The club activities include local and regional tours, social events, and restoration assistance and advice. General meetings are held the first Friday of each month at 8:00 P.M. at the Church of the Nazarene, 635 Calero Avenue, in San Jose, California (click here to see map). The club welcomes new members who share our passion for these historic automobiles. The Horseless Herald is published once a month and can be viewed on the World Wide Web at 2

4 Horseless Herald December 2014 Christmas Party SANTA CLARA. A dedicated group of horseless carriage enthusiasts met for socializing, wine, and good food at the Mariani's restaurant on a Saturday night in December. The tables were decorated in holiday greens and ribbons. Each place setting had a hand made, fur trimmed stocking filled with a variety of chocolates. Those in attendance were: The Boydens, Chulicks, Wires. Lewises, Anningers, Hironimuses, Lundquists, and Mr. Wollesen. The Editors had the salmon which was cooked perfectly and was plated with cauliflower, broccoli and rice. Preceding the main course was a plate of crisp greens with a choice of dressings. I sampled both and they both were delicious. After the entertainment we were served chocolate mousse. The Gilroy High School a cappella choir performed a selection of Christmas carols and holiday songs. And there was time for requests. The singers went home with jars filled with the ingredients for a delicious soup. Eric Lundquist spoke about the future of our regional groups (Bay Area and Santa Clara Valley) and that we should combine our efforts in tours and events. All the decorations and soup jars were prepared by Julie Chulick. Thank You Julie. A good time was had by all. 4

8 Horseless Herald December 2014 HCCA NATIONAL NEWS To: Regional Groups (RG) and Affiliated Registries (AR) Contacts and Others Re: Director Election, HCCA Phone #, 2015 Convention, Holiday Greetings Issue: # Director Election Thanks go to the member candidates that ran for the HCCA Director positions. Though the CPA tabulated the results of the 2015 Election of Directors to the HCCA National Board over the past weekend, because of outdated contact information, I have not been able to reach all of the nominees yet. Once the candidates have been contacted, I will release a special notice. Discontinue Office Toll Free Phone Number In order to control the HCCA office costs, a recent review was made of office services and expenses. During the review, we found that the volume use of the toll free line ( ) has dropped due to the members that have unlimited calling plans. Since the volume use of the Toll Free phone line has dropped (and only covers US originated calls), the high cost does not justify the volume. The old HCCA Toll Free 888 phone number has been closed and there is no forwarding message. New HCCA Pamphlet We have been advised that the new HCCA pamphlets have been printed. Though they are not yet at the HCCA office for distribution, a digital image was sent out to a member for solicitation of a group of new members who are changing from antique car racing to touring. Who says that we do not get smarter as we get older? 2015 Hershey Tent Organization Meeting Reservations The scheduling for the reserving of space and times for meetings at HCCA tent by Regional Groups and Registries will be managed through the HCCA office in The change will standardize, simplify and organize the tent reservation process. Holiday Greetings and Happy New Year It is hard to believe that 2014 is almost over Seems like only yesterday we started the touring season.
