3 Just Takes Assembly Schoolhouse Block # 2 comes with rotary cutting instructions for the bottom and chimney sections. Templates A, D, K, L, and M are all located in the roof section. This session s Shoo Fly block will fit the square section of the Schoolhouse block. Door Section Sew together the two red 2 X rectangles with the white 1 3/4 inch rectangle (door) Add the 1 3/4 X 4 3/4 red strip and door section complete. M Reverse Chimney Section Sew the two red chimney sections (1 1/2 X 2 3/8 rectangles) on each end of the 2 3/8 X 6 1/4 white rectangle Block Section Make the Shoo Fly block, following directions on pg 5 Sew the two 1 1/4 inch white rectangles to the top and left side of Shoo Fly Block Bottom section of Schoolhouse complete! section at Sentimental Stitches and in the Dear Jane software.

4 Just Takes Roof Section Preparing Templates and Fabric Draw or print Templates A, D, K, L, M on freezer paper NOTE: Templates L and M must be reversed. The reversed Templates are on pages 1 and 3. Iron Templates and Reverse M to the back of the red (main) fabric, leaving room for seam allowance. Rotary cut Templates K and M, adding a quarter inch seam allowance to each outside edge. See Gay s Tutorial at and for pictures Iron Templates A, D and Reverse L to the back of the white (background) fabric Rotary cut A, D and Reverse L, leaving a quarter inch seam around them. NOTE: you do not need to reverse these templates. One is already the reverse of the other. Roof Section Stitching Leaving freezer paper on the fabric, join pieces L and M. Remember: do not stitch into the seam allowance. Stop at the end of the freezer paper. Add piece K to L and M Attach Chimney Section to the Roof. Notice that the first Chimney is on top of K Add background pieces A and D Y Seam. You may want to re-iron freezer paper 1) pin and stitch from the bottom of the roof to the top and stop, leaving 1 inch thread 2) turn pieced and stitch from the top of the chimney to the bottom 3) Repeat for the other side of the Roof. Block Completion Stitch the two sections together and you have a gorgeous Schoolhouse block! section at Sentimental Stitches and in the Dear Jane software.

5 Just Takes Block 2 Shoo Fly Your unfinished block should measure 6 1/2 for use in a Schoolhouse block Red (Color 1) Cut two 3 inch squares for half square triangles Cut one strip 1 3/8 X 12 inches for stripes White (Background) Cut three 3 inch squares for half square triangles and center Cut one strip 1 3/8 X 12 inches for stripes Assembly Half Square Triangles Place a red and white square right sides together Draw a diagonal line on the back of the white fabric Stitch one-quarter inch on each side of the diagonal line Cut apart on the diagonal line and you have two half square triangles Trim half square triangles to 2 1/4 inches Repeat process for two more half square triangles Stripes Stitch the two 12 inch strips together, press to the red Cross-cut 3 inches for four pieces 3 X 2 1/4 inches Block Completion Stitch as 9 patch section at Sentimental Stitches and in the Dear Jane software.
