1 St. Paul s Episcopal Church Lenten Lunch Series Art Silent Auction Featured Artists of the Week FEATURED ARTIST WEEK FIVE Eleanor Cox Eleanor s beautiful watercolor is one of the pieces on display as one enters Scott Hall, and is an excellent example of her well-recognized work as one of the area s leading artists. Eleanor specializes in watercolors that feature color and light in the landscape and garden. Her work focuses on Virginia but also highlights many of her annual travels abroad to paint en plein air. Holding a BFA from the University of North Carolina, Greensboro, she has won many local and regional award including honors from the Southern Watercolor Society, the Baltimore Watercolor Society, Potomac Valley Watercolorists and the Virginia Watercolor Society all of which she is an artist member. 2 FEATURED ARTIST WEEK FOUR FOUR Anne Negus Anne has donated a total of four paintings to the Auction, two of which are shown here. Her works employ rich colors and display a depth of feeling that conveys a strong message to the viewer. Born in Chicago, Anne has been an artist over 60 years! She enjoys painting in watercolor, oil and acrylic. With a 25-year graphic design background, her painting style leans more toward illustration. I'm working on being wild and crazy, she says. Anne exhibits with the James River Art League, Crossroads Art Center, For Arts Sake Gallery and Uptown Gallery. 3 FEATURED ARTIST WEEK THREE Bruce Yoder James River Pony Pasture Photograph on Canvas Bruce has donated this beautiful photographic print on canvas, which has the appearance of an oil painting due to his use of color and late afternoon light. It is truly an excellent fine art photograph of the James River by one of our most highly recognized local artists. Bruce is a photographer originally from Pettisville, Ohio. He has taken photographs most of his adult life. He prefers digital photography for his landscapes and his macro photography of nature. Bruce credits his Amish heritage with helping him to slow down and look at nature more closely. He hopes his photos will help nurture a spirit of gratitude for the beauty we often fail to notice. 4 FEATURED ARTIST WEEK TWO Cyane Lowden Summer Evening, Reflections Sepia Silver Prints Cyane has donated two sepia-toned silver prints, a relatively rare media now, harkening back to the days of film photography, but still used by some of the best fine art traditionalists. These two small photographs are for sale individually, but would make an outstanding pair and together present an excellent example of the film-based silver print process. I have been an artist for a long, long time, probably before I was born. I am originally from Pittsburgh PA. I do fine art photography, which can be landscapes, seascapes or trees. I also paint in watercolor, mostly animals, with some landscapes. It is a loose style. My photographic work can be seen at the Glave-Kocen Gallery and sometimes at the Staples Mill Crossroads, either photography or paintings. 5 FEATURED ARTIST WEEK ONE Ann Chenoweth "Color is the music of art ", 2016 Inkjet collage 12 1/2" x 16" "Color is the music of art." is an inkjet collage consisting of multiple photographs that were first digitally altered in the computer, then printed in layers by running the same piece of paper through the printer two or more times. The background photographs were taken in Harrod's (London) fish market, overprinted with an image from a Cornwall semi-tropical garden. The central black and white piece is an extreme close up of Miss Theresa Pollak (founder of VCU School of the Arts), overprinted with an abstracted tree image. The text piece at the bottom is a copy of a page from Ann's grandmother s 1916 notebook for art class.

6 Ann Chenoweth received her Master of Fine Arts Degree in Painting and Printmaking from Virginia Commonwealth University. After Graduate School, she worked as curator for the Institute of Contemporary Art of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and later as director of 1708 East Main Gallery. Ann taught drawing, basic design and etching at Virginia Commonwealth University. She has also taught at the Richmond Printmaking Workshop, The Visual Art Center of Richmond, and the Bay School. Ann taught Arts Management and studio arts at Randolph-Macon College. From 1990 to 2011, Ann was on the faculty of the VMFA Studio School, where she taught watercolor painting and drawing and painting from nature. Ann s drawings, etchings, and paintings have been exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Virginia and elsewhere, including The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Reynolds Gallery, Randolph-Macon College, The Anderson Gallery (VCU), White Canvas Gallery, Astra Design, Rivermont Studios and the Peninsula Fine Arts Center. She was selected by the Arts in Embassies Program of the U.S. Department of State to exhibit art works in Bulgaria and Gabon. As a founding member of One-Off Printmakers, Ann has participated in many portfolio projects and exhibitions in England, Scotland, Italy, Peru, Canada, and the U.S. Her work is included in many notable public, corporate, and private collections. In 1997, the Women s Caucus chose her The Virginia Artist of the Year for Art, Richmond Chapter. She received The Virginia Commission for the Arts Virginia Prize in Printmaking twice and was awarded a Professional Fellowship from the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.
