newbie. Enjoy a relaxed and fun morning creating art. Bring your own supplies. Members $3.00, guests $4.00. Portrait Workshop on Fridays TI City Hall 9:15 to 12:00 Facilitator is Don Eaton, Live model! Members $4.00, non-members $6.00. TIAG HOLIDAY SHOW AT THE COMMUNITY CENTER The Treasure Island Art Guild has opened its holiday show featuring the work of artists Michael Davis, George Goodenough, Madeline Kirby, Pat Trahey, and Colleen Ward. Award winning fine artist Davis, describes the luminosity of pastels in Sugar Beach and Maui South. A painterly Pastel Lady exemplifies his favorite subject matter, the human form. As his medium straddles the line between painting and drawing, pen and ink is added to complement an impression of a glowing Pretty Girl. Watercolor artist Goodenough, offers a glimpse of St. Augustine, our nations oldest city. The character of his medium is demonstrated with washes that give us happy accidents, contrasted by deliberate brushstrokes in Stella s and Hill Village. Its transparency gives the illusion as being lit from within, as reflected in Village Street and St. Augustine Shops. Pastelist Kirby, challenges herself to find a balance between learned skills and what comes naturally, as successfully applied to A Field in Vermont and the beauty of a Florida river in Myakka Reflections. Across the Bay gives the viewer a surreal sunrise, while a glowing Aloha Frangipani reflects the sunlight of a new day. Motivated by intense color and value, artist Trahey, with oils, brushes energy into Lovely Rita, gives us a man and his music, blues legend BB King and with its touching subject matter and saturated color, Caught by Surprise asks for an emotional response. Warm and cool acrylic hues compose a calming Blue Skies and Sea Grass. During artist Wards various media studies, she became hooked on pastels which attests to her passion in her first pastel Mackinac Island Butterflies. Ca d Zan, the home of one time circus king John Ringling, dazzles the eye with layers of pigment. Lost edges in Cabbage Key, circa 1770 s capture a sense of days long past, while Garden Path reflects a dream come true. 4 TIAG Still Need Your Help! TIAG is an all volunteer group, and can only remain the active and vibrant organization it is with your help! TIAG offers wonderful learning experiences, exhibition opportunities, camaraderie and association with fellow artists. It disseminates a lot of useful information to the membership and is an asset to the community, not only through our Scholarship, but through our exhibits and by publicizing the arts in our community. We still need help with the following: Publicity, Pat Van Lueven will provide all the necessary information and contacts. This is a perfect job for someone who is computer literate and willing to set up reminders to send out press releases at the right time. Art4All is comprised of Suntan Art Center, TIAG, Pinellas Park Art Center and Beach Art Center. This position primarily involves meeting with the group quarterly and exchanging information with the other member groups so that we are all aware of what is going on in Pinellas County Specialty Workshops requires Someone to arrange for and set up special workshop opportunities So many of you enjoy participating in our shows, demonstrations, classes and socials.
